Please do a most flattering wedding dresses for each body type! I think I am soft dramatic, but I love ethereal/whimsical style dresses. I have a wedding next year and don't know which direction would be best. Thanks!
I kinda started to watch these videos as a way to figure out my personal style and find a wardrobe that I feel good in, but at the end I'm just being fascinated about how much literature and discussion there is around personal style, silhouettes, etc. It's really interesting. I was always drawn into fashion but I'm actually considering getting some kind of education on this. Anyways, I just suscribed.
Me too! It's become a big topic of discussion with a couple of friends. They don't have time to watch as much UA-cam as I do, so I watch tons of content and then relay what I've learnt and my thoughts in long voice messages we've dubbed podcasts 😂 I'm seriously thinking of starting a UA-cam channel just to discuss this stuff, I've become so invested it's actually ridiculous
This is fascinating but it definitely feels more high-fashion; I'm such a casual dresser I really don't see myself in any of the types just looking at them off the bat, lol. It usually becomes clearer with more thought though!
Same. I'm a T-shirt or sweater and jeans person. I can't really picture myself choosing any of these outfits (unless I was playing a character in a play). I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing because it makes me happy.
It's so fascinating how kibbe, zyla and your style roots complement and overlap each other. I'm a true summer and though I look best in irdidescent summer colors, I'm really drawn to the dusky summer. Then I realized the cut of the clothes seem to be just perfect for a soft natural (which I am) and "earth mother" ist very in tune with my mushroom, earth and fire style roots.
I agree so much! I also think we can easily link this system to essences. I’m a True Summer as well and fit in the Elegant Bohemian archetype. Turns out I have Dramatic and Romantic essences, which I think also match very well with the archetype + my style roots
Even though this systems seems quite interesting since it mix personality and style I found it to be more useful for character creation purposes. If you have an idea of a character and his personality you can draw inspiration of their fashion from these archetypes. I'm a winter and I don't relate to the style recommendations nor the personality descriptions of the winter archetypes
Sem falar que nossa personalidade é fluída, muda conforme o contexto. Não somos só uma coisa. Agora podemos ter uma impressão tipo: alegre, reservada, atraente etc. Mas dizer que somos assim é o fim.
I agree with you. I think i would enjoy reading this book immensely for art and literary appreciation but i wouldn't use it as a style guide. I'm a Winter too, btw, and none resonated either. I could contrive to pigeonhole into Ballerina, but it is way too constricting. Anyway, strangely, some Winter fell into a Summer bucket - Jeweltones.
eldrich is a old world for uncanny, unsetling, many times people refer to the works of H. P. Lovecraft as being eldrich (there's even a table top game called eldrich horror that is looselly based on his world populated by old terrifying god monsters that rise from the depths) a beatnik on the other hand were a movement of american writers and artists around 1950-1960, they went against society norms and conducts, wrote books about the bohemian life or life on the road or being poor in LA trying to make a living writing and lived outside the mainstrem. I guess we could enrage them and say they were the hipsters of yore
I love the way you’ve laid all these out, and your commitment to only quoting his book and Pinterest. However, for those DIYing, I’d caution against using the personality associations as the main way to lead to one’s archetype. It’s not simply about which one you relate to most on a deep level (for example, I’m a Sunset Summer which is a thoughtful and sensitive archetype, but I have a silly side, a severe side, etc). It’s more of, “what impression do you give off?” or “what character would you be cast as in a movie?” David speaks more about this on one of his episodes of “Feel Good Beauty” on UA-cam, I believe it’s episode 3.
I can't figure out my own color season, so I was looking forward to learn about these archetypes and hoping to find myself as one of them. Turns out, I got even more confused after watching this video! 😂
Tbh this system is for a very specific type of taste and he vastly stretches the “ethereal” concept. I wouldn’t come to this system if I was just starting to find my style.
