Thank you very much for this video. I was having problems installing a sound bar and your video showed me that you need to unpair a receiver in order for it to show the sound bar option. That was my problem thanks again
Deleted the "receiver" i had previously that finally allowed for the "soundbar" setup that I was missing, Thanks bigtime, would never have figured that out myself.

That is a little odd that you had to use both connections in order for it to work. If you remove the Optical cable now, the remote should work fine with just the HDMI. Give it a try and let me know.
@@DJsTutorials update. It worked as it should for about 30 minutes. Then i went to turn the volume down and now the remote isnt linked with the sound bar.
I’m glad to hear you recommend the optical second bc my soundbar doesn’t have HDMI hook up but it has Bluetooth, optical, Aux, Digital and yesterday randomly my kit won’t work with Bluetooth I mean my fire stick connects still but no sound and everything like say if I turn on a video to stream it goes like it’s being fast forwarded ugggg an never seen this before with any other sound bar an I’ve tried unhooking it an re hooking it up an unplugging everything an unplugging my router an ect an nothing helped an even seen a video on how to reset to factory mode with a vizio sound bar an that didn’t work so I pulled out the optical an I’m satisfied an never ever used optical til now lol but I like it
There's been a couple of updates for the Fire TV Stick the past couple of weeks which has something to do with the Soundbar not working over Bluetooth. Optical will give you better sound than Bluetooth especially if your Soundbar has surround speakers.

Yes it will. Just make sure you set your TVs Audio Output to PCM in order for the Optical to work properly. What brand TV and Soundbar are you using? It may just be a setting that was not enabled/changed for the HDMI ARC not to work.

