The First Descendant Review - Worth The Hype?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- Innovating in the looter shooter space can be challenging, especially when there are only so many kinds of progression, monetization and gameplay systems proven to work. Nexon's The First Descendant seemingly forgoes much of that by copying many of its systems from other shooters, with a dash of patrol spaces from Destiny.
While its snappy gunplay and impressive visuals will impress from time to time, it stumbles in some more fundamental ways. The storytelling is uninteresting. The characters feel like cardboard cutouts who only serve to dispense dialogue and little else. The missions and activities range from repetitive and tired to insipid and uninspired.
The end game has some potential with its Colossus but ultimately falters due to the lack of matchmaking on Hard difficulty and abysmal drop rates. The First Descendant isn't the worst option when considering looter shooters, but it only highlights how much better its inspirations can be.
"If there's one redeeming factor to the First Descent, it's the GAMEPLAY." WTF else are you here for if not the gameplay? 😂
Even the gameplay is a recycled repetitive snoozefest.
Right? That's the point lol grind out the gameplay while unlocking more shit to play with
The gameplay is bad.
Some people play games for other than the gameplay
Like story, aesthetics, music, and so on
Wow, the fans of this game can NOT handle anyone disliking it
It's like they trying to defend the Titanic 😂
I hate the trend of counter toxic positivity whenever something gets criticized.
Just shut up and consume I guess.
Haven’t played Warframe in a while but this just looks like a worst version of that game with more human like or earthly aspects. Just kinda eh at the end of the day. Warframe has done it the best in my opinion just a great mind numbing game.
Meh, I'm not sure. I'd say I'm a "fan," though I have enjoyed the game so far.
But as with all games, I follow a "what I like you may not" mentality. Same deal with Books and movies.
It's because you have to waste a lot of time grinding in these games for dumbass skins so it hurts people playing it to think they are wasting their time on a pile of cobwobble so they get defensive
My lord no. The prices for the skins are IN SANE and unjustified. The skins that they are using to promo with are the ones that mostly everyone is drooling over and has a 60-70 bux price tag. Its an okay game, but its rumored that all the body movement and bounce have been removed since the awesome beta, especially from the girl selections. So its a rock in a hard place of a game: you have money on hand for the best ascetically pleasing stuff or stuck between Sony's play safe - never play sorry console rules. 😮💨
figures as much.
Not a rumor but its a FACT
body jiggle, bounce animations for the female body types are toast from the beta months and months back there. we were talking about this game chat and sure enough.
Damn if you want jiggle go play a shitty anime game
And if you don't have money quit bitchin get a job bud
tell that to apex legends who charge like $200 for a skin.
@@theprophet8030 apex is actually good tho so is warframe. for a game that was jumping into a crowded party pool they didnt bring their A game.
Its nothing groundbreaking but its a fun looter shooter, moreso with friends. Story is whatever.. shooting & abilities feels good with a fast paced feel to traversal.. needs some optimization imo but otherwise a decent time..
Its repetitive, which is fine but its not going to last a year i fear.

Bro it just came out. It's not going to be perfect at launch.
@@shrine_chan that's besides the point lol, they pumped this thing up to be god tier and it isnt. so not only does it play differently from its beta and was indeed, in fact, censored~ its a average pew pew game with a over priced store. its console tier baloney. this is worse than shark cards in GTA
I think it's fantastic. My sons and I have been playing this since release and we're really into it.

in my opinion its an alright game, there isnt really anything innovative, its just your generic looter shooter
I agree, I have fun playing the game and like the gun play but the game itself seems alright nothing too crazy going on compared to the other looter shooter games I’ve played which are mainly Destiny 2 and sometimes Division 2 hopefully in the future the game gets better with time and support.
@@adammaginnis719You douchebags didn't play Warframe. You don't know what a good looter shooter is.

@@epjpegyeah I don't think games need to always innovate.
What we have right now is really fun and it could be even better in the future if they're serious about growing the game.
I am downloading it, looking forward to trying it. Updated: honestly thought the graphics were sub par and the gunplay wasn't tight, it was floaty and loose. It all feels cheap.
dont look at the cash shop.
