also you gotta actually use the sampler yourself instead of going off somebody else review. half the time the youtubers doing review with the demo video and not the actual machine in front of them. thats pretty comedy to me actually

Ah! So you CAN play samples chromatically in this with the Note button. I couldn't find a definite answer to that anywhere.

I have to agree. I took a look at what push 3 offered and while it's great, for me and what I do, the push 2 still does the job.

Just picked one up for $400 and I’m stoked. My 500 is a fun little complement.

All these UA-camrs talking about gear music but I heard zilch of good tracks Not talented enough but gas and corporate establishment like yt gear manufacturers helps them make monies longest they don’t rock the boat Very sad side of existence

There´s the perspective of a musician, for a musician gear is just a tool, as long this tool (whatever it is) is good enough to be usable in a pro level, thats it, thats enough, nothing else matters... and not even that... slash made a bunch of records with a fake less paul, the guy from Gorilaz made a hit and a very iconic song with a monocord preset! thats a toy!.... gear is just importat because it unleashes different creativity moods in a musician, but thats all. And also we have the perspective of the casual hobbyst, not in the game for the music production or composition, but with interest in the capacities of a new device, almost like when you go and buy a tv or a new fridge, they believe the more specs it has, it is going to be proportional to the fun or the music they could create, but you know its not their fault, its the brands fault and also a bunch of youtuber/sellers tricking them into this idea....

I tryed to install it and did everything rich but the activation button never appeared and the screen would lock up so I had to go back to 2

Marlow couldn't enjoy Move because he expected it to be something else. He even refers to it as a "sampler" several times. I think Ableton is trying to simplify things and deliver a new music production experience (standalone, on the move). This is a great time to be a music production enjoyer for sure.

Ableton Move led me to your channel and I'm glad it did. I agree completely with every part of this video, and I'm really glad someone on UA-cam is talking about this. I've seen some people within other professions make similar points (photography and filmmaking for example) about how gear doesn't really matter in the way we have been "taught" that it should matter. Pixel perfect sharpness or the amount of tracks in a groovebox doesn't matter at all if the unit you're using doesn't inspire you to create or makes you feel good, like you said. And what does or doesn't inspire you is so personal, it's pretty much impossible to give an unbiased review of anything. All we can do is share our honest experience and maybe that experience will resonate with others. Yours certainly resonates with mine. Thank for your great, refreshing and honest videos. This is what I want UA-cam to be 😊

I’ve had issues with it not letting me play chops while trying to record live. Like it cuts off the next chop from playing in the process. What did you do here?

I think the dragging ux change is less about workflow and moreso helpful if you got sausage fingers and/or a small screen. Being able to just hold and drag allows for more confidence that someone selected the right option. Tapping smaller menu items that are obscured during the tap always makes someone like me feel a bit uneasy.

You make some great points. Very happy the algorithm led me to your channel; one of my favorites.

“How does it make you feel” and talking about the craft of making the music! That stands out to me so much, I’ve always wanted to create videos of the process of making but never felt right just making “how to use this device tutorials” if that makes sense cuz I’m not always so technically good at speaking about which buttons do what. What you just said made me get an epiphany of sorts where I totally agree with you and feel like it’s a necessity to speak on these terms for gear or music production in general. Thank you 😊

Why is that one Koala pad invisible (the 5th?) It’s funny just how obsessed the culture is with “value” and GAS. I just don’t see it that way. I don’t buy Ski-Doo’s or take lavish vacations, nor drink; either in bars or at home. It does nothing for me. But when I see a piece of gear that I want to play, I grab it. If I don’t gel with the workflow, it goes back! I never NEED it. But when I see people talking about price, I shake my head. Make music with whatever you like! But there truly is a culture of complaint around this stuff. I wanted a Field, I bought one. Push 3? Best decision I ever made. But if I couldn’t afford it, the LAST thing I’d be doing is taking my complaint to the masses. Give me Koala and we’re straight. But I have deep pockets when it comes to art and fresh food.

Hey bro. Is there a way to apply different saturators on the move at the same time? Each time I select one, it applies to all four instruments. I wonder if I’m missing something, but it appears as if the selected processing affects every synth or drum rack

This combo seems super cool man, how it working for you? I'm interested in getting these two devices move and sp, this way the 4 tracks limitation of move is no longer an issue and the so can be the track builder while move create new parts. I'd love to know how they are working together? The sync is cool? The sp capture loops from move and build sequences alright?

Agreed on all points! I really wish there were more channels like "Jon Makes Beat" Or "Marlow Digs" where they mainly just show the music making process. I love watching him make beats. They still get inundated with questions about gear, but they do a good of not getting caught up in talking about the differences and such. When people talk about gear I really want to hear about what aspects of it make them feel creative and why. Complaining about the 4-track limit on the move is dumb unless you tried it and found that it really held you back - and that would be an interesting story to tell in a youtube video.

i been making beats since 1996. Koala Sampler brings me the most joy. the fun of making beats again. i loved Reason back in the day.making beats in daws to ME isnt that enjoyable. i like mixing in reaper though.
