I love how you said style roots are the ones you keep coming back to and not just what you like on a whim! Bc I’ve made the mistake of impulsively changing my style roots and buying new clothes that I don’t end up wearing. This made me realize I keep coming back to flower and mushroom no matter what!
@@nagoregartzia909 totally get mountain for workwear - stone, flower and moon are style roots of mine and I've noticed most workwear I add to my wishlist is like flower with mountain. I feel like a trick for work wear (depending on dress code) is combining your style roots with mountain.
I found that Mountain is one of my style roots. I thought my style roots were Flower, Mushroom, and Mountain but it turns out to be Earth, Mushroom, and Mountain.
I think mountain might be my 3rd style root, after stone and sun 👀 But I'll still wait for the other videos of this series to make sure! I really like how you presented mountain in different contexts and throughout the year... it was very VERY enlightening! I also like how you showed examples of mountain combined with other roots! This video was very well structured!
I LOOOOOVE having different levels of formality with the style roots. I’m trying to incorporate my style roots into every single piece of clothing I own, from socks to athletic gear, to blouses and dresses. I am so excited for the rest of this series! My vote is for flower next! ❤️
no matter how much I tried to wear the "casual fits " Like baggy jeans, big over size tshirts "mountain" was rly the one that made me feel much more me and confident! Cant wait to watch the whole video
This helps so much! My roots are mushroom, flower, and mountain, but I really struggled to find a way to incorporate the mountain root in a more casual sense. My job requires some formality in attire, but I spend a lot of time doing outdoors activities (hiking, fishing, camping, etc.) in the literal mountains on the weekend - especially when the weather is warm. Add the extreme change of seasons and temperature, it was too easy to get lost and grab something that is more stone or earth.
I feel like Style Essence reflects more our personality rather than style or body type. Because when you are comfortable in what you wear (which comes from being at peace with who you are), people see that and pay attention to what you’ve got to say.
Mountain is not one of my style roots, but still loved this video! Could you do the same thing with fire, but do a progression of modesty instead of formality? That’s one the hardest things for me with fire
WHOAH I think mountain may be the key to unlocking my style roots! I dismissed it for a long time bc I don't like corporate or preppy styles, but learning about the formality matrix and how mountain combines with other style roots has been so eye opening. They all influence each other and can balance and/or juxtapose each other in fascinating ways! I used to only think of conservative brands like Ann Taylor or Banana Republic when I thought of mountain. But now I realize it can be very creative too; Consider how Sezane combines mountain, earth, and sun for a look that's polished, relaxed, natural, and artsy. Or how Kate Spade combines mountain, flower, and sun for a unique retro girly fantasy. There is so much more to mountain than I thought!
I loved the different sections of this video, especially formality, seasons, and what it looks like combined with the other style roots! Looking forward to videos like this for the other style roots too!
Can't wait for the rest of these videos. I currently have Moon, Mushroom, Flower and stone as my roots, hopefully the videos will help me narrow it down to 3! I especially liked the section where you showed how the roots interact with each other. It confirmed what my roots are because as soon as I saw a mountain outfit combined with moon or stone it became something I might wear.
Soooo thrilled for this video it’s exactly what I’ve been searching for! I love how you structured it and gave so many different angles for understanding the Mountain root from its foundations, to seasons, occasions, and combinations. It was suuuper helpful to see the casual side of Mountain, on the spectrum I’m more on the casual to middle area of the root. I also appreciate you describing how one’s experience with fashion (whether or not they resonate with casual leggings/hoodies or professional wear) could be a clue for us! As someone who has Mushroom, Fire, and Mountain roots I loved to see those combinations and it confirmed for me that Mountain is one of my roots so long as the sharpness is softened by Mushroom & Fire roots! Mountain provides the polished and elevatedness I search for in my style. Thanks for this, really looking forward to the rest of this series!
Mountain style root is essential for me, to put some logic, quality and polish in the mix of my Moon and Stone style roots. It's makes more maturity in outfit and it's "powerful without the need to say or prove something". I love your system of style tools.
This video was SO helpful. Mountain is my main style root with a side of stone and mushroom. All of the examples you provided were attainable and gave me lots of inspiration for what I have in my closet.
