Cab Ride Disentis/Mustér - Chur along Switzerland’s Grand Canyon (RhB) train driver's view in 4K

- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view from Disentis/Mustér to Chur in Switzerland along the river Rhine in the Rhine Gorge also known as Switzerland’s Grand Canyon. You can enjoy this video in the resolution 4K/60 frames per second.
The journey will take us along the Reichenau-Tamins-Disentis/Mustér line and the Landquart-Thusis railway line of the Rhaetian Railway, both 1 metre-gauge lines. Chur is a capital of the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. The railway station was opened in 1858 and it is the most important railway junction in Graubünden. The station is the terminus of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) standard-gauge main line from Zürich, and is also one of the most important stations on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) metre-gauge network. There standard gauge line connects with the dual gauge Domat/Ems-Chur line of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). On a part of this journey we can see three different gauges: double gauge, normal gauge and and 1 metre-gauge.
The journey along the Rhine gorge: Ruinaulta is the name given to the monumental Rhine Gorge between Ilanz and Reichenau in the local Romansh dialect. Over a period of 10,000 years, the Rhine has pushed its way through the rock between Ilanz and Reichenau. The result is a gorge that is quite rightly known as the Swiss Grand Canyon.

Note that east of Domat/Ems station, the westbound tracks have a third rail to support 1,435 mm standard gauge trains. This is because there are industrial sites just west of Domat/Ems served by SBB freight trains coming in from other parts of Switzerland.

I love the mountains and valley. They are food for one who lives in a part of NSW Australia that is FLAT. Our one little hummock we call a pimple.

Since the winter route from Disentis to Chur was missing, I looked at the summer one! Disentis has an important abbey, the Vorderrhein and Hinterrhein valleys are of immeasurable beauty, especially after Ilanz, when the line is narrow in the river valley between the Alpine Canyons! When you cross the Rhine bridge, just before arriving in Reichenau Tamins, you see the other line with the train coming from St. Moritz. It seems like it was done on purpose but I think it's a coincidence. Beautiful line as always! Well done David!

As I have already asked in the comments relating to the video concerning the journey in the opposite direction, could anyone kindly tell me the reason that led to the schwap at the "Domat Ems" stop of the rail used by the standard gauge trains of the double gauge track? By any chance will the platform have to be served by new trains that have required rail schwap? Thank you very much for your cooperation and availability
The swap made by the third rail only affects the standard gauge freight trains serving Ems Chemie. It is done to allow the Rhätische Bahn passenger trains to maintain the correct distance from the platform edge. Only Rhätische Bahn narrow gauge passenger trains serve stations west of Chur. This swap also allows for greater clearance for standard gauge freight cars at Domat/Ems, Felsberg, and Chur West stations.