@@jamesoakley4570 I never do in any of these free games. I have no interest in paying them for junk that has no real world value in the longterm. Nor do I support digital currencies that they assign made up values to. I tried the game, it was choppy on PS5 and overall I didn't like the loose aim feel. I prefer tighter gunplay.
Same.. I never look at game shops

It took me a while to get the aim figured out because their settings are weird but after a few hours, I just hip fire. It’s way easier and way faster. lol it’s a game for what it is. For the whole experience and spent money on the bunny ultimate bundle not worth.
I personally love this game. It's what I wanted anthem to be. It feels like a great mix of gun play with character skills, not taking too much of a lead in battle.
Yes, it's not anything new we haven't seen. It's a NEW FRESH WORLD TO DIVE INTO. There's isn't a single review video that doesn't mention warframe or destiny.
Let me remind you that warframe got an excessive amount of hate for its grindyness. Yet all of you are so hung up on a game from 10 years ago that you refuse to give anything new a chance.
Destiny still gets hate for the prices and monetization. ..but those are the games you guys can't help but mention?
A UA-camr said it a few years ago, " gamers today would rather cry and complain than to play or try anything new", and it's hilarious to me. Every single new game for the last 5 years has been hate reviewed on arrival. Then, in 2/3 years when another random game comes out. ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERYONE LOVES THE SAME OLD GAMES THEY CRIED SO MUCH ABOUT YEARS BEFORE. 😂😅
Great comment
The First Descendant is trash until all bosses get nerfed across the board.
@cartoonvideos5 🤣😂 literally couldn't wait to complain. lmfao proved my point. You guys just enjoy crying about games more than playing them

When i heard NEXON was the one who publishes this game i knew this gonna to be a another cash grab hollow MMO from them
but it feels really good to move and shoot, I'm conflicted
Just don't buy stuff then, problem sorted 😂
@@KA-vs7nlPlay literally any other game that feels good to move and shoot, like remnant 2 or something
The character animations feel rigid and stiff, the loot fills up your inventory space so much so quickly you will see people inventory manage mid mission, almost every boss has the same invulnerability floating orb system, the story is -yeah I can't even recall the story. The gameplay loop is repetitive, the grappling hook is awful and your character model just bounces off of most terrain, speaking of terrain you don't climb over small objects or hop over them automatically so a branch or a curb or a rock could halt your momentum, build times exist which is something even warframe devs are considering changing as it inspires people to just not play your game for a while, a lot of missions are designed for multiple people, not because they are difficult not because the enemies are tough and challenging but because you'll have like 6 minutes to fully charge 3 different areas that slowly load and a single enemy in the perimeter will halt that progress, also timers, timers on bosses, timers on missions, timers are not fun.
This game is a gameplay loop of micro managing mediocrity in the pursuit of getting more characters so you can finally get into the end game, if you're going to play it, play it with friends, it isn't special or better than anything out there but it's new so maybe it won't suck as much later.
I'm a Warframe player, MR21. Came over to this game for a bit of a different flavor. I'm only 6 hours in so take my opinions with that in mind.
I've found this game quite enjoyable so far. If I had to complain about something right now it would be how weak my powers feel compared to my Warframes, though that might just be due to my low level mods and I don't know how high they scale. The game is slower than Warframe which is a decent change. Not having a 24hour cool down to increase Mastery Rank is a god send for new players. The on-boarding feels good, walking you through the in game systems (which Warframe is really bad at) all in all, I'm having a good time.
yeah, it definetly took warframes gameplay and streamlined it, but i hate how if you try to do a solo mission you end up running out of ammo, energy and special ammo has like 5 shots total
@@greyreaper800
I have been using an LMG and a Magnum. Haven't run out of ammo yet. Haven't found a 3rd weapon type I enjoy. Been playing solo except for the Colossi
I prefer the fast speed of gameplay and the fact you actually feel like a god in Warframe, I’m mr29 and mr25 on another account. You may not have played recently, in terms of a new player but they revamped all of it. And it’s a lot better, the mr thing has a practice for a reason though. I do understand the wait but still. The amount of QOL they did on the last two years and Pablo is still implementing is more impressive than this game sadly. The prices pushed me away as well, it’s not a bad game but they just took anthem, outriders and Warframe and combined them. And truthfully didn’t do a good job
@greyreaper800 idk why everybody says it plays like warframe. The only thing I've seen similar was how to upgrade honestly. It really plays more like a slow Destiny tbh. I'm also only like lol 13 with Ajax sooo take what I said how you want.