@@n.n8991 thank you! 💛 I can't decide between those two. I can guess the right answer for almost every online example, celeb pics, etc...but not for myself 😅
If you have trouble fitting yourself into the 12 seasons system, you may have an olive undertone. It's not a given, but the majority of olives struggle to put themselves into one category in this system (e.g. I am a pale warm olive, but my dark blue-green eyes, ashy blond hair etc. send me to the summer category. At the same time, the colours that actually look good on me are in the autumn category, some from the deep autumn, some from the soft type, but I do not truly fit nicely in any of the autumn subcategory, and I can even borrow from the dark winter and soft summer - go figure).
This seems to be a fun archetype theory to experiment with but does not have any actual bearing to connect to a person's style. I'm a muted autumn. The only ones I related to were dusky summer and antique winter, and most of the lines are too heavy for me. Personality completely off. But this was fun.
very interesting; this retired librarian wants to get the book and read it so she has background information. I didn't think I needed this video but your presentation intrigued me.
LOL stoppp. 😍 I recently found out I’m a Soft Summer - confirmed when I watched your last video on finding your true colors - and I have to be the Renaissance Summer! The guy I’m seeing has commented that I look like that queen you show here, my best friend once commented that I look like I’m from the Renaissance, and my WiFi network is literally called “Princess Tower.” 😂 Great video, girl! Keep up the great work!
I'm a winter (and also a kibbe Gamine) and when you were describing the winters I was like ohh that could be me.. hmm.. but somethings missing. And then as soon as you described Ballerina Winter I was like YUP that's me! 🤣 Some stylists like Zyla and Kibbe have such a talent for these sorts of things, it's amazing. 🥰
The Gamine Autumn (the stylish beatnik), the Soft Winter (the romantic poetess) and the Jeweltone Summer (The Glamorous Career Girl) resonated most with me. I'm very soft-spoken, but mythology always interests me. I love learning and being the one in the group who's the "smart one" or "knows things." I'm very attracted to Goth and Gothic styles, but I like hints of gentility or sweetness. Like, if Persephone (the Greek goddess of spring AND the underworld) had a closet full of corporate wear...that would be my dream wardrobe. It's hard to pinpoint my exact style archetype since women who look like me are typically shoved into the autumn color season category. 🍂
I was watching through the winter archetypes doubting that anything would land… thinking maybe I have winter coloring but not personality… then hit Playful Winter and was like 😮!!!! That is ME 🤸♀️ Thanks so much Ellie-Jean for opening this new fashion/expression door to explore! I am really looking forward to learning more. Your videos make intimidating concepts so clear and feel totally fun and accessible. I am very impressed with and grateful for your work! 🙏
I think this was your best video yet! I loved this so much because it brought so much more dimension to people. Its so interesting how you naturally are drawn to your color season in this as well because I immediately identified with spring which is what my color season is already. I'm going to need to save this and go through it again to take notes. Great Job!
I’d love more about David Zyla! It’s difficult to get past thinking about your color season in the 12 types haha. I am a soft summer, but I could be a spring in Zyla!
I resonate most with the mysterious mermaid... I am a soft summer and I used the term "mermaid colours" before to accurately describe the colours that suit me best and that I actually also like wearing :)) thanks for the video, I love these kinds of categories and archetypes, I dont look at it too strictly though, I just like playing around with it!
This is all really beautifully described and put together but I feel like I can never find info about style/guidance as a woman who wears menswear (besides advice which is basically "Don't do this" lol). I wonder how I could adapt some of this kind of guidance to work for me & other masculine women who still want to pay attention to colour, proportions etc
Gabrielle Arruda made a video about menswear (for women) for the kibbe id's. But I agree, those kind of tips and archetypes are often very focused on feminine, glamorous styles
This was amazing Ellie!!! By the way I did the color palette based off your body features with 7 women in my family and my boyfriend’s mom. I created a grid of different colors, elements, sometimes even clothing items or textures for each lady and they loved them!!!! Helped me bond with my fam :)
Great video! I have been following David Zyla for a few years and have his books. He has a UA-cam channel where he recorded a series of live shows he did a couple years ago. In Episode 3 he explains the archetypes and some ways to find your own. In the other episodes he talks about finding your personal colors. He also travels around the US and Europe analyzing clients in person.
