As dedicated Pompano fishermen/women the wife and I were thrilled to see this video. Lesson learned: Just because you have active bait in the water and pompano swimming by doesn't mean you're going to get a bite. Your rig is very clever...well done.
That creature you asked about is a Ragged Sea Hare. It is a shell less mollusk not a nudibranch, also not a regular sea hare. Bursatella leachii is the latin name.
Or slug …or biden
@@andrewthomas405 Biden sounds about right 🤣
Thank you for the answer and info about it.
This is one of the best offshore underwater videos I've seen! It's so clear! Please Post More!!
I plan on it, really amazed me too, the fish make the video!
@@FishGum bro how to tie this rig pls give me the link
@@FishGum didn't think you were going to reply lol
Man I could watch these underwater videos all day!!!
The sand volcano is typical of a mantis shrimp burrowing a hole. I watched this growing up in Hawaii. Their many legs can produce the volume of sand that is thrown up as they dig a home or clean out their burrow. Then again I've also seen this type of activity from underground springs but it's usually a constant stream then a short burst. Nice vid.
Absolutely, amazing footage. If you can do a few more, I would gladly appreciate it. Make me wish I had a camera on my line. Please don't stop
This underwater footage really does answer the life long question, how in the world do fish take your bait all the time without being hooked. Literally the bait was in the pompano and permits mouth and then they spit out the bait and the hook. I am sure a lot of the time the hook is spit out without the bait on it. Just amazing footage that answers questions from us anglers. Please continue to post more of these underwater videos.
I'm blaming the curve in the hook. It's too curved IMO. I've had contests fishing for things that lived in the kelp beds and the simple Eagle Claw hooks outperformed the curved hooks ten to one. If I felt the bite nine out of ten times it was followed by a hookup. If it made it into a fish mouth it wasn't coming out until I took it out. On the California coast before the kelp collapse ruined everything. I hate sea urchins.
You should watch the underwater videos of mangrove snappers stealing bait off the hooks....they are professionals.
@@darrellcook8253 yes. J hooks do work better on some fish. I found the super light Tru turn round bend hooks work better on the rapid biting fish.
At 6:39 it might be a Hairy Sea Hare a type of sea slug. Love the UW video. Wish I had a camera like it last week when something picked up the green FishGum I was using and took off. Almost spooled me. Broke off at the hook with 30# mono.
Green FG is money!
It’s a nudibranch
Jesus!! That was rad.... I'm a fly fisherman. In CO. I have 3 permit under my belt. One gran slam in 🇨🇺
GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
So glad you finally got this video up. With all the social media teasers I was looking forward to seeing it. Great footage. Thank you!
Cool stuff! The creature look like a sea slug to me....great footage on the fish, amazing the Blues as many as there were not one took the bait. Thanks for sharing
Type of sea slug agreed
I love these type of videos, the underwater stuff that shows fish behavior.
Sometimes called a rabbit hare. Been in the saltwater aquarium hobby for over 30 years. Fun harmless animals. Clean up crew to eat debris
To be more specific I believe that is a small ragged sea hair
Looked like some kind of camo nudibranch
Hare bursatella
@@mgeller854 pretty sure they are. I've found 2 of them on the beach as well as another species of nudibranch
This guy is a true youtube pioneer. 👏
I wish I could apply what I learned from your fish cam. Being disabled now, I can't get to the surf to well anymore, and I have to live, vicariously, through all you other fisherpersons. I wish you well and I have subscribed and look forward to more content like this.
Not the same as being on the sand, but you can still fish the surf from a pier. I'm not sure about all piers, but most are handicapped accessible. I know at our pier (Surf City Pier in Surf City, NC) we go out of our way to help get you out on the planks and wetting a line!
Your videos are amazing, congratulations you are a great fisherman!👍🎣😊
Your pompano catch was fantastic
Hug!!!
Brilliant. I’ve always wondered what was going on down there. I’ve also stopped using floats because it looks like they get hit as much as the bait, but I’m definitely going to try your solution. Thanks for the great video.
I'm going to modify a pomp rig with extra hooks in the float n see how that works
Love the new cam, great job Tony! Looking forward to seeing more.
That is a great perspective. The addition of the little float makes all the difference. Great water clarity helps too. That unknown creature seems to me to be some sort of nudibranch.