Hi, I have an older version of vizio speaker and it doesn't have HDMI input. It only has AUX, optical, usb and sub out. I am using optical cable and the speaker doesn't automatically turn on. For some reason Im having issues connecting it to my fire tv cube remote. Under setting to add equipment I don't have an option to add soundbar. Do you have any recommendations for me? I would love to be able to control volume on my fire remote. thank you so much
Because you have a Fire TV Cube, you will need to redo the "Equipment Control" setup from the beginning. Just go to Settings > Equipment Control > Set Up Equipment Again. From there, you should be able to add the soundbar and be able to control it with the Fire TV remote after. Let me know how it goes.
There are a lot of sound bars for under $100 which will sound good, even at that low price but a lot will not work with the Amazon remote. So it is hard for me to recommend one for that price range and be sure that it sounds descent and also works with the Amazon remote. Also by you asking for EUR price range I take it you are from the EU which also makes it harder to know which ones are available for purchase in the EU. I am going to be testing a couple other ones soon but they price tag is $150 and up.
From the subwoofer, you don't get any audio out of it. Only bass that comes from the lower frequencies will go to the subwoofer and the higher frequencies like dialogue, will come from the soundbar. But you still should hear something out of it.
Hi I have a Bose sound bar and I got it connected to the Toshiba fire tv but the sound sometimes get distorted. It’s like sound pause sound pause. Do you know why it does that?
Any tips for controlling the Roku Streambar with FireTV remote? The TV is an Element with no CEC/ARC. Roku Streambar in HDMI1, Fire Stick is on HDMI2. Roku and Element suggested HDMI+optical for sound to go through sound bar. I can only get the FireTV remote to control the TV volume which doesn't instruct the Roku to adjust volume. Roku is not listed as a brand, but apparently we can edit the IR frequency.
No I don't think there is a way to control the Streambar with the Fire Stick remote. If you have a Echo dot though you can add a skill to control the volume and some other options.
Is your soundbar connected via HDMI, Optical, or Bluetooth? If it is connected via HDMI or Optical, you can try selecting a different brand (Samsung or any other name brand since portronics is not listed in there) and see if it will connect to it. Try a few different brands if the one you tried did not work.
If your soundbar is connected through the AUX input you will not be able to connect and control it with the Fire Stick. It needs to be connected with an HDMI cable, Optical cable, or Bluetooth in order to be controlled if possible (not all soundbars are compatible with the Fire Stick) with the Fire Stick remote.
Hi buddy.. great informative video. Just need to ask something. I’ve a Samsung smart TV which doesn’t have HDMI Arc port. It just has a normal hdmi port. I do have 4K fire stick. Can I still hook up a Sony Dolby atmos sound bar and control that with fire stick? What I mean is just one connection to fire stick will work with sound bar? Thanks in advance
Yes you can by using the Optical connection from the TV to the soundbar. Now since your TV does not have and HDMI ARC port, using an Optical connection you will not get the best sound quality as you would with an HDMI ARC connection (Dolby Atmos won't work with Optical for example). What I would recommend you doing is connecting the Fire Stick to the soundbar if it has an HDMI IN port. That way you get the best sound quality since you are not using the Optical connection from your TV and even if your TV did have an ARC port, connecting the Fire Stick 4K to the soundbar directly will give you better sound quality since it bypasses the TV. That is what I would do.
Yes you can in way as long as the soundbar is connected with an Optical cable. You can go to Equipment Control > Manage Equipment and remove the soundbar from in there. Now with that said, if your soundbar is connected with an HDMI cable, it will still turn on as soon as the TV powers on because of HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control). If that is the case, you will need to disable HDMI CEC from the TV settings.
I’m not sure if anyone has this problem, but every time I use my sound bar and connect it through Bluetooth and go to an app, when I press the home button my sound bar turns off. And I always have to go to settings and go to Bluetooth devices and do it manually. So my 2 questions are. Can I have my fire stick connect to my sound bar automatically with out me having to do it? And why does my sound bar keep turning off when I press the home button? I have the Q-600b Samsung Soundbar.
Sorry but you can't. In order to be able to control the volume, you need the volume controls. I would say wait for either the 3rd-gen Fire Stick to go on sale or one of the 4K Stick/Max.
Hi DJ, Is it possible to use our Roku Smart Soundbar as a soundbar for a 4k Firestick? We have the Roku Smart Soundbar connected to a Samsung TV HDMI (ARC). Thanks for your help.
If you connect the Fire Stick 4K to one of the free HDMI inputs of your TV, and the 4K Stick is setup with your Samsung TV to control the Power and Volume of it, then with HDMI CEC (must be Enabled) it may allow you to control the Roku Soundbar (since Roku Soundbars work with HDMI CEC to control the volume) without trying to add it in the Equipment Control setting of the 4K Stick. If that doesn't work, then you can try adding the soundbar by going to the 4K Stick Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Add Equipment > and see if the 4K Stick recognizes the Roku Smart Soundbar. Just make sure that there is no other soundbar or AV receiver listed in there. If there is it won't let you add the soundbar. Now, I did not see any Roku sound bars as an option to select from the list in there, but it may get detected or try using "Brand Not Listed" at the end of the list. Let me know how it goes.
@@DJsTutorials Thanks DJ, The solution was simple. I already had the Roku Smart Soundbar connected with HDMI (ARC), so I connected the soundbar and the Samsung TV with both the HDMI (ARC) cable and the optical cable then changed the Samsung audio to external speakers.
Hey Jim, the soundbar only uses one or the other not both types of connections (HDMI ARC & Optical). Does the 4K Stick control the volume now? If yes, then you can remove the Optical cable now and it should work fine.
Your TV only passes audio to the Soundbar and not video. If your Soundbar has an HDMI input and you connect a device to it and want to view 4k content, that's where HDCP comes in play.
How do you get Alexa to turn on and off sound bar? Got my bose system sync up, however want to use the voice command to turn system on and off? Is that possible
If you connected your soundbar to the Fire TV Stick in "Equipment Control" then all you need to do is press the microphone button and say, "Turn OFF/ON Soundbar". You can also use the microphone to raise or lower the volume on the soundbar by saying "Raise/Lower the Volume by 2 or by 25%, etc.). Hope this helps.