Thanks Ellie-Jean ! I’ve always loved Zyla’s concept of finding one’s own colors in one’s own face and body coloring, and I find it very cool that you give us a good summary of the archetypes 😉 good job 👍 thanks ❤✨🙏🏼
@@sarahnelson8836 I did not mind the language, no… found it poetic and quite imaginative, in fact… I am not easily bothered or offended, in general. Sorry you felt offended… maybe it’s not for you… it was written some time ago…
@@nomadhawk2 that makes sense, I like the poetic parts and the general way it was described- just the women as less than people/ creatures parts got me a bit. Sunset summer and the jewel toned summer seems to be me. So interesting! I tend to consider myself a deep winter in the other system. Love this! Thank you
I'm think I'm a softer winter in my colors (like if winters can have 10/10 bright colors on a scale and summers can have 1/10, I think I'm 7/8 means not all my colors are really bright, while also have high contrast and being somewhat cool toned), so Soft Winter sounds perfect, also by personality! As someone who felt confused after finding some people and articles claim the high contrast = dramatic, cold and even bossy personality, this video feels more spot on!
Great job covering all of those! I’m also a Classic Summer, with a dash of Sunset. I’m really enjoying this system. It just really dialled in my palette, personality and I love how he gives ideas for how to incorporate colours into your home.
I am an Autumn, but the sunset Summer- elegant bohemian spoke most to me in description and the images. Something about all of it felt very Autumn witchy vibes.
This is way better for me! I cannot figure out what my color seasons are or my body type, but it’s so easy to pick out my favorite style seasons (mostly springs, a couple summers and one winter), which is fascinating. If I can stick to my favorites, maybe that’ll make it easier to figure out what my body type is?
I'm pretty sure I'm some type of spring in color analysis, but none of these spring archetypes were exactly me personality or clothing taste wise. But then the jeweltone summer came along and HIT IT. I love that style, those colors and the personality description is pretty spot on too. I didn't think I'd fine one archetype that resonated that well, definitely following the moodboard now 😁
While personality is a big part of style so I appreciate he includes it, it’s still hard to identify with one of the very limited number within your own season.
I love the video! I think it's so great to see what colors from the previous Zyla video pop up here. For example I'm a redhead, so the darkest brown and lightest brown in my hair is more similar to a deep auburn and a light gold rather than brown, and that (along with other colors of mine) appears a lot in The Maverick (both here and on his pintrest board)
Thank you so much for everything you do! Your content (along with Aly Art) is really helping me find my style. I've learned I'm a SD/probably bright winter/classic-romantic-engenue essence/classic winter archetype (The Queen). I better be destined for greatness, because that's one heck of a set 🤣
Nice video! You pronounced "impresario" right 😊 A beatnik was a counterculture figure from the 40s/50s; they were against the consumerist/conformist society. From a fashion perspective, their stereotypical outfit was all black, black berets, black turtlenecks, hanging out in coffee shops, listening to jazz and reading the existentialists. So, in today's reference, kind of emo meets hipster, I guess?
Please don't shoot me Ellie, but I feel like this system is not it. As a dramatic autumn with a very "gamine-ish" personality and style I have always longed for a guideline that matches personality and style. However now that I've seen it in practice, it is not ideal. I can see stylex personality work and I can see stylexbody/coloration work. But stylexpersonalityxcoloration is too much. This is because looks and personality have no correlation (I'm the main example of it). This system gives us categories based on colors (which I'm fine with) but he lets the colors define a part of the personality. Autumn has options that have either earthy or fierce/loud/strong in them. And I just don't relate to that, which leads me to wanting to be "another season". This reminds me of the wrong interpretation of kibbe, where a certain body type meant a certain aesthetic. I'm scared that this may have a bit too much of that influenced in here. This is obviously my personal expierience and I'm happy if this helps others, but to me, it's a flawed system.