@@ozzizeye9758
The longer I play the more I feel the Destiny. I'm MR7 on the game now with Viessa at level 30. The guns seem to be holding me back the most right now. Constantly having to swap out my guns for new ones I pick up is annoying. Not sure what the level cap for weapons is, but I'm getting drops at level 33 right now. Just qued up my 3rd Descendant will be done tonight.
I think for those who just want something to grind with this style of gameplay, it's worth trying. I've played Destiny through Witch, but don't want to buy anymore expansions.
Warframe is of course a big comp, but I've played Warframe for so long that I am just looking forward to something a little different.
Enjoying it so far at around 8 hours.
This game made me uninstall and try Destiny again. The Final Shape is awesome
This is me. I got tired of trying to keep up on warframe after playing for years and quit playing it a year or so ago, and this scratches that itch pretty well. It's new so I don't feel overwhelmed trying to catch up and keep up, and the progression system is identical enough to Warframes mods, which I always liked.
I also quit Destiny after Witch Queen.🤣
They try to be like warframe but miss the most important part...
Fair monetization.
The game is actually good when people stop comparing it to other games
Thisss bro but i will say it does have mechanics like warframe but people forget warframe is also a repetitive concept but i guess there just blind eyed
its Anthem and I would play Anthem again before playing this game
This is an awful take. It's a mid 3rd person shooter. If they sold this for 70 dollars full price game with zero free to play or buy your power it would still get awful criticism because it needed to cook more. The gunplay is soft, the audio mixing is atrocious at times, much of the abilities are the same the guns are copy paste. Playing a lot from yesterday on PC and Ally. Didn't have a single crash.
I’m playing on steam deck and I can’t even get through a dungeon without being booted out of the server 💀
I’ll give it an 8
From any other looter shooter, this one seems more stable and it help with information on how to actually obtain certain things rather than warfare or outriders. It’s a chore just to know where to get the components so I can craft
I’m enjoying it, but that’s because it’s new, and free. I feel like once the quest line is done and I have a couple of maxed out descendants it’s gonna get real old real fast.. just like every other MMO
As someone with 1,000s of hours in both Warframe and Destiny over the last 10 years, First Descendant is a nice change of pace for me. Still, it doesnt really compare to either. I just hope they stick with it and continue to work on it over the next few years.
Disappointed in this review the game is brilliant so far it’s fun and free
nope, it's shit. enjoy grinding for weeks just to wait another 1-2 real days also solo player experience is ass
Bro played for like an hour 😂 @ChineseQueen
lol, 'free'
You guys never learn
I’m 18 hours in it’s brilliant and it if free and I will never buy anything in a free game when you can grind and unlock everything
Its mid. Very mid
Too grinding and monetization is horrible also repetitive gameplay loops. If no ass exist in this game, people would not be playing it.
I'm having a lot of fun. So whatever.
I no longer can play this gamn due to the fact you have to play certain missions 10 to 20 times just to get the drop you need. Very annoying and bad game design.
I’ve played the last 4 or 5 days and am enjoying it. I haven’t spent anything and have been able to craft Bunny, Freyna, Valby, Lepic, Sharen and I had Viessa as a starter. Gley is the only one I’m having to grind quite a bit atm. I haven’t really played a ‘looter shooter’ since Destiny 1. And I quit that after they had paid DLC that would lock you out of playing the daily missions/strikes. Now THAT was scummy.
This game feels like everything I hate about gaming all in one package.
I dont care about skins etc, but the ultimate weapons got boring abilities, ultimate descendants brings nothing new, gameplay is repetitive but alot of games are, i wish descendants had better kits.
