    the cheapest i could find for the tune up was 460.00 and i would have to rent a car for the day at 30.00.
    750 at the dealership.
    I did it myself 80.00 after a 20.00 coupon

    I'm a retired disabled veteran who use to work on cars and trucks but I've taken a beating over the years and I usually take my vehicles to the dealership but now I'm unable to afford it so I'm planning on doing the exact same tune-up to my 2006 hyundai tucson gls 2.7ltr. This surprisingly is the exact same as the older (early 2000s) 2.7 litre delta hyundais like the sonata, santa fe, tiburon, and rarely seen trajet minivan (I got one), and in the USA the grandeur (we got the 3.0 theta engine). In the USA you got the kia sedona with the 3.8 litre from 06 to 10 but in 08 over here we changed to like a modified 2.7 that was the same as this except somehow VTEC was added to it. Basically an update of the old early 2000s delta. The 3.8 is actually renowned for its chain guide plastic just crumbling and dropping into the sump. Some people have a phenomenal 400k miles run, others are replacing stuff before 90k miles.

    I removed all of the bolts/nuts, but the manifold will not clear the front studs. It appears to be pivoting on the top stud of the surge tank with not enough clearance to rotate off of the two front studs. Did you have to loosen thr surge tank behind the manifold and slide it to the left in order to free the manifold from the stud and lift it up?

    • @Simmonsracing187
      @Simmonsracing187  3 роки тому

      There one stud on each side of plenum, they are pretty short,you should be able to pull it off,did you remove the brace that reaches across the top of engine?..2:34 of video

    • @redraven4641
      @redraven4641 3 роки тому

      @@Simmonsracing187 I removed the brace, but it appears (to me) that the manifold continues to pivot on the horizontal stud on top where the surge tank meets the manifold (5:05 of the video). It seems like since the manifold pivots on this horizontal stud, the manifold lifts up on an arc, which causes the holes in the front of the manifold to bind on the two corner studs (not a straight upward pull off the studs).
      If the two front studs were shorter or the holes not as deep, then it may lift off the front studs and then slide horizontally (to the right) off the top stud, but this does not appear to be the case.
      I have tried rocking the manifold every which way but loose and the holes on the front of the manifold continuously make contact with the studs due to not being able to be lifted straight up (not much play between the studs and the holes). The manifold will lift on the front about an 1/8 of an inch before the front holes make contact with the studs.
      I appreciate your time and response. Thank you.

      The plenum actually is 2 piece, there is a bolt that goes in from the drivers side going towards passenger side, and 2 or 3 bolts that go from passenger side towards drivers side,there is a plastic guard that will need to be removed to access one of the plenum bolts

      It's a metal gasket that goes on intake plenum, doesn't need to be replaced unless you damage it,you do want to replace plenum gasket that goes under plenum, it has 6 holes in it ,one per cylinder

    • @stevewinter9978
      @stevewinter9978 2 роки тому +1

      @@Simmonsracing187 For the Manifold-Intake Plenum Gasket, clean any build up around the edges ... I put it back without doing so and the gasket shifted just enough for the raised edge to get between the two mating surfaces. This created a leak that threw a Fuel Trim error ... As you tighten the nut & 2 bolts, jiggle the gasket to ensure the 'circle' seats itself in the round opening of the intake plenum.