Yes you can plug the Fire Stick into the soundbar and get Dolby Atmos. Just make sure you have Dolby Digital Plus selected in the audio settings of the Fire Stick 4K. Also, does your TV have an HDMI ARC or an HDMI eARC port? The HW Q950T has HDMI eARC which is a good thing and it will work with HDMI ARC (it's backwards compatible) but if your TV has eARC make sure you enable it in the TVs sound settings. One last tip, make sure the HDMI cable you are using to connect the soundbar to the TV is a High Speed with Ethernet or Ultra-High speed cable. Is it a Fire TV Stick or a Fire TV Stick 4K you have? My only concern with the age of your TV is it may be HDCP 2.1 and not 2.2 which means it will not allow the Soundbar to pass through 4K video.
Hi DJ, I have a Samsung Soundbar and a FireTV. I connected the Soundbar via Bluetooth and followed the instructions for setup but ran into this problem: the sound is coming out of the soundbar, the remote turns the soundbar on/off but the volume controls show up on the TV instead of the soundbar itself. So, the volume can be maxed out on the TV but if I want it to get any louder I have to manually increase it on the soundbar. Any ideas? I haven't tried with a HDMI cable, just through BT
I would personally use the HDMI cable. Sound will be way better than the Bluetooth and then you should be able to control the volume with your remote. Also, when you power on/off the TV, the Soundbar will turn on/off the same time.
If your Soundbar has only 1 HDMI port that will be an ARC port which you will use to connect your TV's HDMI ARC to the Soundbar. The Fire Stick will connect to an available HDMI port on your TV.
That could be happening for a few reasons. I would start with 1st make sure you have enough storage space, preferably 1GB or more, 2nd clear the cache of your apps, and 3rd restart the Fire TV Stick. Let me know how it goes.
Are you using a Fire Edition TV by any chance? If so, the option to control other equipment is not supported because the remote does not have IR that is needed to control other equipment.
Hi! I have a couple of Edifiers Luna Eclipse HD connected by optical cable to the TV. Those speakers have a Power/Volume IR control remote. Could them pair with Fire Stick 4K remote? Thanks!
You should connect the soundbar to the HDMI ARC port of your TV and then the Fire Stick to another HDMI port on your TV. That way all devices can communicate with each other. Just make sure that HDMI CEC is enabled in your TV settings.
Suddenly my boat soundbar doesn't work with fire stick remote. I try this but it fails and shows try again all the time! What should I do? Wait for an update or something is wrong or I should do factors reset?
If the soundbar worked before and now it stopped working, remove the soundbar from Equipment Control. Then restart the FIre Stick and add the soundbar again. Make sure the batteries in the Fire Stick remote are good also. What kind of soundbar do you have, and how is it connected to the TV?

Everything was fine, until one day firestick remote couldn't control volume of boat soundbar (tv is of videocon) so i did reset factory of fire stick as it was unable to to pair with boat. Now when I did it's not showing me much add equipment only tv as add, I'm trying it's failing. Soundbar is can be connected., but volume is fixed it's too low. I don’t even see those many equipments in the Add Equipment option in my Fire Stick 4K. All I see is the TV only. I have installed all the latest software updates.
@@DJsTutorials correct. I figured out later that I need to add TV first before I can add any equipment. So, after I added TV I could see all the other equipments. I actually use a projector so I removed the TV later after I added my receiver.
I have a Vizio basic soundbar and Toshiba fire tv edition. When I plugged in the optical for it and try to sync the fire remote, after the August 2021 revamp update it isn't recognized under manage devices?
Toshiba and Insignia Fire Edition TVs do not have the capability to manage other equipment like a Soundbar or A/V Receiver using the TV's remote when it's connected using an Optical connection. The remote does not support IR. Only way to use the remote to control the volume is if the soundbar is connected with an HDMI cable and CEC is enabled or if the soundbar is connected via Bluetooth.

How is the Sonos speaker connected to your TV? Are you using an Optical cable, HDMI, or Bluetooth? Also, is it a Fire Stick or Fire Cube that you are using?

Hi I just figured out for this device it is not possible to send audio from a Fire TV stick to a Sonos One. You would need a Sonos device with a TV input; an Amp, Playbar, Playbase, or Beam.