I've been playing it. It's really fun and looks great
Making a looter shooter unik these days is not Easy when looter shooters have Been out for a long time now. For me is a okej game
im a little biased because i used to love playing destiny 1 growing up. but the gameplay is really fun, the leveling and grind is pretty good, the storyline not all that interested in, but besides all that id give it a 7-8/10. definitely could use some work when it comes to map design, some bosses should be nerfed, and just adding mechanics and qualities that can keep players around for a long time.
Its a great game. Its the constant crashing that is making me dislike the game. I hope it gets fixed soon.
Constant crashing? I've played over 20 hours and it crashed maybe 2-3 times. It's not a lot for a f2p live action game especially for the first week.
@@matthewedwards3094 lucky you, it crashed for me 2-3 time in the first 2-3 hours

Genuine question. Whats so satisfying about these sorts of games? Whats the buzz you get from it? My first impressions is that all you do is kill bots and loot them and upgrade your weopons? Why should someone like me who gets a thrill killing humans (in games ofcourse) like warzone or fortnite. Why should i play this?
Really tried to like Warframe, but could not get into it and absolutely hated the aesthetic. Absolutely loving this game though.
I love/d Warframe but was never a big fan of the character design. These are great and I am enjoying the game.
Tried it for a few hours but its just not for me. It's not bad but honestly there's a lot of other games I'd rather spend my time playing. To be fair I'm not a big fan of free to play titles in general and I didn't care for Destiny 2 or Warframe either.

What's this chump on about? Game is great and free 🤙🏻
I've been really enjoying this game, first and foremost it's free to play so you can't complain if you don't have money invested. yes the story lines are lame and the missions are repetitive. but to me I just enjoy the pretty planets and the fun gun play.
you can't really expect much from a free game honestly, especially one that JUST came out recently. it's not gonna be one of those 8K ultra HD games with perfect dialog and game mechanics. in my opinion, for a free game, it's amazing.
Wtf, you can expect what you want from a free game, think how much money they make by whales and monkey brain people buying pointless skins

At this point I really wanna see y'all mf game reviewers make a game sense y'all know what "perfection" is
People say this game is pay-to-win, but can't you buy weapons with cash? If you can't buy it, it's not pay-to-win. Even if I give you $10,000, I want a powerful weapon.!
Graphics are a blurry mess maxed out on any resolution and look horribly dated. Lipsynching during dialogue is horrendous, voice acting is just as bad and several misc animations and events flat out do not have sound effects implemented in the game such as running or dropships dropping off enemies. Sound design is easily the most half as**d effort I've ever encountered in a game.
The game wreaks of cheapness.
Wouldn't pay money for this if it wasn't a f2p game.
Couldn't disagree more. This game is amazing, firstly it's free, all the characters and items that can be bought are all unlockable by playing the game...I don't understand nitpicking and complaining about a free game, either play it or don't buy ingame content or don't it's still fun
Im having fun, and that's all that matters
not realy, you need other people to be happy too or the game dies. Like most live-service, this game will die too
I'm hearing people say great gunplay
Stand still while shooting walk back to reload
Do you have to buy the intelligence for the NPC's in a MT or wil it be added in a patch later on ?
gunplay is pretty basic. i dont know why people are hyping it up
lol, yeah AI is trash, sometimes when enemies spawn, you just kill them standing there xD
The only problem I have is these boss missions are severely lacking healing. They’re healing drops are fucking garbage. There’s been missions where I’ve killed 30+ enemies and none of them dropped any healing at all that’s insane especially when you have to fight a boss too
So I've tried Destiny. The story is confusing, and I'm blocked by paywalls and missed experiences because I never played on launch.
The Descendents is good because it'd not this over convoluted story that we see in Destiny 1 and 2. Yeah it has that Capcom vibe of silliness, but the game's story is still understandable. The gameplay is really good and the guns are awesome. It's literally a free game so go check it out. I feel a 5 is a bit low for the game.
