her hair is so pretty in this movie, even by today's fashion
yes its pretty n the clothes she wears too
I think sleeping beauty got that hairstyle from her :d
She's very pretty!
even though it's a wig, it was wonderful
@@bruno.prieto nearly ALL hairdos for female characters are wigs in nearly every movie. Even when they're close to the person's actual hair. It baffled my mind realizing this fact.
One of the most beautiful songs
One of the most beautiful dresses
One of the most beautiful voices
One of the most beautiful women
One of the most beautiful souls
Of all time.
I’d say the dress is pretty hideous, but other than that spot on.
This is just heavenly!!!!!Only to sit in the movie theaters in 1944, world's away from Hitler, the war, and hear this over the loud speakers must of been like floating on clouds towards heaven. God Bless Judy Garland!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful description!
How about a Judy Garland filmfest at your local Landmark theater! 10/2019
I saw it in the theater at 16. Wasn't around in the 40s but still in the 90s this was pretty freakin beautiful
the violins in this song are simply heavenly
Her presence seems to float off from the screen and right into your heart.
Jay Taylor 💞
She had an inborn talent for acting.
I agree with you!
I listen to this song whenever I have a serious crush. Judy Garland always knew how to tap into your inner most emotions and thoughts. I always loved her acting abilities and singing voice. Judy Garland was the ultimate and literal girl next door. With a face of a beauty queen and the voice of an angel.
Rest In Peace, Judy Garland.
💛💜💛💜
My God, she has such a presence here! Hard to believe this segment is almost eighty years old; not because anything made today could even come close to it, but because it seems just utterly timeless.
Frank Sinatra one said: "All of us will be one day forgotten, but not Judy! He was right!
Frank was being modest about himself. He was just as much of a singing legend as Judy.
@Tim Dewano But he knew that she was further more talented as him!
@@Darrigrande dont compare a ruby with a diamond. Be grateful we have them both.
@Tim Dewano you must not know Sinatra's career very well. Hes considered most influential singer of the 20th century
@@johnlorenzen4633 so is Judy Garland
Her voice was too beautiful. Words can't explain. Plus she was gorgeous ☺️☺️☺️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌺🌺🌺🌺
Judy Garland is indeed one of the greatest and most Sublimely beautiful actresses of all time.
The studio called her their Ugly Duckling...it was so wrong the way they treated her.she was just a commodity !
55 years ago today the world lost Judy Garland😰💔
Rest In Peace Judy Garland🕊
This exists; it is how the world is ordered. Just beautiful...❤..
This song reminds me of my crush on the boy next door, living 7 houses away from mine back when I was 14. I would've cried while listening to this back then, but now I can't help but smile...😊❤
She's so beautiful! Hair goals
Judy garland was Way too Magnificent, breathtaking, ethereal beautiful and Exquisite and drop dead gorgeous and divine beyond all reasons and words.
The very BEST ever original TechniColor version! Merci beaucoup from Paris France., 8th july 2021
Beautiful Song!
That scene there at the end with the curtain draped over her face is a beautiful work of art ..... and that is basically what Judy Garland was as well ... a MASTERPIECE! 💝
Beautiful woman, beautiful singer, beautiful once-in-a-lifetime TALENT! There will never be another like her!
Thank you for mentioning that moment with the curtain. It's as if she just drew lovely things to herself without even trying.
@@jaytaylor7740 You're welcome!
Yes, she was truly one of a kind! So tragic what the industry did to her at such a young age, it's heartbreaking! Her shining light burned out long before it should have!
Judy is the most gorgeous woman that I ever laid eyes on. Judy is beyond gorgeous!! Judy have such a remarkable voice. Her voice just calms me down R.I.P Judy. The most beautiful woman to be ever put on earth around the 30s and 40s. Back in these days were so magical, calmful, peaceful, relaxing and romantic. Men knew how to love women back in these days.
Can I just say how beautiful Judy Garland is in this movie? Her voice is unmatched.. MGM’s Greatest Star
She was such a beauty and a voice to match. She suffered so much from her youth. RIP
Judy is the best. Words cant express her beauty
Love this song. Judy Garland had an excellent voice.💞
Such a timeless voice.... true classic!
Her voice is so beautiful❤️❤️🎼🎼
Happy 100th birthday, Judy. Never forgotten.
Timeless , Authentic, Beautiful
54 years without Judy Garland❤️
R.I.P Judy Garland❤️❤️
June 10th 1922 - June 22nd 1969
Pure Class!! Class isn't something you wear or things you own.
You are born with it, A gift from GOD!! Pure Refinement!! This is What Judy Garland/ Edith Gumpp possessed!!!
We LOVE YOU MS. GARLAND, REST IN PEACE.
From a film with great songs that would become classics, The Boy Next Door is my personal favorite. I even like it more than The Trolley Song which was my mother's favorite. The way Judy sings and performs this touching and relatable song is really quite special.