The Fire Edition TV's even though they have the option for equipment control in the settings, the remote that comes with the TV does not support it. Not sure if the new remote they have for the new Fire Edition TVs is compatible with Equipment Control but that would be the only work around for that.
I’m trying to set up my Bose solo, and I can’t get past the screen where it says "We'll be playing music during the next step, please make sure the volume is turned up and continue." I've done it a few times and I've waited 15-20 minutes and haven't gotten passed this screen.
When you select the Soundbar, do you see "Advanced" below when you are ready to do the setup? If yes select that and see if your Soundbar model is listed in there.
Hello, having an issue, I just got an Amazon fire cube and I'm having an issue when I first turn on the TV and play any content Netflix or HBO for example I get no sound I can see the lights for volume go up and down when I use Amazon remote but no sound only when I use my soundbars remote and hit input HDMI EARC will the sound work. Then I can use the Amazon remote to control the sound. It will even work with voice commands. This will have to be done everytime I turn the TV on. I have a Vizio 5.1.2 sound bar surround system. Any ideas what the issue could be?
It sounds like the soundbar defaults to a different input other than the HDMI eARC port when you first turn on the equipment. Before you got the Cube, did you have to select the HDMI eARC input on your soundbar in order to hear the sound or that started when you connected the Cube? I assume you have the Fire TV Cube connected to an HDMI port on your TV and then the TV connected to the soundbar using the HDMI ARC/eARC port. Nothing else connected to the soundbar like another device, a game console, or Blu-ray player correct? Also there is no other cable connected to the soundbar like an Optical cable right? Does your TV have an HDMI ARC port or an HDMI ARC/eARC port. Is HDMI CEC enabled in your TV settings and if it has an eARC port, is that enabled also in the TV settings? Can you please answer these questions for me so I can get a better idea of how everything is connected so I can try to figure out where the problem may be?

The specific Soundbar that you have may not be compatible with the Fire TV Stick. Not all are. How is it connected to the TV? Using an HDMI or Optical connection?

@@DJsTutorials The sound bar I believe isn't wired up to the TV. I don't know if it's Bluetooth enabled, but the sound bar can sense my fire TV remote from afar. It does have a optical port without the cord.
Any way to make this work with an insignia Fire TV? I don’t have the “manage equipment” option in settings. Sound bar only has optical and Aux inputs. Am I stuck with using two separate remotes (TV and Soundbar)
Sorry there isn't any other way to pair the Insignia remote with the Soundbar. You figure it's a Fire Stick OS built in the TV, they should of included that option, but I guess Amazon did not see it useful for some odd reason.

I think I need to remove my soundbar from my FireStick and then reinstall it. The output from the TV is optical. I've tried every thing I could find on settings but the brand of soundbar we are using does not display. Pressing the 3-line button did not do anything. Help?
Not all soundbars work with the Fire Stick and yours may be one of them. But, for some people, depending on the soundbar that is, choosing another brand ( like Samsung, LG, Sony) actually worked for them. Try out some other brands and see if one of them works for you?
I have a new FS and it is working fine on optical with my LG sound bar but when I use the volume control on the FS remote I get a warning that my TV is on external speakers and I am controlling the TV volume. This is not correct because the FS is controlling the bar speakers. I think maybe the FS remote is controlling both at once. How can I get rid of this obnoxious warning that lasts about 15 seconds and cannot be remotely removed?
The first thing I would check is: Go to the FS Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Advanced Settings > Volume Control Device > and make sure that the soundbar is selected in there. Also, in the TV settings, make sure that the TV speakers are set to OFF and the audio output is set to Optical. Hope this helps. Let me know.
@@DJsTutorials I appreciate your advice but it didn't work. I also tried the HDMI ARC on my TV to the ARC on the LG sound bar but I could only get sound on the FS and not the normal TV set-top box. I finally gave up and went back to optical. Both sounds work but I still get the warning about the speakers but only when on the FS. On the TV I don't have a speakers off switch, only TV speakers or External speakers. I have it in External mode.