I'd also like to add that I'm aware that all of these systems are meant to take for personal interpretation. (I'm watching your lifestream in bits and it's very entertaining and interesting). That may work for other systems because they always leaver either body or personality open. (Your roots are personality meets style, while bodytypes are body meets style), so they allow us to match it with our missing element in the unique combination. However, this system has all areas covered in only 26 subtypes? (Edit: just checked and apparently it's even 24..) It feels difficult to interpret them without feeling like breaking them, because he has supposedly done all the matching for us.

I’ve recently been analysed by House of Colour as being a Blue Spring season and having Romantic Classic style, so the Vital Spring Prom Queen is spot on!
You pronounced "impresario" correctly 👍🏻 and beatnik refers to a member/follower of the Beat Generation of the late 1950s to early 1960s. I like his archetypes, they're more complex than what I've come across before, there's quite a few of them I'm drawn to. I still need to figure out my colour season...
Oh my gosh. Thank you for this! I would LOVE to see you make a video (or better yet, a series) on how to combine your Zyla and your Kibbe types. I've now figured out all my "types". I'm definitely a playful winter, that description fit me to a T, and i especially loved the "ballerina" tagline as I am a dancer! I know now that I'm a playful winter, bright spring, and a flamboyant gamine and I'm excited to see how I can bring that all together.
I am a winter and I was disappointed that none of them really resonated until you posted the bonus extra one - I think I am a 'vivid winter'. Otherwise that 'Jeweltone summer' felt quite like me too. It's definitely different from the other systems!
I'm having a hard time recognizing myself in these archetypes, because I feel that all of them are "oh, so polished" I have more like an artsy, rocknroll undone vibe. I have a lot of "out of the ordinary" pieces, but I wouldn't considere them Dramatic or Costumy at all . I do love the video, and I think you've done a great job describing each archetype.
I think I found my match in The Mysterious Mermaid, I'm a Soft Summer that looks good in low contrast and I have an ethereal look about me. I think the personality description sort of fits me too. Quirky, airy, light-handed at least when it comes to the pressure I put on my pencils, and straightforward.
The beatnik was the 1950s hipster. Not in the poodle skirt and angora sweater, she’s wearing the pencil skirt, ribbed turtle neck sweater, beret, smoking a cigarette, listening to jazz (bebop), and reading poetry. These archetypes are so interesting, remind me of Olga ???? Polish stylist who talks of Fairytale, Moon, Royal, English Rose, Mermaid, etc. Hers fold in Kibbe
I've gone through Zyla's book a few times, even managing to identify "My True Colours" using paint sample strips, but I've been stuck on the archetypes. Now that I see the images in your video, I think I've figured out that I'm a Mischievous Spring, which certainly explains why I don't suit a suit. Thanks!😁
Hi Ellie. From what I recall a Beanik "was" from an area in New York City (I think Grenwich?) It was an artsy area and Beaniks would sit in coffee shops and read poetry. But they also had their own way of dressing. I think it was in the 1960's. They wore black, had a certain hair style, a scarf and beret. I hope my memory is correct, ha ha!!
I definitely know using this colour theory I’m either a Spring or Summer. I really resonated with Classic Summer, Iridescent Summer, Flower Spring and Soft Spring the most
Fascinating! I have to look again at the Summer Archetypes because there were two that seemed to indicate "me", perhaps the Earth Mother one. Anyway, I love your videos! And yes, you pronounced "ImpressARI-o" perfectly. Look it up --- it's a very specific thing.
Since I'm STILL not sure if I'm autumn or winter, I'd say the styles closest to me (considering both cuts, colors and feeling) are Copper Autumn, Bronze Autumn, Antique Winter, Vivid Winter. These archetypes are probably the closest I've gotten, in terms of defining my style.
