- A live performance of Vanilla Ice Cream from the enchanting musical She Loves Me, performed by the amazing and dearly missed Madeline Kahn.
The recording quality is poor (1977) but the essence of her performance shines through.
I was at this concert, and Medeline's performance still stands as one of the most hilarious things I have ever seen. I remember that she was wearing high heels and one of the heels broke, and she went limping all over the stage, using the high-heel side for high notes and her broken heel side for low notes. She had the audience hysterical!
OMG!!!!! There just has to be a pirated video of this somewhere!!!! PLEASE!!!! Somebody has just got to have this!!!! Kahn is incredible!!! LOVE HER!!!
Fantastic - don't you wish you could see what she was doing to make the audience laugh so much.
I was there at this concert! It was one of the most amazing evenings I've ever spent. Not just the brilliant Madelyn Kahn, Barry Bostwick and Rita Moreno, but George Rose and Lawrence Guittard,
randy brenner holy shit, you lucky duck!!!!! I was born in 1999, and I wish someone had filmed that production with that level of talent....
it's just criminal the fact that there's no footage of this
Speaking and not singing the very beginning was an unusual but surprisingly great choice.
How great is it that she found the humor in this character? Of course the Barbara Cook version is so classic but when all is said and done this is a song that's meant to be as funny as it is beautiful. She really nailed it on both counts.
I was there! Had never heard of the show. My mother had a spare ticket. Walked in and it hit me in the face.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you
Is there no video of her doing this song? With her, so much of what made her so funny was her facial expressions. I can year from the audience's reaction that she's doing some hilarious stuff on that stage. It kills me that I can't see it!
LarrySeesAsia yeah, wish I had a time machine to go back in time and see it!
Oh... my.... gosh... That was absolutely stunning no matter the quality. What a lovely gem! Thanks for uploading! c:
Comic genius! She was the Grace Kelly of Mel Brooks films!
brilliant brilliant brilliant!!!!
GREAT posting - WOW!
thank you so much
Just lovely.
I’M SCREAMING
wonderful! Too bad we can't see what she's doing onstage.
She did it for laughs and was very good because she didnt want to imitate Barbara Cook who was perfect in this role and song.Cook sang the high B and this is the note Madeline sang not a high C. ,
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