@@DJsTutorials The TV is a Samsung 3D 65-inch with Opt, HDMI 1,2,3 ARC,4,5, and the bar is an LG with Opt, HDMI ARC out, and HDMI in. Right now I have the TV in HDMI 1 and it is labeled set top box and the FS in HDMI 2 with the Optical plugged in on both. Using the ARC on the TV and bar gives me sound on the bar but not the TV.
@@rudyyarbrough5122 Not sure if this will be accurate since I only went by the type of TV you said you have and not the model of it. If you go in your TVs settings, you should have a Speaker settings in there. Menu > Sound > Speaker Settings > AUTO VOLUME. If you have Auto Volume set it to OFF.
Did it just stop working or did you change HDMI inputs of your Fire TV Stick? Check to see if something changed in the settings. Go to Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Advanced Settings > Volume Control Device. In there it should have a check mark next to Soundbar. If check mark is on TV, select Soundbar. Also under "Manage Equipment" make sure your soundbar is listed in there.
Check the audio output settings from the TV. Make sure it's set to HDMI ARC if you are using an HDMI cable. If you are using an Optical connection change to PCM (in the TV audio settings).
Yes it does but a lot of people find the information before that useful. It may not be for you and for a few other people that already know all that but not everyone does.
You must have a 1st or 2nd generation Fire Stick without the volume controls on your remote. Now that said, I would not pair it with Bluetooth to the Fire Stick. If your Soundbar has an HDMI connection use that. If not and has an Optical connection go for that and either keep using the Soundbar remote or pair it with your TV remote.

So I got the Fire TV Cube in today and I did the initial setup and when I followed the steps it set up my TV and AV Receiver. Are you trying to add a soundbar to the cube but are not seeing the add equipment? If so, go to Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > in there you should see Add Equipment option. If you previously added a AV Receiver you will not see an option for a soundbar. You will have to remove the receiver first and then you should see the option to add a soundbar. Let me know how it goes.
Why are you giving all this technical information to people that don’t care just show me how to get the remote to work in conjunction with the TV show me.
I would recommend connecting your soundbar with an HDMI cable or Optical. With Bluetooth, 1st you are not getting the best sound quality, 2nd you will have audio sync issues, and 3rd you will have issues with the connection disconnecting every so often. Is HDMI or Optical an option?
That could have to do with the source of the movie or the app that you are using. Is it for all apps and when you say not high enough are you talking about that you have to raise the volume to 80 (out of 100) to start hearing the movie or 50 compared to 30 that you use on your TV?
That's ok no worries. You can try to change the HDMI port you are using and see if that helps. Other than that, if the sound is coming from your TV speakers I would look in the TV settings under audio and see if they have any settings for the HDMI port you are using.
@@DJsTutorials Hey, I'm using Fire tv stick lite on my Samsung Tv. I'm used to of using Bluetooth headphones while watching Tv(Using firestick) never had volume issues before. But few Days ago I turned on Bluetooth and volume was too low. Literally too low. I turned off my Tv volume and wasn't able to hear any sound like no sound of fire stick.(Tbh I never knew that firestick has its own sound or not, because without Bluetooth connected my firestick never had sound)

In order to control the volume with a Fire TV Stick Lite you will need to use a different Fire TV remote that has the Power & Volume Control Buttons on it like the one that comes with the 2020 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick, 4K Stick, 4K Max, or the Cube.
Hi friend, I got a Philips 1520B/37 Soundbar and I can't link it, I hit the button many times and it does nothing. Also, I use the advanced settings and type "1520" in the url and it does nothing. I give several of the defaults that come out and nothing at all, what do I do?
With a Bluetooth connection the only thing you can do is control the volume of the soundbar if you are using a 4K Max, Fire Cube, 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick, or Fire Edition TV. The 4K Stick does not have the volume control capability. If you use the HDMI ARC connection then you will be able to turn the soundbar ON or OFF and control the volume.
So I get to the part where Firestick plays music for remote connect but for some reason it just spins and never loads/connect....I am using Polk Omni sb1 and there is no HDMI connect..any suggestions on what to do?

I would try checking that all the updates are installed, remove the soundbar from your list of equipment, restart the fire stick and try it again. Let me know

One thing that I did have to change in the TV settings was the Audio Output to PCM since the connection I was using is Optical and an Optical connection required the audio output to be set to PCM.

