Love the tip about using fibreglass filler. Cheers bud. Torri is coming along awesome bro
I’m curious if that’s anything different than ‘fiberfil’ aka kittyhair which is glass fiber filled bondo. Which is all polyester aka fiberglass resin-based filler.
It’s fine either way but if it’s something new or better (or epoxy?) that would be fun to know about.
Thanks for the great idea regarding fibre glass over hypoxy primer
Love the project and the rest of the show you do for us all 🤙
Thank you for all the videos this year. I know it is a lot of work - especially when you are working full time. Hopefully you and your family had a great Christmas and hopefully 2023 is good to you.
Agreed.
At 6:30…. I agree , nothing wrong with adhesive !! .. they are using it to glue panels out of the factory on new cars … a 3 mil
.. layer of everglass over the hole , is fine 🖖
Merry Christmas Gunny. Looks like you'll have that beast in paint before winter. Nice work!
Great with the text-comments on what you´re using.
Merry Christmas! Gunny thx for all the videos this year healthy distraction from destruction..looking forward to the new year and vids to come! Out there painting some shit! Across the pond! 😉😉
Merry Christmas from the US
Hey Gunny, thanks for posting another great video, your car is progressing steadily, good job !
hi where is your shop i need a spray job on my ute dorr and roof and bonet
Hey buddy.. Seen you using wire wheel to remove the paint.. They work ok.. but don't forget about the old rippa strippa discs.. Abit more on the $$$ side but less heat transfer etc.. But keep on keeping on .
Hey man, I remember you, you're the guy who got my old Skull GTi pro aren't you?
@@TheGunmanChannel yeah buddy. That's me.. the FLG 5. Works a treat for primer. I switched careers and am an apprentice carpenter ATM. I still paint just at home. Got a blow up booth setup..
Lovin the build, Gunny. Keep the vids coming...
Hey gunny , your friend paul from delta bc Canada 🇨🇦…. Haven’t seen a new vid in a bit , keep ‘em coming !!! You have been an innovator with these lessons …. I know enough from pros and my experience , to know u are the real deal !!!
Hope you had a great Xmas gunman 👍
looking forward to more good stuff next year
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR GUNNY & YOUR FAMILY TO ...
G'day Gunman.
Wow hasn't the Torana come along nicely . And in 6 months. I'm just at the start of my restoration . A 67 split window kombi.
Anyway Merry Christmas to you and your wife. I hope you had a great day .
Peace ✌️ from Melbourne 3810.
I’ve heard that epoxy sticks better to 180 grit. Have you ever had issues? What degreaser or metal prep was used. Thank you for sharing.
Know what epoxy paints good for gunny.. filling pin holes. I use 2 pack boat epoxy in a shot size mix cup with a toothpick to do my pinhole filling. I get a blob on the toothpick end then barely touch it to the pinhole so it sucks In, then I wipe the thing flat and take the excess off with the side of the toothpick. It's my method for any pinhole fix. It doesn't react with 1k uses you leave excessive amounts in and it doesn't grip and pull out when sanded. Was using tube sh1te for a good 2 decade now I'm on the boat epoxy as a filler. I even add some colidal silica to bigger holes and the epoxy in the paint loves it it hardens up beautifully.
Merry Christmas man! Thanks for the videos dude!!
Hey, what are you using to scrip paint to bare metal and what grit sandpaper?
Hey gunny merry Christmas to you also looking forward to your new videos and the car seems to be coming along great see you in 2023 cheers man
Great Work Merry Christmas GunMan
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU WITH GOOD HEALTH STRENGTH LONG LIFE HAVE A AWESOME CHRISTMAS DAY FROM Trinidad and Tobago 🎄🇹🇹💗.
we have shied away from UPOL fillers because of adhesion issues over time
Thanks for the Torana updates loven it. Quick question. Getting a gun for primer, base, clear. Should I get the devilbiss GPG with 1.8 and 1.4 tips or Buy the devilbiss FLG as a primer gun and get the GPG 1.4 as dedicated base and clear. Got a few home resto going. Thanks gunny.
Hey gunman thanks for your channel its tops.
Thoughts on removing corrosion from aluminium bonnet then repainting it.
Hi Gunny, thanks for doing us a nice Christmas video it's Boxing Day here now so relaxing watching some vids👍the Torana is progressing well mate and that door was surprisingly rust free considering it's age, you are doing a fantastic job mate so keep it up and I look forward to the next one.
I hope you and you family have a great Christmas and New Year🎅🏼🥳John UK.
Glazing putty?
Merry Christmas to you Gunny! Take care and keep up the great videos!
Merry Christmas buddy take care
Love the vids & Australian slang: skim off :)
Hey gunny? How are you going to fill in the #16 grit scratches on the bare metal?
I went 16-36 then 80 on the orbital. Then epoxy primer
Thanks for the answer gunny. I always had sandscratch swelling after it was painted after 90 days. Curetime. Had to reprime and glaze the whole panel when it came back. Thanks for you're time bud.
You're an awsome painter
love it. freaking awesome
Hey gunny loven the Tory resto budy, quick question those grey gloves you use what are they called, all the glove I find arnt solvent resistant and keep melting my glove, if you could recommend a great glove that would be awesome, I just started using those 3m cubitron 2 papers aswell and I tell ya I will never use another cheep ass paper again once my rubbish ones are gone those things are great and last for ever, Sydney tools has them cheap atm so I grabbed a bunch
They're the best gloves, I reuse them many times. They're from UK so postage won't be cheap, maybe make it worthwhile if you get a few other things at the same time.
spraygunsdirect.co.uk/product/colad-disposable-nitrile-gloves/
Thanks gunny I'll have a look, I did get some colad blades from there about a year ago due to cutting into the paint while masking and taping
From one custom paint sprayer to another, I love your work, but why not get that door straight before you epoxy prime it?
I don't mind a bit of filler, and I don't have dent pullers, and I don't want to make too much noise and annoy neighbours.
Yo Gunny, great relatable content mate. Got a rusty Tonner meself. With very average skills. Can weld/fill and paint kinda.
Just do it ,eh....
Don't your gloves melt from the thinners? Is there a good type to get?
Mine are the thicker grey nitrile ones, Colad brand, I got them from Sprayguns Direct.
Hay gunny r u washing your bare metal until ur rag is coming up clean before you epoxy?
Of coarse
I have a rear passenger rust free original paint mate if you can find me a same condition pass front door id be willing to do a swapsie.
Thanks anyway but I'm at the point where I have just about all the panels I need
Gunny i guess you would have heard the old saying epoxy before body filler?
👋😁🎄🥳🎅🥰👏Happy New Year ^.^
Instead of using fiberglass, why not tin and lead the panels like the OG's do when restoring older cars?
Because it's heavy, toxic and I see no advantage to using it
Top shit gunny.love ya vids man.keep it up.my missus would go bat shit if I spent that much time in my shed on my xa.
I'm curious how it came to be that this particular car was chosen for the video
watch the earlier videos pretty sure its his and was on a farm in the first few eps.
I've owned this car for nearly 20 years, it's just my car.
watch youtube videos metal workers in North America can make those panels. I personally use 22 gage galvanized on good jobs which will outlast you and your kids
I'm surprised & confused that all you did to metal before painting was wipe the metal with a microfiber cloth. Here is a video showing the metal being wiped down with grease remover numerous times. Wipe down starts at 2:00 minute ua-cam.com/video/GiWoKl0NLh4/v-deo.html
Knock the top off that gorilla asap or it becomes almost unsandable
You mean the Fibreglass filler? I found that out 😃