Need more 3rd person shooters in my life, but the warframe vibes are too strong for more than a few hours of checking it out and waiting until they fix the microtransaction economy

Fun game lots of potential my opinion
If you care about gameplay and fun then it's a solid 7, I haven't been hooked in a game for months and tbh The First Descendant is the reason why l've been turning my PS5 after I get home from work lately.
You can cancel Lepic's animation rolling
the end game loop of getting a low drop rate item, to use on a boss 'altar' for a low chance to get what you want on repeat is soooo boring and the fact that some mission types dont have matchmaking in hard mode is abysmal since they saved so much dev time in development reusing the same mission style 1-4 99% of the time.
This is all coming from someone who has 4 max level decendants and all 100 level gear.

I would play this if it wasn't free to play. The F2P concept is a virus that has plagued the gaming industry.
A nice F2P game for a few days, however, the monetasation is abysmal and it got me bored very soon.
But i was entertained for a days without spending anything, so thats okay in my book.
I just dont see this game lasting very long.
Love the game 100% If I have to pay for something I can play anytime I am feeling bored I would with no hesitation I don't care the amount but this one is FREE, not sure how people are missing the point here. What else do you want? A free game with tons of stuff and lots of work put into and expect them not to get anything back? Something is expensive for some people for others is not. Your time is valuable so what is $50 bucks if it makes you happy? We spend money in many other things that don't make us feel good so what is the problem with that? And please to call this repetitive? If you played Destiny like me for 8 plus years you now repetitive right? I can put 100 dollars down to check your build and see an outbreak perfected there that is as old as the game, give me a break. Every single character is fun to play it changes the experience significantly. Not sure what is all the hate coming from honestly.
It's really fun, so far enjoying it
Giving shade to a new game doing its best is in poor taste also think before you talk calling something inferior right at the beginning will get you called out it’s new and the other games like warframe have had years to develop they were not the golden standard at lunch far from it this game is actually better at lunch then warframe was by far just give it time and it may surprise you.
Doing it's best to siphon as much money from you as possible? Yes. Doing it's best at being a good game? No.
Yea this game is dope it’s fun as hell hooding this game stays strong and grows
I am having a hard time playing it anymore, I completed everything in the game. But I am having trouble justifying going on any further, in example to get forma is a massive pain in the ass. The cost of buying a forma in the in-game store is 20 times that of Warframe. In Warframe, to farm components to make forma is passive. Nexon, make it very hard, so you will go buy it. IMHO, the monetization system will kill the game.
"Several aspects were ripped?" They ripped everything. This game is just Warframe + Desinty for porn addicts.
Love it playing as much as I can in my free time. Played nearly 45 hours in the first beta and 10 or 11 in the second on. Little tweeks made I like, gameplay is fun fast, i like how everything is done in terms of unlocking alot like Warframe. Battle pass is low cost 10 bucks gets you some extra skins and boosters like other games as well as some free stuff. It has an amazing tracking system when it comes to finding parts for weapons and characters the stuff that people make outise of gane but its all in game shows you where what you need is even bringing you to that mission and area.

I played it for a lil while yesterday and it wasn’t that bad. I think I’ll play it some more. Ajax feels super fun to play as and I’ve never been big on spending money on free games as it is, so to me, this is a nice break from the competitive gaming world we’ve had shoved down our throats in recent years. I’ll also add that I’ve never played Destiny.
Am I the only one that thinks Borderlands will always be the best looter shooter??? (Destiny is #2 for me in that respect I might just be biased)
This game charges way more than Warframe while offering less than half of Warframe. And I'm not even a huge fan of Warframe. I'd only rate Warframe 7.5 to maybe 8 out of 10.
TFD is a 5/10 at BEST.
This will quickly become the favorite game of all adolescent males. Not only because it includes plenty of virtual T&A, but because it does nothing to encourage or require cooperation with other players in order to "succeed".
You'll farm stuff your never gonna get. I did a mission 22 times for a "20%" drop rate, this is not worth is.
Compared to Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, the First Descendant is much better. The gameplay mechanics has more customization with the weapons and you can grapple hook with any character.