Does your soundbar support ARC? If not, try using an optical connection and see if that helps. If you want you can provide me with the soundbar model # and I can look into it for more information.
Can you control the volume levels? If the remote is programmed with your TV it set to turn off the TV and not the Soundbar. You will need to change the power options
If you go to 7:41 of the video. I explain about how to turn on or off the power of the Soundbar using the remote. Just keep in mind that if you set it to turn off the Soundbar your TV won't turn off after. Only way to turn both off is if the Soundbar is connected via HDMI
That could happen because either your sound bar does not have 4K passthrough or the HDCP version is not the same meaning the sound bar is HDCP 2.1 and your TV is 2.2 or the other way around. When HDCP is not the same version it downgrades the video from 4K to 1080p
@@BlackCrowVr Yes you can connect the Fire Stick 4K to your TV and turn the TV on and off with the Fire Stick remote. If the Fire Stick 4K was setup for a different TV or you need to add your TV, just go in the settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > and change or add your TV in there. You may also be able to control the sound from the soundbar with the Fire Stick remote by adding the soundbar in there also.
I have a ilive soundbar. every time I press the volume it goes way to loud so i change it to 1 interval. It doesnt respond and it still goes way to loud, can anyone helped ???

For some reason I had to use the optical audio and hdmi for my Bose sound bar to connect to the remote. It worked though so I’ll take it!
That is a little odd that you had to use both connections in order for it to work. If you remove the Optical cable now, the remote should work fine with just the HDMI. Give it a try and let me know.

Most of the sound bars will connect to the Fire Stick. The ones that the price is to good to be true probably won't, they have to cut down somewhere.

There's been a couple of updates for the Fire TV Stick the past couple of weeks which has something to do with the Soundbar not working over Bluetooth. Optical will give you better sound than Bluetooth especially if your Soundbar has surround speakers.

Yes it will. Just make sure you set your TVs Audio Output to PCM in order for the Optical to work properly. What brand TV and Soundbar are you using? It may just be a setting that was not enabled/changed for the HDMI ARC not to work.

Hi, I have an older version of vizio speaker and it doesn't have HDMI input. It only has AUX, optical, usb and sub out. I am using optical cable and the speaker doesn't automatically turn on. For some reason Im having issues connecting it to my fire tv cube remote. Under setting to add equipment I don't have an option to add soundbar. Do you have any recommendations for me? I would love to be able to control volume on my fire remote. thank you so much
Because you have a Fire TV Cube, you will need to redo the "Equipment Control" setup from the beginning. Just go to Settings > Equipment Control > Set Up Equipment Again. From there, you should be able to add the soundbar and be able to control it with the Fire TV remote after. Let me know how it goes.
Hello friend, excellent video. Can you recommend me a soundbar of less than 100 USD/EUR which I can pair this way?
There are a lot of sound bars for under $100 which will sound good, even at that low price but a lot will not work with the Amazon remote. So it is hard for me to recommend one for that price range and be sure that it sounds descent and also works with the Amazon remote. Also by you asking for EUR price range I take it you are from the EU which also makes it harder to know which ones are available for purchase in the EU. I am going to be testing a couple other ones soon but they price tag is $150 and up.

From the subwoofer, you don't get any audio out of it. Only bass that comes from the lower frequencies will go to the subwoofer and the higher frequencies like dialogue, will come from the soundbar. But you still should hear something out of it.

Any tips for controlling the Roku Streambar with FireTV remote? The TV is an Element with no CEC/ARC. Roku Streambar in HDMI1, Fire Stick is on HDMI2. Roku and Element suggested HDMI+optical for sound to go through sound bar. I can only get the FireTV remote to control the TV volume which doesn't instruct the Roku to adjust volume. Roku is not listed as a brand, but apparently we can edit the IR frequency.
No I don't think there is a way to control the Streambar with the Fire Stick remote. If you have a Echo dot though you can add a skill to control the volume and some other options.

Is your soundbar connected via HDMI, Optical, or Bluetooth? If it is connected via HDMI or Optical, you can try selecting a different brand (Samsung or any other name brand since portronics is not listed in there) and see if it will connect to it. Try a few different brands if the one you tried did not work.

If your soundbar is connected through the AUX input you will not be able to connect and control it with the Fire Stick. It needs to be connected with an HDMI cable, Optical cable, or Bluetooth in order to be controlled if possible (not all soundbars are compatible with the Fire Stick) with the Fire Stick remote.