This was such a sleek, well put-together video! Can’t wait to see more deep dives. Also I’ve been following you for a while and I hope you don’t mind me saying that I think this is the best you’ve looked in a video! I’m not sure if you’ve tweaked your makeup or have new skincare but you’re just absolutely glowing here.
Ellie , your blonde is literally perfection ! I’m obsessed with how dreamy and soft you look with this shade and yes I love a cozy cream or white sweater as you wore in the thumbnail. Your style is really shining !!
Thank you Ellie-Jean for this mountain-themed video. I was very curious about this specific style root and its combinations with others, partly because it suits the vertical line of the frame-dominant Kibbe types. This video is super helpful and insipiring. 💜
Thank you Ellie ! I have mountain in my style roots but I struggle with moments like walking my dog - the “mountain” clothes are usually expensive and I don’t want to ruin them in the forest with my dog but I still would like to look elegant without looking inappropriate
I tend to go very Dark Academia/New England preppy/British country for hiking, gardening, biking, etc. I can shovel, climb, or bike in a tailored pullover, a midi-length wool skirt, and a pair of real leather boots/nice wellies.
Browse "Princess Catherine walks hiking nature" to see great example of "old money" hiking style. Jeans (non-ripped, non-faded) are elevated by knee-high flat"riding" boots, and a linen shirt instead of a t-shirt. Catherine sometimes wears a classic English tweed houndstooth wool blazer. You can probably pick up this sort of timeless garment at a bargain price at a second hand shop. People tend to save their wool blazers "for best" so any second-hand one is likely to be in excellent condition.
Thank you for starting with my dominant root! And especially for showing how it pairs with Mushroom. I've been wondering if Mushroom is redundant as a secondary and now I think it might be more tertiary for me.
This whole root series has been such an eye opener. I kept buying or getting flower / sun styles and I didn't like or didn't know how to pair. Taking a step back I love mountain, mushroom and moon/earth. No wonder I immediately want to dye all my prints in sold dark colours 😂😂
I really loved the formality matrix section showing examples for a certain outing! 6:30 and on was so helpful. 😊I would have loved for that bit to be slowed down with even more outing examples! Thank you for sharing❤
I'm a moon, sun, flower 🌙☀🌸 Today I'm wearing an outfit that incorporates all three, and feel so empowered. You've really shifted the way I think about my style.
i think mountain is my style root; i dress in dark academia 75 percent of the time ; the other 25 percent i dress in a office kind of way ; also my style is a stereotypically masculin style ; thank you very much for clearing up my confusing as i have always been torn between the academia and the office style without knowing they have similar roots that is why i was attracted to them both ; and also for helping me identify my style and elevate it 💗
I'd like to see a video on the differences between french (black and white, runway, edgey open cut), English (soft , gentle, mature ladylike pastels),and Hollywood (tv medium, contrast, color science) style , because things like dark colors, especially black ,that are conservative in European fashion aren't in English fashion - it's too obvious during the day. The contrasts would be interesting 😊.
I love your perspective. Like, are these trends or do you just have specific style roots? Everyone’s so obsessed with trends now it’s nice to see someone being like no we’re gonna get authentic over here😂❤
This is excellent! I can’t wait for all these videos to really help me narrow down my style roots that make sense for me and my lifestyle. I love mountain elements if I get to dress up a bit, but I am a trainer so spend most of my time in “stone” type clothing, and I think I add elements of moon and earth, depending on the day and event. But I can’t determine which 3 would be my ideal most dominant given my lifestyle AND my preferences. But love the process of figuring it out!
This is just so fabulous! I am new to discovering your style roots and have known mountain is very much a part of *me*! This video opened my awareness to using it with color! I have always been a little afraid to admit that Sun is in the mix. But now I see how to use it with my very strong love -Mountain! Thank you!
Mountain is one of my style roots, along with stone and moon. I find that I lean more towards my mountain roots with work clothes and more towards stone with my casual, "just going to the store" clothes. Absolutely love oversized blazers and chunky knits for work.
I find when I dress the way I want and stand out to the areas norm, even grocery shopping, I get compliments by the check out people or others shopping.
I thought that I was earth, sun, flower; after watching this, I'm certain that I am earth, sun, mountain. Thank you so much for your system and the clarity it's given me.
