- Limited to an All wheel Drive? Do not let that stop you from having fun. Get out and enjoy your self on the beach. I took the RAV4 out for its first time on soft sand and I was surprised by the way it handled.

looks like a great time with the Mrs.. nice work man.. get it..
I am surprised to learn the RAV4 has a centre diff lock option, certainly adds to more capability on the soft stuff. Nice upload.
Very much appreciate you watching the video, in all honesty the RAV feels alot more comfortable on the beach than a 76 series landcruiser.
@@JoshBushwacker appreciate that you took the time to reply - affordable technology advances giving us better options in terms of mid range soft-roading use. I consider myself well versed in alternatives when it comes to hitting the trails. I did hear the Kluger AWD also gets a center lock, am surprised the RAV4 did as well though as I said but just these small things change the capability of driveline and power delivery to wheels to make your general select SUV an option for still getting out and about not to mention how light that vehicle would be I would imagine compared to a 76.
@@AllTerrainAction As the new tech is easier to manifest the widely available it becomes and more accepted. Ill be sure to check out some of your videos mate.
@Josh Bushwacker don't look to closely, we're a little crazy over there. 😂 Cheers mate!
Great Video! I always wondered how the RAV4 would go on sand and if the diff lock made a difference in the sand. Sadly most sandy tracks in queensland require the car to be awd only and states that no awd cars are acceptable.
Good spot that 👍
Hello, nice video. What psi did you dropped the tires to when driving on the sand? and would it be the same for sand dunes? Thanks!
Thank you for watching. It was about 18 psi i think. I didn't drive it on the sand dunes as it violates the environment protection plan.
happy birthday btw.. lol
Good to have a mate in Pajero
Is the clearance enough for most beaches?
I did not seem to have an issue, the biggest thing I would say is use common sense. They are a lot lighter than your average 4x4 which makes a huge difference for floating on top of the sand in my belief.
did you have highway tyres on?
Yep , the stock ones
Is 2 whell drive still viable in the sand?
Fuck no mate
I know of many 2WD that have pushed around in the sand only 1 that came standard with rear wheel differential locking (Ford RTV) and any modified 2WD/RWD with a helical gear style LSD. Although at this point if you don't already own the vehicle and are looking to pick one up that isnt a full sized four wheel drive, there are plenty of newer model AWD and a few select older model AWD's with decent capability, just comes down to what your looking to achieve on a weekend basis I guess - but your common say Commodore wouldn't be able too.
