it's not the speed that causes g forces its the maneuvers performed. flying at Mach 10 in a straight line will not impart more force than just standing still. however if you were to suddenly turn 90 degrees at Mach 10 it would be like being smashed into the wall at Mach 10.
It's emergency protection. You can afford to have liberties for the people in the back to have time to find an oxygen mask if there is a leak. You can afford the people in the back to have the blood pool in their legs a bit too much and get light headed or faint. However if the oxygen starts leaking the pilots need to start emergency landing communications. Which means they need both oxygen to do so, and a mic inside that oxygen provider. It would be excessively foolhardy to have them fly at those altitudes without full gear.

it's not the speed that causes g forces its the maneuvers performed. flying at Mach 10 in a straight line will not impart more force than just standing still. however if you were to suddenly turn 90 degrees at Mach 10 it would be like being smashed into the wall at Mach 10.

It's emergency protection. You can afford to have liberties for the people in the back to have time to find an oxygen mask if there is a leak. You can afford the people in the back to have the blood pool in their legs a bit too much and get light headed or faint.
However if the oxygen starts leaking the pilots need to start emergency landing communications. Which means they need both oxygen to do so, and a mic inside that oxygen provider.
It would be excessively foolhardy to have them fly at those altitudes without full gear.