@Natalia Tkaczyk I think it really depends on how pronouced certain features are (which defines the subtypes). for many people, cool and warm are the easiest to see whereas clear and muted or dark and light are sometimes harder. Since IceQueen975 is doubting between winter and autumn, their main feature will probably be dark, because of high contrast in facial features. When people doubt between autumn and spring their main feature will be warm. I myself am still the most doubtfull about my warm/cool part as well. I know I'm muted for sure, which leads me to autumn/summer. I go by autumn with 99% certainty but I will never be 100% sure until I'm properly analyzed in real life (which will never happen because I don't want to pay for it haha)
@@marta83809 the first thing you see when you look at me is contrast - I'm visibly cool-toned and in general have the snow white type of look, so I've never had an issue discovering my season (the only struggle being between clear and bright winter). I always thought that summer and winter are the seasons with more contrast while spring and autumn are more uniform, but what you're saying makes much more sense!
@Natalia Tkaczyk every 2 seasons, have an overlap of one feature. For example, winter matches with autumn in high contrast/deep (however it's called) , with summer in cool tone and with spring in clear. I really like how they are all kind of connected, it means you can often borrow from other seasons for your less pronounced features. At the same time, it's way harder to get to your season by yourself for some of us!
@Natalia Tkaczyk also, I'm not sure what source you worked from since names can differ. But if I have searched it correctly, clear and bright winter are the same season. It's the one that's closest to spring with brightness/clearness as the main feature. You may have figured it out by yourself already, but just saying :))
This is fun! Going off the Pinterest boards I think I'm the iridescent summer mixed with a bit of dusky summer. But my personality would fit closest to the soft winter description. My favourite clothes are the sunset summer ones but I wouldn't wear them personally.
I was thinking the Spring "pixie and maverick" sounded a bit more like me as a petite gamine-ish older woman. I can certainly find some style elements I like to embrace within each season. But, I had my colors many done years ago. The "Playful Winter" would best apply to me having medium contrast, but with a dramatic yet simple style. I look forward to learning more about Zyla. Thank you, Ellie Jean, for creating informative content for all ages.
I would say the Stylish Beatnik comes closest to my style. I love a good signature piece, and I actually just thrifted this hideous and perfect multicolored paisley jacket/dress thing that suits me better than anything else in my wardrobe besides maybe my cream faux fur cropped jacket. It’s so versatile on account of the multitude of colors, and the paisley pattern gives it a very Gram Parsons vibe that I love.
Ooh this is so exciting. My coloring and description sort of matches Dynamic Winter to a T but more with the playful nature of Playful Winter (but I'm not medium contrast at all. Very contrasting so i wonder if I'm just hoping I'm playful and not quite lol. ) Love the video !
I'm reading the book, it's wonderful, but as an autumn that identifies as an elegant bohemian, I'm not sure it's an exact science. You could do something like this with your style roots.
I've been waiting, quite impatiently, for this one! Now it's here, hmmm.... I think I must be a copper autumn. It's hard to relate to the Pinterest boards at all, I much prefer the spring archetypes. I'm sure I'm an autumn though. 🤔
Whoa this was so helpful. I read the book and none of the autumns made sense to me (I'm a soft autumn) but apparently in Zyla, I'm a dusky summer - the earth mother.
I feel like style categorization could benefit from a 3-aspect sliding scale the way the coloring categorization does. You could do classic to dramatic (proportion/structure/silhouette), sleek to intricate/elaborate (physical/sewing/3D details), and solid to bold (pattern/pattern size). I think the combination of those sliding scales would work to give you just about every type of style and then you can add in color/contrast in combination with any of them. This is just a thought, so there could be more than 3. I think the proportion/structure/silhouette category in particular should maybe be more than 1.
respectfully ellie-jean, your energy is muuuuuuuch more perky than any verified summer i’ve seen or spoken with. i would look at springs and only springs 😅
I know that my personal color season is soft autumn, and I think here I would be mellow autumn. But personality-wise I really resonated with dusky summer, and since in seasonal color analysis soft autumn can borrow from the soft summer color palette, im gonna say that I'm a mellow autumn blended with dusky summer 😆 🍂🥀🦋🍃🌻🐌
you can just be a dusky summer. The palettes are a lot more varied then ellie here makes it seem and there is NO direct translation from sci/art or other systems. Plenty of dusky summers have colors ranging from sa, da, ssu, tsu, lsu and possibly DW.