So excited to see all the deep dives on style root! Im hoping it might be able to help me differentiate between style roots. For example, I struggle to identify whether I'm Stone or Earth because I wear a lot of swear pants and sweat shorts but i dont relate to it because its athletic looking, but because its comfortable, grounded, and the silhouette is flowing - those descriptors feel more Earth. Thus the confusion...
Thank you so much for all your effort with these videos Ellie-Jean, I tell everyone I know about your channel! I've realised that my style roots are Mountain and stone with the 3rd one being interchangeable based on my mood and the season. So in winter, it will be paired with mushroom, moon and earth whereas in summer it will be sun, mushroom and earth. I would say fire features very very rarely in my style
Great content ! I wish you had slowed down a bit when you were showing the different levels of formality. The images went by too fast on the screen. Love the info you put out though ❤
Oh my goodness this is my style through and through but with a touch of sun and fire mixed in. I'm loving this content and it's helping me a lot. Thanks so much Ellie!
The more I learn about mountain, the more convinced I get that it's one of my style roots. Definitely not my dominant root, but I really like the sophisticated and powerful undercurrent in my outfits.
I'm really excited to see the continue on with these deep dives! Mountain is definitely a style that I have been very intrigued by so this video is a really helpful resource
Omg I loved thisss😻 please do it for every style root 🩵 I feel like I’m stone&mushroom&mountain and I want to wear “cleaner” more natural outfits as I’m getting older but at the same tume I wanna be fire as well🥲 I think ultimately my outfits would come down to my self confidence and the environment where I currently live (eastern europe vs western europe)
I’m really looking forward to these videos being done for all the other style roots! I definitely have mountain in my style, but these deep dives will help me find my main root, as well as give me ideas for how to dress
For inspiration, Petra Salano on Jane, the virgin, does mountain/flower (not sure about the last influenced) in a cool way, giving a powerful and girly.
I think your style roots is the system that has helped and inspired my style the most! I am pretty sure my style roots are mushroom, earth and flower but I eagerly await the rest of the deep-dives 🤩
I really struggled with keeping my mountain root when i lived in a hot place. I missed my blazers and sweaters and boots so much. So this is so interesting and helpful!
Mountain is one of my style roots, along with moon and mushroom. When I would work in an office, I enjoyed dressing semi-professionally even when I could get away with a T-shirt and jeans. Now that I work from home, I’m trying to incorporate my formal pieces into my everyday wear so that they don’t just gather dust in my closet.
I love how you show the combinations! It really makes it easier to relate it to how I might wear it. Like I I knew Sun immediately with your first video, and then I picked up with more that mountain was another one for me. But trying to figure out my third has been all over the place. I think especially with sun being my root like to borrow a little bit from everything, because I’m pretty playful with my clothes. But watching the combos, I was able to think “ which of these groupings of outfits between all the combinations would I actually put together. Of course, sun and mountain, I would wear any of those outfits easily . But the other one that really stood out to me was earth and mountain. I feel like I would wear any of the mountain and earth outfits,, but I would probably wear them with an interesting shoe, or an unusual hat. I also have always loved 1940s clothing. Like not just what celebrities wore during that time but the every woman. and I think a lot of the outfits are also very earth and mountain, though some of them are a bit more mountain sun.
I've rarely seen such a fitting collaboration with a brand. This felt really organic. And I'm looking forward to more deep dives, this was awesome and eye-opening!
I think of ice blue, purple, grey, and white snow top when I think of 🏔️ mountains. Forests and meadows on a mountain as well. I think of garnets from the Carpathians.
My best combinations of mountain and stone is a black halter top with a light blue blouse over it, a long necklace, fitted jeans and old fashioned combat boots (like those nice fitted brown old fashioned boots. They're weirdly both classy and cool looking), or a light coloured blouse and a black corduroy waistcoat and black pants and the same combat boots for more formal occasions. It both stylish and classy but also relaxed and cool. I do get that's it's more masculine (I prefer masculine styles and it looks good for my FN frame), but it's looks really classy, while I'm also very comfortable in them. Both also probably can fit in any (dark, light, etc.) Academia styles depending on the colours and the details. (also for anyone who likes them, waistcoats are amazing for the mountain style). For hoodies, I tried, but I don't think it'll work. I've got a few 'hoodies' made of different material, like linen that falls more elegant, but I think the hood just makes it too casual no matter the fit or the material. Maybe a hooded fancy cloak for in the winter? I dunno, I'm genuinely curious if hoodies could work for the mountain style root.
