génial! trajet non filmer à ma connaissance c'est un vrai plaisir de retrouver vos vidéos tout les 3 jours grâce à vous je voyage à travers le monde dans mon canapé merci
@jeannoelrenaudin2 I am happy to hear this. I love travelling and I enjoy sharing this beautiful journeys with the viewers around the world. I wish you a nice day and, see you again on Saturday!
Yes, indeed. I really like these train rides that go through snow. I used to be a very keen skier, one of those mad people who jumped off cornices and things like that. The sight of snow makes my body twitch. When I see a mountain side covered by snow, I try to work out how I'd ski down it.
Thanks a lot for the uncut passage through Furka Base Tunnel. I have been looking for a cab ride of this tunnel for a long time. Around 1:22:00 you can even see the famous Bedretto junction towards Ticino (or what might have been a junction). Absolutely fantastic!
Beautiful journey in the snow. My favourite kind of trip. I love the sound of the rack portions of the line it reminds me of the old wooden roller coaster sounds back home. Built in 1900 the leap the dips is the oldest working roller coaster in the USA to my knowledge and I have many wonderful memories of riding it with my grand daddy. WOW! Thanks for bringing so many memories rushing back. Just with a sound too. Isn't that amazing?
@user-hx9xd1eb9y Yes, it is amazing. I love that part when people remember some scenes from the past, either the places they already visited or, as it your case, the sound makes you travel back in time. I wish you a nice evening. At least on this part of the world it is evening at the moment.
Thank you for a fantastic train ride, for very good recordings - as always. I also like the link to a proper map, which many of your colleagues forget.
Great... but: come back to Italy! My dad is waitin’ for...! He adored the Sicily’ one, he had some but not with ‘modern’ trains...! He is hopin’ for Ivrea- Aosta - railway lines... rare to find and never complete...! You can do it! Your videos are the only ones that he really appreciates, for completeness of travel data, such as well-signposted stations, speed, etc.! 👏🏼
I believe that Disentis/Mustér is the division point is that Matterhorn Gothard Bahn locomotives are equipped to operate on a rack rail system, something that Rhaetian Railway locomotives and EMU's lack. That's why east of Disentis/Mustér, the rail line has lower grades and a lack of a rack system.
I think Disentis is we we boarded the Glacier Express when we went on it back in 2010. The train also divided in two there. I'm guessing that the other portion followed a bit behind us.
Disentis/Master e' la stazione capolinea della RhB (Ferrovia di Stato del Canton.Grigioni) . Si cambia il locomotore e inizia il percorso della MGB (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn) che termina a Zermatt.
Your videos are great! I'm interested in the Abt rack system that is engaged soon after leaving Disentis/Muster and is then disengaged a few minutes later when, I presume, the gradient gets more horizontal. Before seeing this video and a couple of others, I had assumed that the rack system was permanently engaged. Engaging and disengaging depending on the gradient, I presume, is brilliant. I also notice that in sections where there's snow between the running rails, there's a depression in the middle that looks like its made by the train engine's pinion. Is that correct. Does the engine's pinion stay in a fixed position, or can it be raised above the tracks when it's not needed? Sorry. I have an engineering degree and I suffer from insatiable curiosity. It's an affliction, but it's immensely interested learning new stuff. 😁😉
@roadie3124 I love the question.Unfortunately I do not have a lot of engineering knowledge myself, but am alway keen to learn new things. About the rack system, it really depends on the gradient and normally it is used only when it s needed. I can not answer you on your second question, I hope someone else can help out. I wish you nice day!
@@RailRelaxationUna risposta.
I seriously don't like the train horns from Europe, they lack a serious tone. That locomotive's horn sounds more like the horn from a train set, child's play.

@user-ym9fc5nt8x 😊
It's essentially a modern version of the single-horn whistles used by Swiss locomotives probably since the late 1800's.
The horn is only used to avoid danger. We do not use it for fun.
The main reason is that “obnoxious non European horns” with a lot of tone cause avalanches here… 🙃🏔️