The way sunset summer perfectly described me 👀 Altough actual colors vise i might be more irridescent summer? But personality and style vise its spot on. Thank you for the video
Kitchener essences are also about personality. People always think it’s just physical but it really isn’t. It’s about personality, demeanour and how you feel comfortable also
i wish i found you sooner! we've got the same coloring besides eye color and the same style archytyle. So many hours of blind shopping and regret saved! Haha.
I’m definitely an autumn, but none of those resonated with me at all. I most identify with the Vital Spring. I feel like the combination of colors and personality is great, but this system gives very few options for each season, so I don’t plan on doing anything beyond creating my palette and going with my season. I don’t feel like my style is represented. Interesting concept, though, and I love the idea of “true colors.” I loved finding mine and I can’t wait to use that part of the system more!
oooo which one looks best in loungewear, baggy sweatpants specifically? I feel so out of place with myself when i'm 'dressed up' but costumey- fun- unexpected yes!
Idk if you’re familiar with enneagram where there are “wings” but that’s how I feel about style groups. I’m a 4w5 (so a 4 that shares a lot of characteristics with 5s) When it comes to these I feel like a sunset summer with a bit of spicy autumn
Hi Ellie, I was wondering if you could put together some of your outfits of your classic summer style according to David Zyler to give us a visual of each of his groups. Or maybe just have pics of them for us to get a better idea of how to go about our own season style. Thanks so much!
A beatnik came about in the 60s when people still dressed up for daily life but the beatnik wanted to be the opposite of everyone and everything standard in society. Look up the Audrey Hepburn movie funny girl and she follows a French guru and starts dressing in black ankle pants and sweater and was just anti social against everything. And yes you did pronounce impresario correctly.
can someone explain the difference between the tawny spring and the maberick..? Also what if one describes your personality more but on zyla's boards, the one that describes you slightly less coherently is the one you actually LIKE ?
The Tawny Soring's nickname is the Maverick. I'm a Tawny Spring, and the personality is observant, positive, spritely, fun, curious; and, though zigzagy with crazy energy, super reliable at the end of the day. And yes, whatever style or even hairstyle I wear a lot always appears in all the fashion windows the very next season, lol.
I always thought I was a winter because I looked good in Jewel-tones. But the personality is spot on and when I was your age I actually did rock a pin-up ceo aesthetic-so 40s all the way.
I’m not offering Zyla specific packages BUT if you want my opinion on your colour season head to bodyandstyle.com/services ♥️

Sunset summer is so me that I’m genuinely shocked to have found something THIS spot on!
Yay that is so cool!!
Me too.
I love learning and being the one in the group who's the "smart one" or "knows things."
I'm very attracted to Goth and Gothic styles, but I like hints of gentility or sweetness. Like, if Persephone (the Greek goddess of spring AND the underworld) had a closet full of corporate wear...that would be my dream wardrobe.
It's hard to pinpoint my exact style archetype since women who look like me are typically shoved into the autumn color season category. 🍂
I love the idea of Persephone’s wardrobe. You should make that. I want to see it now!!
That's pretty much me in a nutshell! But i would change the Beatnik autumn into the Passionate Leader.
I feel the same
Pretty sure you've been reading Lore Olympus! If not, you should!
@@Eniramoi Lore Olympus is not only beautifully drawn and written I'm in love with the fashion.
I was watching through the winter archetypes doubting that anything would land… thinking maybe I have winter coloring but not personality… then hit Playful Winter and was like 😮!!!! That is ME 🤸♀️
Thanks so much Ellie-Jean for opening this new fashion/expression door to explore!