Very cool to see! What a great tool to help fine tune how to catch more fish. Looking forward to seeing more!
Brilliant! ...always wanted to see that moment and the behaviour of fishes with the bait👍👍👍
Really cool what you’re doing! The camera is a super benefit to understanding how fish really interact with baits.
This is really really cool. Love to watch more footage!! 🤙🏼
Unique and significant footage .
We want to see more.
It’s coming
Outstanding footage. From a fisherman and award winning video editor.
Man wow thanks!
Great video you earn my subscription. Never seen anything like this.
That was AMAZING! A big thank you for the video, from a viewer in Brazil!
Great video and a very underrated channel here. i see so much potential with the new camera rig. i’ve never seen anything like that before except in video games! this is a whole new level of fishing.
Thank you for your encouraging words. It took about 3 years to get the angles right. I have lost 5 of those cameras, but this video made it worth it. I will try to upload one a month.
Absolutely awesome-footage like this helps to understand how fish brain works -post more videos!
Amazing incredible one of the best informational surf videos I have seen!
Excellent video! Keep ‘em coming! Thank you
An old timer that I fished with frequently after my dad passed away, told me that when Fish go to test a bait.. they will take a quick nibble at it first…and if they don’t like the feel.. they move on. He was a firm believer in homemade floats from flip-flops that were soft, versus some of the Styrofoam models that are out there now. I wasn’t going to question his knowledge, and we had pretty good luck with soft floats. I also experimented with
soft float-hooks.
Love to see what's happening under water. Now to that float hook video!
Great video! Good way to learn and adjust fishing skills! Thank you!
Nice insight into some of the feeding behavior of fish! Thanks for sharing the video!
GREAT video! The amount of information and knowledge that can be gained from these videos is incredible. Wow!
Great video!! Excellent information!! Thank you!
I do a lot of surf fishing and this video is amazing. Very interesting that the pomps and permit wanted the floats.
This video is absolutely amazing. We can all learn from this great video.
Please make more I'm hooked 😁😁😁
this is so cool to watch!! super clear! please do more videos like this!
Great video, a lot of important content on how fish hit your bait! Thanks 👍
Very revealing footage. Thank you very much! Could you do some other rigs, too? That would be great.
I enjoyed this video. I rarely get to fish saltwater because I’m in the Midwest. This was very entertaining and educational
cool vids so amazing seeing how the fish act around the bait!!!
Go fish cam and salty pompano should absolutely be sponsoring you sir, this is awesome! I have never fished in such beautiful waters, except 1 time on a "deep sea fishing charter boat" years ago, catching red snapper. I've always fished the white river for catfish and white perch. Very few sturgeon below an old (1911 or so built hydropower dam) called Williams dam in Williams Indiana. It's so rich with insanely huge catfish and lord only knows what else... this is everything I've ever wanted, to see what actually happens once your lines in the water. 💯.
I am glad you enjoyed it
That was amazing!!!
Please try a clear float. It will keep the bait afloat without distraction from the bait
Can you tell me where to find a clear float?
@@FishGum i guess not
Man that works great! Awesome footage!
Great! Very interesting. Thanks for going to the trouble. It’s interesting to see how easily fish blow out a baited hook. I like the idea of putting the float on the hook, maybe a longer shanked hook? 🤓🎣🇦🇺
Great narration. Entertaining and exciting! Thank you! I loved it!
Loved the video, awesome footage! First fish you called a the Atlantic Bumper was a school of leatherjacket or leatherback, Oligoplites saurus.
Brilliant footage thanks. I saw a product when I was in the UK fishing called Strike Magic, kind of a scent you put on the bait and it trails back (it was designed for flyfishing). Something similar might help lead the fish directly to the bait and not the float. Keep the footage coming.
Love it. Totally up for it with the cam and what you just contented for us. But dam Joe Rogan. More please
Fantastic footage thank you
I need more of these videos!
you should paint the camera white to blend in with the sand
I loved it, seeing how they fed
Great footage! Awesome
Mind blowing stuff. Just checked online and the price for that camera isn't bad and especially you get to keep memories about your catch. And you know they are going to get smaller and maybe even real time video on your glasses. Amazing video. Thanks for sharing.