Judy body movement is insanely incredible, she walks just like a floating cloud.
Another tribute to the mesmerising charms of Judy. She was made for Technicolour. A ravishing reminder of glorious days. God bless her !
I just love this song; she’s really amazing. And I love the way she admires herself in the mirror and twirls around. I do that every now and then
What a voice
Beautiful!!! JUDY GARLND!
Literally one of the best executed scenes Acting wise in cinema history to sit at the window and pretend to look at the boy next door So effortlessly I look to video for inspiration too much 🖤🖤 love you Judy
There is a guy on UA-cam called the Tired Old Queen at the Movies or Steve Hayes, who does movie reviews from the 30s, 40s, 50s, and onward. He described this scene as if Vincente Minelli, the director, and the future husband of Judy Garland, and the father of Liza Minelli, made the window as a portrait of Judy. I like her long auburn or almost a ginger wig that really makes her so beautiful. This movie and "The Star is Born" (1954) really showed off Judy's talent as a singer and as an actress when she became an adult. There are so many songs in this movie that are so memorable and loved by so many people. Besides Judy Garland, Margaret O'Brien as the young Tootie stole this movie with her incredibly funny acting. Margaret even received an Academy Award as a juvenile actress for this movie. I also like Margery Maim as their housekeeper and cook because she had so many funny lines. She was fantastic in the movie called "The Women" (1939) with Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer. MGM, as well as Warner Brothers, made the best classic movies with so many great actors and actresses that anyone can enjoy many times over.
Meet Me In St. Louis is the best even pattern for story. I love the seasonal transitions.
It’s so perfect. Closest thing to heaven I can feel.
My favorite actress. ❤
Love this . Love the movie 🍿❤️
Man, Judy Garland was gorgeous!!!
Vincente Minnelli may have been a little peculiar in his own way, but what he did for Judy, and, ultimately the film, is stunning. The colors, the set design and Judy's makeup and wardrobe are absolutely beautiful--as is the gorgeous woman singing in this scene.
Happy 101th birthday Judy Garland❤️🎉
Just watched this film on the big screen this afternoon. The final shot of her framed in the window with the curtain falling across her face literally brought tears to my eyes. She was just SO beautiful.
I've had the same reaction to the shot - and I've never had the joy of seeing it on a big screen. The whole film is incredibly beautiful, and Judy felt that Minnelli was the first director to make her feel and look beautiful on screen. The other sublimely shot scene I love of her is the "Over the Banister" scene. Transcendent...
MGM makes awesome films but they treated her monstrously
Hope they are spiked well in hell for tthat
Thanks for the newsflash. No one ever heard that before.
Her outfit and this song look similar to how she looked and sounded singing Over the Rainbow in the Wizard of Oz
Man, she puts all kind of English on that "can't" at the end. Esther doesn't really know what love is yet, but she sure as hell wants to. She's in love with the idea of being in love. That's what a crush is like, and don't I know it. There were no girls next door, but there were girls sitting near me in class. Works about the same way, and that's just how it feels. While most of us have felt this, we don't mainly get orchestrations by Conrad Salinger. Anytime you watch this movie, or quite a few other MGM musical classics, remember his contribution. Judy Garland never forgot it.
Great post! And great description of her putting English on that last "can't." If she hadn't already captivated me, she would have with the way she caressed that word. Also agree with you about Conrad Salinger. His contributions were invaluable.
I love the music in this movie especially since I am from there. My father did too and he lived in the neighborhood where the movie was filmed and we have a big picture of the 1904 world fair.
That is so cool
5135 Kensington Ave was a dilapidated house in the mid 1990s. 5133 was in better shape. The two lots are 1 1/2 blocks west of Kingshighway which in 1904 was known as Kaiser Wilhelm Blvd. The name was changed to Kingshighway during WW1 for obvious reasons.
@@dovbarleib3256 I was born and raised in STL and did not know that.
I read the address 5135 Kensington Ave was actually the author's of Meet Me In St Louis" when she was growing up.
@@finalvoyage35And when Sally Benson was a child, they called her “Tootie”.
Omg she’s absolutely bueatiful…….wow…..her face is so innocent and angelic like. Everything about this is purrrrfection 🥺
before dating in social media, swipe right swipe left, this existed
I did this one for college music theater auditions and landed one in DC with almost full pay for private on the government. Love Judy!
With all respect to Da Vinci, not even he could have done justice to such beauty!
My Grandma used to watch this movie ❤
Those flawless vocals
This classic MGM movie Meet Me in St. Louis was actually filmed in 1943 and released in 1944. The legendary, adorable, very pretty, very intelligent and extremely talented Judy Garland first recorded this beautiful and classic song in 1943! This original song was written and composed in 1943 for this classic movie!