Hi! This deep dive is amazing! You're so sweet teaching about fashion in this and other vids and You're so hard working!👏👏✨️🩷💕💕 Thank You so much Ellie!💕🩷💕 Mountain is maybe 3rd or 4rd for me (black & white comb, high neck, lather, cotton, strong ,powerful, tailored) I am so excited about other parts!☺️🩷💕
Another great video! I think I'm a soft gamine, only five feet tall and definitely double-curved, small hands and feet, but longer arms, angular shoulders, pointy chin and short-waisted, a UK 16 petite. A winter (of some sort!), high contrast coloring (dark brown eyes/very white hair/neutral beige skin w/ cool blue undertones), a retired theater teacher who still practices craft. When I discovered your Style Roots, I suddenly had a system that allowed me to combine the disparate elements of my life with my curvy body. I gravitate towards Sun + Mountain + Stone. I'll take an edgy printed top, throw it over leggings and ballet flats, and top that with a blazer and fedora. And somehow it works!!!
I wasn't sure if Mountain was in my style roots from the words you used to describe it, but I knew it was one of mine when I saw you'd used a few photos that I had already pinned on my pinterest long ago!
This video was so helpful! It's finally clicked that I'm definitely mountain. I had even already saved some of the pictures you showed lol. Helps that I'm also a soft dramatic. Thanks for all the help!
Love this video! So keen to see the rest of the series. Can you please make a video looking at how the different kibbe body types may fit well / struggle with each style root? 🙏 I feel like dramatic types would find it easier to adopt mountain than romantics
i am undergoing a style change at the moment. Ithought mountin was leaving my 3 style roots now I see that it is just changing to a more casual masculine version of mountin thanks for the video
Such a fantastic video! Mountain (with mushroom next and some flower) is totally me except that I live in a tropical country 😅. Thank you for covering the seasons as well as the range from casual to formal

Mountain is the LAST of my preference, but I love to watch every video of you
I love how you show the combinations!
I cannot wait to see the deep dive for all style roots!
While I LOOOOVE Mountain, it will always come second to stone for me, thank you so much for the deep dive 🫶🏾
Ellie! yessss please do a deep dive into all your SR and your Pinterest boards xx
I think of ice blue, purple, grey, and white snow top when I think of 🏔️ mountains. Forests and meadows on a mountain as well. I think of garnets from the Carpathians.
This style series is sooo good! would love a video analysing matilda djerf's style roots
Thank you for giving us permission at the outset! lol hiding your mountain style root is a definitely a thing and I didn’t even realize it!
I can’t wait to see the rest of the style root videos! Loved this!
lovee this series! your videos have helped me so much in figuring out my style.
I love this! Mountain is my second style root! Cant wait for fire!
Hi! This deep dive is amazing!
You're so sweet teaching about fashion in this and other vids and You're so hard working!👏👏✨️🩷💕💕
Thank You so much Ellie!💕🩷💕
Mountain is maybe 3rd or 4rd for me (black & white comb, high neck, lather, cotton, strong ,powerful, tailored)
I am so excited about other parts!☺️🩷💕
I'm so excited for the next style roots!
This video was so helpful! It's finally clicked that I'm definitely mountain. I had even already saved some of the pictures you showed lol. Helps that I'm also a soft dramatic. Thanks for all the help!
Love this video format! Can’t wait to see more like this
Love this video!
Yes! Love these deep dive videos. I'm still a little fuzzy on style roots so I'd love to see one for each
9:30 is MY DRESS! 😍
Can’t wait for you to do the psychedelic style root
I recently found out I am a mix of Stone (70%), Mountain (15%) and Moon (15%). This is so helpful and interesting. I need to check out those Pinterest boards. Next video has to be about Stone root style please!
Thank you for this video, it made me realize I actually don't have mountain as a style root.
Hmmmm, I thought mountain was in my roots, but this video has actually helped me realise that AT MOST its my third root if at all.
really cool and thorough educational product, cant say otherwise! I love the formality matrix! this video is of a great quality and, I hope, is the begining of a mini-series with 8 episodes :)
Love this video - the editing is fab and info is really easy to digest! Loving the Pinterest also helped me find my style roots!
I hope you continue this series for all the style roots!! My main is Sun 🌞 🌞
