Finally! I am getting a Toyota RAV4 prime hopefully sometime in May. There are lots of videos on driving off road but very little driving on beaches. Lucky for me you drive the same beach I do. A quarter of the times my buddies and I cruise to Port Mansfield in there lifted trucks and tricked out jeeps when we get there there is a tiny RAV4 with road wheels on it like, “took you guys long enough” lol and I will be able to hit the passes with them just to make their overinflated manhoods look even more ridiculous at great mpg🤣
I'm looking to buy something that i can drive on the beach too. what yr do you have, it's an AWD? were you able to enjoy it on the beach with no problems? thank you in advance.
I would be interested in seeing what happens in reverse, if it's like my Prius hybrid the internal combustion engine cannot provide mechanical help, it can only run the generator forward and you are reliant on electrical power alone to push you backwards. Lots of people have brought Lexus hybrids and found they couldn't back the boat up a steep driveway.
Does that Rave4 hybrid have only the electric motor powering the rear wheels once it detects slippage from the front wheels? Or can you lock wheels to a 50/50 split?
The 2017 has two 50 hp electric motors, one in front and one in back. The gas motor only does the front. It's not lockable and I think it's always pushing the back motor. I don't notice it engaging when it slips.
Air down to 15psi and use trail mode with traction control off. I've driven mine through fairly deep sand on the dunes. If you get stuck, you can air down to 10 psi and turn vsc off too. 2022 hybrid

Nice. Prime is one sweet rav. Can't wait to see some videos. Only issue I have is I cannot in ruts. Don't have the ground clearance.

No worries. Was fun. Goal was to get stuck, had a jeep with us but i never got stuck. Ground clearance is the only thing I would worry about.

It's not even soft sand mate , My two wheel drive would go through there.

Did you use power mode or just normal mode with traction control off?
This version of RAV4 doesn't have any modes. And I left traction control on.
@@908gad I’m talking about eco mode, ev mode and sport modes which the buttons are located near the first cup holder near the cigarette chargers.
