- Building my first custom keyboard was an awesome experience, and was especially satisfying to do with all these solid mid-range parts. The Tofu 65 and white theme turned out really clean, and I love the overall build. The board is a treat to type on. I was serious about the video sponsor btw (thanks, Grammy).
This is not meant to be a tutorial vid; I'm new at this.

What stabilizers did you use? I was building the Same thing but I can’t fine stabilizers for 65% keyboards

i did my first custom build a few months ago ...also used the tofu 65 but in black ... happy with it but damn it does look good in white too 😍.. for the switches i went with holy pandas i highly recommend... but liking the production quality great vid .... your voice sounds clean af... keep it up

When I saw the fly I laughed SO hard lmao, I did not expect that but nonetheless your video is helpful in a way because I'm new to keyboard mods and customs so I'm watching a bunch of videos right now while I wait for my Tofu65 (in white as well) to come in, I also got the durock v2 stabs. I can't wait honestly. Despite this video being 3 years old, still was helpful and fun to see how other new builders would build their keyboards!!

This is a great first build. I would use some tweezers to test that the PCB is working before you fully install your build, but otherwise very nice!

@@Sebatech do you not like the creams? From what I've heard they need to broken in because of the material they're made from. I have gateron black inks in my board they are super smooth

I have a Tofu60 but after watching this I'll probably get the Tofu65. It's a solid keyboard and a good all around workhorse.
It's a beautifully simple case, but tray mount is not optimal.
@@Sebatech what would you suggest for an upgrade? I'd really like to get an e-white keyboard, 65% or TKL, like the 7V. But I always miss the group buys and can't justify the mech market price gouging :(

It's really sexy, so I will encourage you to do so :)
I recommend switching the switches (no pun intended) with pom durocks there basically the same switch but with no scratchenes and better housing and spring

They’re pretty different. Although I would say that POM Durocks are better - it’s purely preference. The POM Durocks have a different stem, and honestly I prefer the sound of the NK_ Ceams. And another thing is if you go deeper into the keyboard hobby, those NK_ Creams are useful for frankenswitching.

I know a lot of people like the super modded sound of the Tofu65, but I personally love the sound of just the Tofu65 by itself
That's totally fair. I like the more muted sound and feel as opposed to the "harder" sound and feel as a result of a simple tray mount and all. I guess in a way it's ironic that the goal here is basically turning the Tofu into another board altogether
@@Sebatech Lol true. My endgame keyboard sound is Scarra's keyboard built by Taeha types so I always lean towards anything that sounds like that, which is gonna be a hard journey because Scarra's keyboard is a Keycult...

Honestly I’ve been through so many plates and I have settled on a polycarb plate.. it’s so superior with having a soft keypress I have steered away from metals

Thanks man. Yes, that's a good suggestion about taking out the music during sounds tests. I took it out during the main sound test in the most recent video on o ring modding