Yes you can by using the Optical connection from the TV to the soundbar. Now since your TV does not have and HDMI ARC port, using an Optical connection you will not get the best sound quality as you would with an HDMI ARC connection (Dolby Atmos won't work with Optical for example). What I would recommend you doing is connecting the Fire Stick to the soundbar if it has an HDMI IN port. That way you get the best sound quality since you are not using the Optical connection from your TV and even if your TV did have an ARC port, connecting the Fire Stick 4K to the soundbar directly will give you better sound quality since it bypasses the TV. That is what I would do.

Correct, if you use the Optical connection. If you have an HDMI IN on your soundbar then use that to get the best sound quality.

Yes you can in way as long as the soundbar is connected with an Optical cable. You can go to Equipment Control > Manage Equipment and remove the soundbar from in there. Now with that said, if your soundbar is connected with an HDMI cable, it will still turn on as soon as the TV powers on because of HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control). If that is the case, you will need to disable HDMI CEC from the TV settings.
I’m not sure if anyone has this problem, but every time I use my sound bar and connect it through Bluetooth and go to an app, when I press the home button my sound bar turns off. And I always have to go to settings and go to Bluetooth devices and do it manually. So my 2 questions are. Can I have my fire stick connect to my sound bar automatically with out me having to do it? And why does my sound bar keep turning off when I press the home button? I have the Q-600b Samsung Soundbar.

Sorry but you can't. In order to be able to control the volume, you need the volume controls. I would say wait for either the 3rd-gen Fire Stick to go on sale or one of the 4K Stick/Max.

Is it possible to use our Roku Smart Soundbar as a soundbar for a 4k Firestick? We have the Roku Smart Soundbar connected to a Samsung TV HDMI (ARC). Thanks for your help.
If you connect the Fire Stick 4K to one of the free HDMI inputs of your TV, and the 4K Stick is setup with your Samsung TV to control the Power and Volume of it, then with HDMI CEC (must be Enabled) it may allow you to control the Roku Soundbar (since Roku Soundbars work with HDMI CEC to control the volume) without trying to add it in the Equipment Control setting of the 4K Stick. If that doesn't work, then you can try adding the soundbar by going to the 4K Stick Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Add Equipment > and see if the 4K Stick recognizes the Roku Smart Soundbar. Just make sure that there is no other soundbar or AV receiver listed in there. If there is it won't let you add the soundbar. Now, I did not see any Roku sound bars as an option to select from the list in there, but it may get detected or try using "Brand Not Listed" at the end of the list. Let me know how it goes.

The solution was simple. I already had the Roku Smart Soundbar connected with HDMI (ARC), so I connected the soundbar and the Samsung TV with both the HDMI (ARC) cable and the optical cable then changed the Samsung audio to external speakers.
Hey Jim, the soundbar only uses one or the other not both types of connections (HDMI ARC & Optical). Does the 4K Stick control the volume now? If yes, then you can remove the Optical cable now and it should work fine.

Your TV only passes audio to the Soundbar and not video. If your Soundbar has an HDMI input and you connect a device to it and want to view 4k content, that's where HDCP comes in play.
How do you get Alexa to turn on and off sound bar? Got my bose system sync up, however want to use the voice command to turn system on and off? Is that possible
If you connected your soundbar to the Fire TV Stick in "Equipment Control" then all you need to do is press the microphone button and say, "Turn OFF/ON Soundbar". You can also use the microphone to raise or lower the volume on the soundbar by saying "Raise/Lower the Volume by 2 or by 25%, etc.). Hope this helps.

Yes you can plug the Fire Stick into the soundbar and get Dolby Atmos. Just make sure you have Dolby Digital Plus selected in the audio settings of the Fire Stick 4K. Also, does your TV have an HDMI ARC or an HDMI eARC port? The HW Q950T has HDMI eARC which is a good thing and it will work with HDMI ARC (it's backwards compatible) but if your TV has eARC make sure you enable it in the TVs sound settings. One last tip, make sure the HDMI cable you are using to connect the soundbar to the TV is a High Speed with Ethernet or Ultra-High speed cable. Let me know if you have any other questions, I will gladly answer them.

