You have to know what you’re listening for. When you know the score by heart Madeline Kahn’s velvety richness spills over the stage into the entire venue - and it’s love. ❤️🔥
I'm a little confused. Was this a demo recording or unauthorized recording somebody did, or why is it so hard to hear at the start? It's as if somebody recorded her at a rehearsal or something, and if that's what it is, that's fine, but without any context in the description it's very confusing.
It's a live recording -- taken by someone in the audience, apparently -- of a concert version of the show that played at Town Hall in New York City in '77. What a cast!
Ms. Kahn has a wonderful soprano, most possibly with the operatic background, with silvery tone and a ring on top, soaring all the way, but like the majority of current sopranos, her lower notes are not as profound, and when she talks, you can hear it too - the lower speech is quieter. Coupled with the quality of recording and piano closer to the audience, there is imbalance.
Beautiful, possibly the best version of the song I’ve heard
Stellar!! 🤩

Wow. This is awesome. Any more clips from this production?
You could hear it? Asking because I can't make head or tails of what I'm listening to, which is definitely not my definition of awesome.
