I just bought one of these and I was starting to doubt it and now I saw this you made me happy about my purchase rav4 is so getting through almost all terrain
I'm pretty sure his is a manual and those came with a center diff lock (I think). That would make the manual ones more off road capable. Don't quote me though, I'm still learning about these.
@@everready19373 actually all awd rav4s first generation came with a center diff the difference is a manual ones came with a button to engage it when needed the automatic’s came with a system that would automatically engage when one wheel lost traction I think it depends on what region of the world the car was sold tho I can’t remember from what I read about the car

I know the 97 model was sold awd in the U.S. for sure because mine was bought new from a dealership in Colorado. There were some models with the more powerful engine from the celica sold in Japan though. U.S. models came stock with the 3S-FE engine and the Japanese models were offered with the 3S-GE Beams engine used in the Celica GT-4 I believe.
Ive own mine for 5 years best off and on road vehicle ive owned im from New Zealand and mines 1994 2 door manual with c.diff button exactly the same as this one on the video , you can check my channel on my build of the rav4 ,My cousin got the 4 door Automatic transmission one as well but that lacks on power as it goes into a high gear low revs on soft ground like sand that where the manual can easily change down gears for high revs and get out , ive did a little mods to mine ive bash plated fuel tank an engine sump and welded angle bar to the rear stable bars to make them stronger, upgrading the centre drive shaft and rear diff mounts and upgrading the stable bar and stable bar links and welded the control arm tabs where the stable bar link connect to because manufacturers only weld one side of the Tabs its important because when the Rav flexs that tab seems to rip out, so it pays to weld the other side to stop that from happening , i think the last mod i will do one day is put the gene4 3sgte engine in it

I’ve off road my mk2 RAV with great success against so called off roaders with a set of BF Goodrich tyres, that gives it extra ground clearance,its narrow and lighter than Land Rover or Landcruiser……so far it not embarrassed me. Don’t need diff locks low ratio gears it just does the job ❤

На патроле ходом идёт, ну молодцом. Равчик конечно порадовал в умелых руках. Вот хочу сменить хайс региус на 1kz-te на 11 рафа (пятидверный).

Why wasn't the rav4 using its center diff lock? Appears some wheels spinning whilst others not? The mitsubishi would have been much much better with better tyres for the conditions.

@@ПппРрр-ц6д приводная часть в отличном состянии. Нива и рядом не стоит по надежности. У рава единственный узел, который требует внимания, это передний ступичный подшипник.
Where'd you get your lift kit from and how big is the lift kit? Also if I did the same lift as you with 235/60R16 tyres would my 2003 RAV4 (4 door) be roughly the same height as yours (from ground to underneath) ?
My is four doors but after upgrade the rear and front coil springs, I equally change the tires from 225/16r to 235/16r which gives my 1998 rav4 full projet of road 4x4