Compared to how other looter shooter games started, it's in a good state, barring the egregious MTX. That said, games like Warframe and D2 have had several years to improve and grow, so those games in their more refined state is what TFD has to compete against. I can see this game growing over time, but the publisher would have to commit to it, while at the same time not chasing away long term players with the overpriced MTX.
Definitely feels like a South Korean made game, so I'm not expecting this to be better than getting a niche audience in the end, but if they're wanting global appeal, the old Nexon way of doing things will come back to bite them, obviously.
It felt more like a North Korean game to me
Yeah I think people really forget how barren warframe and destiny were at launch. Warframe was only void missions and standard missions. And destiny only had nightfalls and heroic strikes.
And while the cosmetics are egregious, I'd rather pay a lot upfront rather than get nickel and dimed at every turn like warframe does.
@@kingpinavatar While there is nickel and diming in warframe, TFD is far worse with the prices. They do a lot of the same things, just with higher price points, from what I can tell so far. Warframe at least it felt I could stretch my platinum purchases or what I got from trading further if I didn't make frivolous purchases, like buying base weapons I could craft really easily anyway.
@@MechaMan2012 I'll have to hit pretty far into endgame before I can tell which one is worse. I just got really tired of warframe. It felt bad having 2K hours in the game and still having to spend plat on reactors and catalysts at the time. Same thing with rushing war frames and formas.
@@kingpinavatar None of those bothered me much, either the reactors weren't that bad because I ended up crafting them most of the time, or I just waited on the timer for the warframes and weapons, but I get how for some it could be a turn off.
Can't complain about MTX costs if yoy never buy MTX's.
For a gane I've paid for I hate MTX's and much prefer having skins, weapons, characters etc that ate unlocked via play/challenges.
As for the game, I have no issues with the grind, etc. It's free to play that's mixed with Warfeane, Destiny, final fantasy, and ANTHEM.
I play about an hour a day so it's not enough time to get a lot done. So my investment isn't huge. But of what I have played it's a fun game.
I don't know why people are being so butthurt about this review. Lol. If you're having fun then so be it enjoy, but the points raised here was fair imho..
I been playing destiny since day 1 please let's not act like bungie isn't money hungry and that destiny isn't repetitive as hell
The first destiny was great but destiny 2 well all of a sudden it turned money, hungry so I left and never went back but I was honestly waiting for destiny 3 but that didn’t happen instead they pushed more content on people and that’s not enough let’s make them keeper paying
Its kinda sad how people go put of their way to defend this game acting like its the greatest game they ever played its Hilarious
And that makes you mad and cry why 😊
I disagree. I have been having lots of fun with it.
I am enjoying the hell out of it. I like the grind system and currently grinding for ultimate bunny for that cake.
you need to buy it with real cash btw, you can only unlock her ult research
How is this game hyped more then warframe while being downgraded warframe game 💀
Ive seen alot of reviews and i believe people should stop comparing warframe with other games / destiny included. Those two games came out at a time was fresh n free and yes other games try to get better but warframe has the base gameplay. This game is what i believe athem should of been, yes skins is the new cash lot but its not new. Until a game brings 100% customization/fresh storyline and great abilities, choose your poison.
Time to jump into Anthem, am I right?!
I want nothing to do with "free to play " games, cost too much lol or companies like EA that make you pay 70, then try to milk you for more constantly. That's why I never tried Diablo 4.
Bewarned, The game is just a cash shop that sells silly looking cosmetics like schoolgirl outfits, maid outfits and frigging panda outfit. They sell at a stupid price too. The Battlepass is pretty lackluster. There is a shooting segment of the game where you shoot things, but the main game is spending money in the cash shop
Some of y'all need to exercise some sell control. I haven't looked at the shop a single time and have been having a good time playing the game. If folks can't avoid throwing all their money away in the cash shop then that is a personal problem they need to work out.
@rla9889 your missing the point. I havnt spent any money on this game. the point is, that I would in support of the game but not when it's greedy like it is. it's called value of money. People are happy to spend money only when the value of the item is worth it.
the price of a bikini outfit shouldn't cost nearly as much as a priced game.
oh and it also has bullshit p2w items to buy.
@@jamesoakley4570p2w items bro?