I am a soft summer, but I could be a spring in Zyla!
none of zyla's types speaks to me, but his method of finding your own color palette helped me a lot to establish my style core
That's true, I think if you ignore the visuals and go with the descriptions more but totally understand...
thank you for this! i read zyla's book and was craving ANY visual indication of what the colors he was talking about were
I’ve never been more accurately described. Antique winter.
YYAASSS … style archetypes!
My newest rabbit hole.
Thanks Ellie-Jean ! I’ve always loved Zyla’s concept of finding one’s own colors in one’s own face and body coloring, and I find it very cool that you give us a good summary of the archetypes 😉 good job 👍 thanks ❤✨🙏🏼
Did the language of the archetypes bother you too? Calling the women creatures or eldritch beings was kinda … off putting and objectifying to me
@@sarahnelson8836 I did not mind the language, no… found it poetic and quite imaginative, in fact… I am not easily bothered or offended, in general. Sorry you felt offended… maybe it’s not for you… it was written some time ago…
@@nomadhawk2 that makes sense, I like the poetic parts and the general way it was described- just the women as less than people/ creatures parts got me a bit. I was curious to see if it was just me though since they are aesthetics sometimes those words make more sense - to me felt off this time though 🤷🏼♀️
@@sarahnelson8836 what you feel is totally valid. If it makes you feel like that, it’s ok, it’s valid. I didn’t notice, to be honest, because I did not take this personally, just more like a funny game of imagination… but I feel you, I feel what you may feel… if it goes to your core this way, I get why you can get offended… it’s understandable.
You've got me obsessed! Reading his book now AND waiting for yours!
Beatniks were the OG hipsters. :)
This is such a fun video! My colour season is soft autumn. I definitely think I’m a spicy autumn, it resonated the most with my personality
This was fantastically useful! I've never heard my style/personality described quite so perfectly as in the Mellow Autumn! Thank you!
Couldn't say it better 🙂
I'd also like to add that I'm aware that all of these systems are meant to take for personal interpretation. (I'm watching your lifestream in bits and it's very entertaining and interesting). That may work for other systems because they always leaver either body or personality open. (Your roots are personality meets style, while bodytypes are body meets style), so they allow us to match it with our missing element in the unique combination. However, this system has all areas covered in only 26 subtypes? (Edit: just checked and apparently it's even 24..) It feels difficult to interpret them without feeling like breaking them, because he has supposedly done all the matching for us.
You have a point🤔

I’ve recently been analysed by House of Colour as being a Blue Spring season and having Romantic Classic style, so the Vital Spring Prom Queen is spot on!
I’m a Dusky Summer with a dash of Mellow Autumn! I love adding this knowledge to all the style stuff I’ve collected!
This is a great presentation!
Nice work. A lush fashion feast. Tawny Spring, lol, i liked a bit of everything 😅
This! And for an easy pop culture reference to beatniks, think of Audrey Hepburn's character in Funny Face
Been waiting for this since your YT Short!! Time to feast 👀
I hope it’s delicious 😉
Great video - he says in the book he can tell which season you are by listening to your voice 🤯 worked for me 👀😂
I am a winter and I was disappointed that none of them really resonated until you posted the bonus extra one - I think I am a 'vivid winter'. Otherwise that 'Jeweltone summer' felt quite like me too. It's definitely different from the other systems!
Same! when she mentioned jewel tones in summer i said: what? that totally belongs to deep winters. So im in between those two and i love them haha
Ahhh! I get so excited for your videos, they are so much fun. Thank you thank you!
No thank YOU!! ♥️
I think I am a summer based on Kibbe and Zyla but nothing seems to represent me/ my style in the summer archetypes😕
Thanks for this overview. After watching the whole video, I'm no closer to seeing myself in any of these. But it's an interesting approach.
This was BEYOND helpful, Ellie-Jean! Thank you. ✨❤️👏🏻
Started reading the book after hearing you talk about it on TikTok and I found out I’m The Drama Queen 🥰 I’ve never felt so seen by a style type.
