I love fixing old Akai stuff as well. You can get a crazy deal on something because a person doesn't know how or doesn't want to resolder a pad. The 5k is on my list.
@ it’s not difficult, just needs patience and having the right tools and set up really helps. You can practice on any old broken electrical items before messing with your pride and joy and UA-cam has some great soldering tutorials! 👍
@@nervouscooksHey man. I hope you got the limited edition Christmas Vocoder for Koala? It's available until 01/01/25. Been trying to message you since the update but been blocked by UA-cam! Best wishes to you.
Im a vsry proud owner of the 5000 and i too got one for a steal and fixed it up. However its definitely the lesser of the big boy mpcs the 2500 in my eyes being the be all and end all (in this line) Gr8 vid love an in depth look even after owning one you still pick up bits here and there 🥰🥰🥰
Great video. I just filmed and rebuilt my 5000 for my channel. Love this machine, especially since I repaired it and updated it to version 2 os. So much better.
WTF, this is nuts, literally around the time this video was uploaded I was looking through my sound folders while making a beat, and saw I had a Folder called "Akai 5000 Sounds", so I was like...where are those sounds actually from, and I googled "Akai 5000" and saw that this MPC exists (I know of basically every MPC but somehow not this lol), I'd somehow never seen/heard of it, finished my beat making session just there, refresh my Subscriptions page and you've uploaded this, what are the chances?? haha!
@@One37Works 😂 that’s pretty freaky! I don’t think this particular MPC has the cult status of something like the 3000 or 4000 but it’s a bit of a beast! 👍
@@nervouscooks Yeah honestly, when I saw it on Google images I was like, as you said, "Oh wow, it's the MPC X design", I honestly thought the only other similar one was the Renaissance haha!
Also I've noticed that if I don't use my 1k for a long time, the sliders and buttons need to be slid/pushed a few times before snapping back to normal functionality.
@@patrickmckowen1154 yeah I truly believe these machines need constant use. Caig Deoxit is a great fader lube albeit a bit expensive but it goes a long way.
@@MegaToneProductions hard to answer as I haven’t tried them all yet, but from my current selection excluding the Push 3 as it needs a computer I’d say my 1000 as I love the form factor and JJOS2XL is a joy to work with. I’m still hunting for a 2500 though as I always wanted one. 🙂

I wish I had better soldiering skills. I’ve soldered some fan wires but never done more intricate stuff like replacing tact switches
@@patrickmckowen1154 yeah, one man’s trash and all that. To be fair it’s not just old MPCs. There’s nothing like the feeling of fixing something! 👍🙂

If you’re giving the 5000 a chance….you have to check out the 4000 or MV8800/8000
I still use my MV8800 regularly.
@@dolo747same bro
I’d like to try both but only if I can find them at a good price. 4000s fetch good money! 🙂

@@PetrolMediaInc that’s great! I’ll check out your channel. It’s good to see other people keeping these machines alive. 👍🙂
The Mpc Ren's OS was Based on the Mpc5000 OS. ' The FX are the same and the Mpc 5000 Virtual Synth is the "The Bank" synth plugin in the Mpc REN!

Thanks for this ? How come I’ve never seen a proper MPC2500 vs MPC 5000 comparison ? Is there one lurking around ?