Seems like you re spitting out stuff just to hate that game. How is it p2w if you re not even possible in gaining a advantage to other players? Its pve not pvp.
Also if you re talking about that material you can buy.
You can easily farm those as well. I m 50 hours in now, and haven't spent any cent.
@@jamesoakley4570You are the type of guy who pays £300 a week on an only fans model
Said somebody who never played the game.
Title meant in the UA-cam community by UA-cam reviewers and content providers, which by the way you’re not providing any content or just providing quick bait so that you can get ant revenue and sponsorship but the entitlement it’s outrageous what you guys think you’re old by game developers again bye or don’t buybut stop talking about it
This game is designed with monetization in mind, gameplay is an afterthought
Im really enjoying it. Guns are fun and even playing with randoms works as people seem to know what their doing.
On console the control customization sucks, I feel like I’m turning a semi truck on max sensitivity
He must not have looked at the Warframe prices. These are very comparable.
Content creators speak out of there asses alot
But this isn’t war frame LOL
TL:DR - No, the prices in TFD and Warframe aren't comparable at all. In terms of pricing, both games are in different galaxies.
Alright, let's talk about the prices in both games and how they translate to time skips when it comes to farming prime/ultimate characters. When talking about pricing for faster progression, it's very important to compare not only prices but also how much they alleviate the grind.
In TFD an ultimate descendant without the skin costs €55 and let's use Ultimate Bunny for this example. One of the two ways to farm her rarest part, which is the Ultimate Bunny Code, is by rotating outpost - void fragment - void reactor missions. Considering the drop chance of the amorphous material of the bunny code from the outpost, the amount of shards you get from the void fragment mission and the needed amount of shards for the void reactor, plus the 5 minute cooldown of the outpost mission, it takes a bit over 20 minutes to open an amorphous material. The base drop chance of the code is 6%, so it's going to take in average a bit over 5 and a half hours just to get this part. You can boost the drop chance of the rare reward to 10% with stabilizers, but they're so scarce and unreliable to farm, that it's not time efficient to farm for those exclusively. The rest of her parts have a higher drop chance, but it's still going to take a couple of more hours to get them.
When it comes to Warframe, you can also directly buy the prime warframes, but you're getting way less value for your money spent. If you're a resourceful person, you won't buy them from the market itself, instead you'll buy them from other players by trading, thanks to the fact that the premium currency can actually be traded there. Most of the prime warframe sets get traded for under 100 platinum and very few go above this mark. The platinum package that has the closest cost to the cost of an ultimate in TFD has a price of €45 and gives you 1000 platinum. Of course, since you're purchasing the parts of the warframes, you'll actually need to craft them, but the resources aren't time consuming to get and the crafting times aren't that bad as some people believe them to be, since you can do tons of other stuff while waiting. In case anyone who hasn't played Warframe is wondering why I wrote that you get less value for your money spent, it's because you would need to spend a massive amount of money to have a noticeable increase in your account progression speed. If we go back to the previous example with the €45 package that gives you 1000 platinum, that saves you only about 8 hours of farming, because the most efficient methods for farming platinum net you about 120-130 plat/hour.
With all of the said, we can finally compare how big of a time skip you get by spending money in both games when it comes only to characters. If we combine the examples that I gave for both games, also if we assume that it would take about 8 hours to farm all of the Ultimate Bunny items, which is probably a bit far-fetched, for roughly the same amount of money you get the same amount of time skip. The issue is that you get only one ultimate descendant for that amount of money/time spent in TFD, while in Warframe you can get 10+ prime warframes at the same money/time cost. There are even more big discrepancies between both games, like how much more expensive money and time-wise modding related enhancing items are, such as Crystallization Catalysts and Energy Activators, the equivalent in Warframe being Forma and Reactor. I won't go through every price difference between both games, since this is just a YT comment and not a blog post. And I wouldn't even touch the subject about skin prices, since they're entirely subjective and your value on them is entirely based on your opinion, which is different for everyone. But regarding skins, it has to be said that Warframe gives you a very generous amount of free skins, while the same can't be said about TFD and you're not even allowed to change the color of the default skins.
