  • So how do these newfangled relays work in KSP 1.2? Here's a short tutorial for you.
    Sorry about the weird audio stuff at around 8:00 ... no idea what happened there :(

    You ever consider building massive refueling stations around the Mun or Minmus? Possibly even Duna or Dres. Places for small probes or maybe even bigger manned missions to refuel or even perform crew transfers. Could even have landers built into cargo bays for missions to pickup and drop off again mid mission to save fuel

      @ShadowZone  7 років тому

      +Astronomer1994 actually I have. Watch my "Operation Moonsucker" series, where I set up a mining and refuel base on and around Minmus: Operation Moonsucker: ua-cam.com/play/PLLGqKphkhc2CyJ-K-PSUtje1-zrw7aUz8.html For Dres I would recommend using the asteroid belt as a source for fuel

    The best way to find geosynchronous orbit is to be in circular orbit with an orbital period of 6 hours, 00minutes, 00seconds. I use the orbit info window in mechjeb to find the orbital period.

    I found that whilst building my moon base, My sections became disconnected in orbit due to connection loss. I fixed the issue by launching two separate relays in high polar orbit of the moon, Giving me consistent 24hour connection.

    how does it work when you put things into orbit around the sun? I put a satellite into orbit around the sun and had no control so I put a relay satellite in the same orbit which had signal back to kerbin but the other satellite still has no control. This network stuff confuses the hell out of me lol

    Thanks for the video. Have you tried a probe with multiple small antennas extended to see if that works better? I ask because I see the word (combinable) on the description and am just wondering if that can boost range.
    Also, I've heard of being able to have a pilot in a craft with a relay antenna act as a ground station for control. Have you been able to do anything like that or is that not a feature?

    How do I find out how much battery to put on a relay when used with the
    lab and the Survey Scanner ? The RA-2 spec says it uses 24 charge/Mit.
    But how do I figure out how much data the science lab (full of 500
    science) and the Survey Scanner will transmit through the relay ? I see nothing about this in the wiki.

      as long as you have at least 1%, you have full control. It's basically an early warning system to make you aware that you are about to leave signal range.

    Hi Shadow Zone I've need your help pls pls reply, I totally loved this 1.2 update and the communications really made probes as probes, but I've been using KSP 0.90 and it works well without lagging on my pc of 2gb RAM, 2.40 Ghz Processor and 256mb Video Memory, but when I downloaded 1.0.4 and 1.0+ versions there was a texture issue, I opened Space Centre and some of the buildings were little bit blacker and when I went to VAB some parts were having incomplete textures while other parts were completely black. I dont know whats happening, but someone told me try the 1.2 update, so can I try it on my PC, and also I tried reducing graphics settings in 1.0+ versions way too low, but still it doesnt work. It might be a software issue. But PLEASE HELP ME I NEED YOUR HELP

    a slightly more efficient way toget signal behind the mun would be to put a relay at the first Lagrange point which is like 15 - 20 degrees beginf the mun in its orbit or some shit

    • @ShadowZone
      @ShadowZone  7 років тому +1

      +shazbot322 as far as I know, since KSP doesn't support n body physics, there are no Lagrange points

    • @JimboJamble
      @JimboJamble 7 років тому

      +ShadowZone Not technically, no, but in a way this makes it easier: just put a satellite anywhere in the same orbit as the Mun around Kerbin and it can stay there indefinitely (with minor corrections from time to time).

    • @agnichatian
      @agnichatian 7 років тому

      Have you done it ? It seems to me (but I'm not a rocket scientist..) that the Lagrange point would be inside the SOI of Kerbin, meaning that Kerbin would just pull it in.

      Well it IS a game and I seriously have no idea about communication
      technology or the mathematics behind that. That's also the reason why I
      mentioned Matt's video since he explains it properly. In the game,
      basically you have to look at the "G" value of an antenna to see how
      powerful it is. The biggest antennae have "100G", the smaller ones
      around 5G or so. The bigger the "G" the better the range ;)

    • @blykam
      @blykam 7 років тому +1

      geo = earth. So it's not the general term for that.

    • @SpeanterandKearla
      @SpeanterandKearla 7 років тому

      Geostationary orbit = Will always be on the same spot in the sky, night or day, 24/7 (only achievable at equator).
      (Hint as agent_b said, geo means earth)
      Geo-synchronous orbit = Will always be at the same spot at a specific time on earth. Earth has a rotation of 24 hours (actually a bit less: Thats why we have a leap year). So it means a satellite will have an orbit that lasts 24 hours.
      Synchronous orbit = Just an orbit that is at the exact same spot, at the exact same time compared to it's celestial body. For an example the moon. The satellites orbit MUST take as long time as it takes the moon to rotate once.
      A geostationary orbit is also geosynchronous orbit, but a geosynchronous orbit is not always geostationary orbit.

  • @jesse_mulder

    • @laplongejunior
      @laplongejunior 7 років тому

      What about "Kerb-eostationary orbit"? :)
      (But I'm pretty sure than in Kerbol's world, geo refers to their homeplanet)
      EDIT: We see at 2:35 "Keostationary" which is even more easy to say than what I planned.