The quality made me think it's a 90's movie instead of a 1944 movie
I know I’m so happy that the quality makes the film so easy to watch
Girl I’m in love with her such a big fan she’s such a elegant lady
Original TechniColor version version, right neat soundtrack ever ! Merci beaucoup from Paris France.
I can’t believe people don’t sing like this anymore😞😞😞😔😔😔 Judy is my 1900 idol she’s inspired me to sing like the 1900’s 🙂 I miss Judy Garland 😟😟😟
Omg im not the only one
The 1900s 😂
I "WONDER!" if SHE ever knew just how BRILLIANTLY POWERFUL SHE AND HER GIFT WAS! SHE was far more capable of things! 😀 My GIRL! SINCE I WAS 8 YRS OLD OR SO....52 YRS AGO. RIP MY GIRL! 😌!
Beautiful !
Ahhh this song is beautiful and totally captures the bittersweet ecstacy of first love or serious crush - Judy is just sublime here. My mother always loved her and that rubbed off on me as well
The moment I saw him smile
I knew he was just my style
My only regret is we've never met
Though I dream of him all the while
But he doesn't know I exist
No matter how I may persist
So it's clear to see there's no hope for me
Though I live at fifty-one-thirty-five Kensington Avenue
And he lives at fifty-one-thirty-three
How can I ignore the boy next door
I love him more than I can say
Doesn't try to please me
Doesn't even tease me
And he never sees me glance his way
And though I'm heart-sore, the boy next door
Affection for me won't display
I just adore him
So I can't ignore him
The boy next door
I just adore him
So I can't ignore him
The boy next door
Rulo Quartz Liza made that statement on TCM During an interview about her amazing mother with The late Robert Osborne. 😊❤️🌈
Those dresses are so pretty 😭
Happy 100th birthday Judy Garland🎉
Her voice!
¡Ella es muy bella !
I had to watch this a few times before I noticed something strange: In the verse and beginning of the refrain, Garland doesn't blink at all!
Judy Garland é minha atriz favorita ❤️
She’s such a Gem😍
In November 2021 I found out exactly what it was like to be in love, if I had held on to this song at the time, it would have fallen almost perfectly with my feelings. A few days later I saw the movie on a rainy morning, it was emotionally perfect.
she is 22 here so beautiful
Judy Garland is without a doubt the immensely prettiest, loveliest, fairest, finest, grandest, sexiest, classiest, hottest and utmost ridiculously beautiful, dead drop gorgeous alluring, exquisite, exceptional, stunning, radiant, angelic, sublime, glamorous, pure, desirable, ethereal, elegant, divine, heavenly, special, gifted, marvelous, talented, flawless and amazing and breathtaking human being in the whole galaxy.
Heaven sent phenomenal singing!!!
By listening to this song I feel like I am at the past ;-;
I write a letter for Judy Garland every day.
Love this movie❤
I would love to make music like this but I feel like no one would listen, it’s extremely underrated!
Judy never looked better than she did in this 1944 movie. There was a reason why the producers had Judy seated at the windowsill when she sang. It was to give her a picture frame affect.
Merveilleuse Judy Garland si ravissante si touchante😍😍😘
My God, she was so beautiful and talented. Sigh.
Lucille Bremer was beautiful too. She had an extraordinary gaze.
Beauty with sincerity.
amAZINGGGGGG
She looks like a more mature version of Dorothy in that outfit
Ugh same Judy ❤️😭
5135 Kensington Ave, St. Louis,MO was real and the story authors address. Sadly torn down 1994.
i’m here after watching the live of andrew rannells singing this music..
Why does someone this beautiful have to rot, nature is fucking cruel
Judy Garland is proof that God does indeed gift mankind
Can relate to Judy Garland's character in this film. Hoping to meet a handsome young man myself.
Miss women like this
It reminds me when my boyfriend is coming over to see me :)
Love Judy G on this song and Im a big fan since age 7 but first record I was 11 years old and joined her Fan Club in 1975 and was in it till 1998 or 1999.I think its too costly now and Im on Medcaid but if would rejoin the Fan Club if I came into money ! I think its atleast 38 dollars or more per year ! Dont have the money but wish I could rejoin the club ! Love her songs movies and she was a funny lady who loved to laugh and have fun !
i am so looking forward to reading these comments....
Wow.
:0 a Disney princess :D!!!
It worked also because the actor playing her love interest really was cute AF
A wonder why composers writing such beautiful music, Ralph Blane & Hugh Martin, this movie I think was the only one they did.
Eu só queria saber prq pessoa tão talentosas tem uma vida tão terrível 🥺. E um fim tão trágico?
Why are you guys even arguing they were both talented. Just because you don't like one of the singers does not mean they were worth less. Judy Garland was a legend, but so was Frank so don't be mean. Btw, they are both dead (may they rest in peace) so it doesn't really matter if you like Frank Sinatra or not. So stop arguing about something pointless that you will forget about tomorrow. Just enjoy the fact that they both were amazing singers and actors.
