    Private Division should hire *you* to design and narrate the tutorial missions for KSP2, Mr. Aben. Your instruction has really helped ease me past the learning curve and opened up KSP for me in all the ways its own inbuilt tutorials had not, even after years of occasional dabbling.

    One of the Mods I really wanted to use was RemoteTech but found it a little unforgiving. So when they added a "lite" version to stock KSP, it was one of my KSP dreams come true (still waiting for life support).
    This video certainly made the basics come to life, instead of simply adding "moar boosters". Thanks.

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  7 років тому +5

      I really like the stock comm system. It's the biggest reason why I wanted to start a new career with 1.2. Life support would be nice, but I wonder if the devs worry it may be too much when under budgeting fuel has a good chance of producing dead Kerbals.
      I really want to give Kerbalism a go. That combined with a part mode like MOLE sounds like a blast, but with three KSP builds on the go right now, perhaps I should wait.

    • @sloubi67
      @sloubi67 5 років тому

      Kerbalism is very cool, but it override some game mechanics (for ksp 1.2.2, not sure for newer versions) like science transmit, isru and doesn't have very good mod compatibility.

      Thanks, and yes, I plan to continue with it. I have a close to vanilla series ( goo.gl/OS8zrX ) that I'm currently working through. I figure as I encounter situations that warrant a separate tutorial or math video, then I'll make one. That way, I hope, this playlist will be in a sensible order.

    been mad binging your content. It's great stuff trying to step up my KSP game. My only critique would be that sometimes you show things without defining them. Especially in terms of units. For example, in this video at 9:40 you show the formula for the ranges but I'm wondering what units you are working in and how or why the 2.0G = 2e9? Although as I type this out now, that is giga and the K is kilo? so power ratings expressed in the game are distances? thanks and keep up the great work.

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the constructive feedback. The units are meters by the way. I presented the numbers as the are in the game, but I should have added on units as I've done in other similar situations. And I certainly did jump around with metric prefixs. I'll keep what you said in mind in the future.

    I've got a contract to put up the SENTINEL Scope in an orbit just this side of EVE. I'm going to go about it, but I'd like to see you do a vid on the same contract (The orbit is always slightly different, but everybody gets the contract offered at some point), from determining what is needed to fulfill the contract, to building the probed and launch vehicle to putting it successfully in orbit. No pressure. BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  3 роки тому

      I've not gotten to that in the tutorials yet and it may be a bit before I do. Today's video is more advance rendezvousing and next I want to get into RCS and docking. My most recent let's play series has a lot of interplanetary stuff, but they're not really set up as tutorials.

      @@MikeAben About sixteen hours later and it no longer matters. I went ahead and built it and launched it. I got it going in the right direction past the Mun and Minmus and in between the orbits of Kerbin and Eve. Then I did something I kind of wish I'd recorded. I had a pair of contracts for sats going to Minmus in opposing orbits, and decided to try sending them along with a set of communications network sats. So 4 definite sats, plus the launch vehicle with an antenna on it to be the 3rd and final comms sat and I was off. Burned so my PE was coming more or less equatorial and moving EAST around Minmus, then released the first sat. Then burned to get the PE to come back through Minmus and go WEST around Minmus, then released that one. Then burned to put the launching craft back roughly equatorial and going East when it got to Minmus. At this point I checked their Minmus PE's and adjusted as necessary. I then pre-programmed their capture burns and left each with JUST a capture. They all arrived within minutes of each other, so I had to figure out which was arriving 1st, which 2nd and which 3rd, then did each burn and switched to the next craft as quickly as possible. Then set-up the comms network, then did the eastbound satellite (interestingly all I had to do was get the inclination set and it completed. Then I switched to the westbound sat and... did nothing. Apparently it got there close enough to be considered in the proper orbit. By the time I got done with that the Infrared Sat was well past the orbit of Minmus. I set up a retrograde node to bring the Ap in and switch it with the PE and took the PE down as close as I could to it's designated distance from the sun. That burn is 18 days away in game time. I've been sitting in front of my computer for about 20 hours right now, alternately watching vids to brush up, and playing Kerbal. I can't even remember what else I got accomplished today, but I got a LOT done. I'm through talking. Keep the vids coming and take care.

    • @redpug5042
      @redpug5042 3 роки тому

      given that i said this an hour ago, i may have lost probe control around minmus... it might be smart to bring an antenna next time... or just get relay satellites there... the rocket that i designed for kerbin relays was big enough for the mun so minmus should be no issue.

    How about combining relays and direct antennas for comunication satellites? How does that work?

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  3 роки тому

      For the connection to the KSC, I would guess the antennas would combine as described. I'm not sure for a signal relayed to another antenna. My guess would be only the relay antennas would count. A little experimentation would answer the question.