Thanks!😁
I do absolutely looovee when personality gets brought into it though. This is so neat
I really resonated with Classic Summer, Iridescent Summer, Flower Spring and Soft Spring the most
I think I am a soft summer, so the mysterious mermaid should work for me. But I really love dark jewel tones, too 🤔
Think of soft summer/mysterious mermaid as your base. You can still borrow from adjacent types and your opposite in winter.
I always thought that spring + autumn and summer + winter are the confusing pairs! Is winter and autumn similar in ways?
Love this! Have no clue what I am (something autumn or spring). I’d love a series that deep dive videos into these!! ❤
This is fun! Going off the Pinterest boards I think I'm the iridescent summer mixed with a bit of dusky summer. But my personality would fit closest to the soft winter description. My favourite clothes are the sunset summer ones but I wouldn't wear them personally.
This video is SO fun
I was thinking the Spring "pixie and maverick" sounded a bit more like me as a petite gamine-ish older woman. I can certainly find some style elements I like to embrace within each season. But, I had my colors many done years ago. The "Playful Winter" would best apply to me having medium contrast, but with a dramatic yet simple style. I look forward to learning more about Zyla. Thank you, Ellie Jean, for creating informative content for all ages.
Now I just need to figure out how to apply this knowledge
Side note but you would look stunning with a wispy bang! It would be in line with all your roots/aesthetic in my opinion too!
So because of you I actually bought his book. (It’s amazing btw) and I *think* I’m the elegant bohemian 🤩
I'm a mix of Ballerina Winter and Soft Winter. Can you actually be both or do I have to only pick one?
Thanks! What a good overview of a new topic to me. I love the idea of borrowing elements of other seasons. I think you might also be The Ballerina.
Im a classic light summer and i feel like early spring resonates with me the most.
But personality-wise I really resonated with dusky summer, and since in seasonal color analysis soft autumn can borrow from the soft summer color palette, im gonna say that I'm a mellow autumn blended with dusky summer 😆
🍂🥀🦋🍃🌻🐌
Oh I think this is me too!
you can just be a dusky summer. The palettes are a lot more varied then ellie here makes it seem and there is NO direct translation from sci/art or other systems. Plenty of dusky summers have colors ranging from sa, da, ssu, tsu, lsu and possibly DW.
I just love all of the autumn looks 😍 Pumpkin spice icons
The way sunset summer perfectly described me 👀
Altough actual colors vise i might be more irridescent summer? But personality and style vise its spot on.
Thank you for the video
Kitchener essences are also about personality. People always think it’s just physical but it really isn’t. It’s about personality, demeanour and how you feel comfortable also
But I do love that made a video on this and you put the effort to put the flowers to represent each.
i wish i found you sooner! we've got the same coloring besides eye color and the same style archytyle.
TIL my archetype is called the QUEEN and I can never me more honored WAHAHA
oooo which one looks best in loungewear, baggy sweatpants specifically? I feel so out of place with myself when i'm 'dressed up' but costumey- fun- unexpected yes!
I'd love a style video for men as best as you feel able to as I know experience is often key to a confident talking point. ❤
Idk if you’re familiar with enneagram where there are “wings” but that’s how I feel about style groups. I’m a 4w5 (so a 4 that shares a lot of characteristics with 5s)
When it comes to these I feel like a sunset summer with a bit of spicy autumn
It's seems Punk Winter is missing 😄😄😄 something between other winter Seasons plus a little bit of summer Queens 😄
I found punk in your own system : moon-mountain-stone ♥️ it works for me. Thank you !
Maybe try Playful Winter? Just a thought…
I am an autumn but I resonated most with sunset summer or elegant bohemian.
I'm dark autumn, but I resonate with soft winter romantic poetess. How's that possible!?
I always thought I was a winter because I looked good in Jewel-tones. But the personality is spot on and when I was your age I actually did rock a pin-up ceo aesthetic-so 40s all the way.
Amazing astute breakdown! 🏆👏🙏