RE floats, you could use some pop up beads (common in UK surf fishing) on the hooklength itself to get them closer to the hook. Might give you an interesting action too and would definitely lead to less potentially spooky hardware all tightly together across the rig. Amazing video! Tight lines
Great footage 👏 👍 giving you and us the opportunity to become a better fisherman
That Was FRICKIN AWESOME!!!!!
Fascinating. Thanks for sharing this.
Dang those fish are smarttt. Please more of this... Subscribed and liked.
You just got yourself a new follower. Well done.
The way they eat is exactly like what fishes I used to keep in an aquarium. Take a bite, spit it out, repeat a few times. Until they finally decided to chomp down on it.
Bro this is an awesome video! Thank you for the info
Very nice video! That creature might be a sea slug. I think the pomps go after the floats bc they think its a sand flea. They might be biting it to determine if its real and if they really want to take it as though they were kind of sampling it by tasting it. I think if you create fish gum bait that floats in the shape of a sand flea it might do well.
Very good. Great commentary, explanations, etc. I want to go fishing .
Tony- amazing video & instruction- greatly appreciated your creativity & teaching God’s Speed+
Bluefish not taking a bait is unheard of
Thanks for sharing, loved the content. I strive to do underwater observation with my GoFish Cam as well, first and foremost to try and observe and learn and hopefully become better fishermen, and also because live hook-ups with the cam running are just awesome! There were many interesting aspects to this footage and I, personally, was rather surprised at the ability they had to avoid getting hooked, after having the hook fully in their mouths. Awesome footage, thanks again for taking the time and effort to do this. I've lost what could have been some awesome underwater footage because it happened after the 90-100 minute mark and the camera battery was done. Win some, lose some!
That was really great and interesting and I don’t shore fish. Great commentary I learn quite a lot about fishing from you.
Awesome footage!
i need to make those floaters, ty for info, gonna be real helpfull to me here in sweden!
Stumbled across your channel watching dog videos....I'm HOOKED!!..🤣🤣🤣... PLEASE MAKE MORE!!!!
I was using 3 inch brigh orange cigar bobbers to keep my sabiki rig suspended under water on the pier and noticed that something was actually sinking its teeth on the bobber so I added some treble hooks on the bobber to see what would happen and a shark about 4 feet long got hooked but I didn't have the right set up so it bit the line off. Next time I'm going to tie the treble hooks that are attached to the bobber with black coated 80lb steel wire line. The big fish seem to be attracted by the color and shape, I looked at the bobber and I started to think like a fish and the bobber actually looks like if I was staring at a fish from its behind so I'm guessing that the shark thinks its sneaking up on the fish from behind no matter what side because the shark only sees the rear and never the bobber/lure's eyes. This happened about 4 times before i actually hooked the shark that cut my line.
Bro out some meat in the bobber
@@BlackMamba-lt8oe i will this weekend 👍
Great video, so cool to see a surf bite cam. If you ever get a chance make a video without the floats. Would love to see the difference, of how far off the bottom they sit..
I could watch that camera footage for hours.
amaaaaaaaaazing video ! Thank you so much !!!
loved the footage
Thumbs up for the tremors reference 😂
Absolutely awesome
Epic footage!
Interesting how the fish played with the bait but did not commit. From now on this will be my thinking on a slow day that they are there but not taking the bait. I've had a lot of floats damaged or chewed on. I use a toothpick broken off to peg the float up next to the hook. Great footage, some of the best I've ever seen. I'll continue to use FishGum both in the surf & on the charter boat when dropping down.
Amazing footage, thanks for sharing
You just blew my mind. Awesome vid
Mine is still blown
Incredible stuff.
LOL, "Tactical Surf rod!" Does it come with an extended magazine or just the normal 20 bait 'clip?' 😂
Pretty wild video!
this was awsome. commenting so the algorithm shows me more
I have a friend in the Philippines who fished the waters from shore in Florida for years and interesting to hear some of his stories. Interesting video.
Love the underwater footage try using squid for bait
Definitely cool video. Ordering now.
Maybe attach the Gofish to the weight pointed toward the bait.
Awesome. I will change my rigs immediately to add floats. No brainer.
You need to talk to the Sinker Guy! He’s using colored glass beads on the hook to simulate the coquina clams in the surf and he’s having great results!
I really appreciate this video because it is very educational and enjoyable to watch 👍👍👍
The floating bait is so cool, also gotta put some hooks into the floats themselves hehe.
This was awesome. 👍