Hi DJ, I have a Samsung Soundbar and a FireTV. I connected the Soundbar via Bluetooth and followed the instructions for setup but ran into this problem: the sound is coming out of the soundbar, the remote turns the soundbar on/off but the volume controls show up on the TV instead of the soundbar itself. So, the volume can be maxed out on the TV but if I want it to get any louder I have to manually increase it on the soundbar. Any ideas? I haven't tried with a HDMI cable, just through BT
I would personally use the HDMI cable. Sound will be way better than the Bluetooth and then you should be able to control the volume with your remote. Also, when you power on/off the TV, the Soundbar will turn on/off the same time.

That could be happening for a few reasons. I would start with 1st make sure you have enough storage space, preferably 1GB or more, 2nd clear the cache of your apps, and 3rd restart the Fire TV Stick. Let me know how it goes.

Are you using a Fire Edition TV by any chance? If so, the option to control other equipment is not supported because the remote does not have IR that is needed to control other equipment.

If the soundbar worked before and now it stopped working, remove the soundbar from Equipment Control. Then restart the FIre Stick and add the soundbar again. Make sure the batteries in the Fire Stick remote are good also. What kind of soundbar do you have, and how is it connected to the TV?

Everything was fine, until one day firestick remote couldn't control volume of boat soundbar (tv is of videocon) so i did reset factory of fire stick as it was unable to to pair with boat. Sometimes, if you select another brand it works for Soundbars that are not listed. Try a couple of different ones never know.
I don’t even see those many equipments in the Add Equipment option in my Fire Stick 4K. All I see is the TV only. I have installed all the latest software updates.

I have a Vizio basic soundbar and Toshiba fire tv edition. When I plugged in the optical for it and try to sync the fire remote, after the August 2021 revamp update it isn't recognized under manage devices?
Toshiba and Insignia Fire Edition TVs do not have the capability to manage other equipment like a Soundbar or A/V Receiver using the TV's remote when it's connected using an Optical connection. The remote does not support IR. Only way to use the remote to control the volume is if the soundbar is connected with an HDMI cable and CEC is enabled or if the soundbar is connected via Bluetooth.

Hi I just figured out for this device it is not possible to send audio from a Fire TV stick to a Sonos One. You would need a Sonos device with a TV input; an Amp, Playbar, Playbase, or Beam.

The Fire Edition TV's even though they have the option for equipment control in the settings, the remote that comes with the TV does not support it. Not sure if the new remote they have for the new Fire Edition TVs is compatible with Equipment Control but that would be the only work around for that.

Hello, having an issue, I just got an Amazon fire cube and I'm having an issue when I first turn on the TV and play any content Netflix or HBO for example I get no sound I can see the lights for volume go up and down when I use Amazon remote but no sound only when I use my soundbars remote and hit input HDMI EARC will the sound work. Then I can use the Amazon remote to control the sound. It will even work with voice commands. This will have to be done everytime I turn the TV on. I have a Vizio 5.1.2 sound bar surround system. Any ideas what the issue could be?
It sounds like the soundbar defaults to a different input other than the HDMI eARC port when you first turn on the equipment. Before you got the Cube, did you have to select the HDMI eARC input on your soundbar in order to hear the sound or that started when you connected the Cube? I assume you have the Fire TV Cube connected to an HDMI port on your TV and then the TV connected to the soundbar using the HDMI ARC/eARC port. Nothing else connected to the soundbar like another device, a game console, or Blu-ray player correct? Also there is no other cable connected to the soundbar like an Optical cable right? Does your TV have an HDMI ARC port or an HDMI ARC/eARC port. Is HDMI CEC enabled in your TV settings and if it has an eARC port, is that enabled also in the TV settings? Can you please answer these questions for me so I can get a better idea of how everything is connected so I can try to figure out where the problem may be?

The specific Soundbar that you have may not be compatible with the Fire TV Stick. Not all are. How is it connected to the TV? Using an HDMI or Optical connection?

@@DJsTutorials The sound bar I believe isn't wired up to the TV. I don't know if it's Bluetooth enabled, but the sound bar can sense my fire TV remote from afar. It does have a optical port without the cord.

mine doesnt show soundbar as an option in my settings on the fire cube
There must be a AV receiver already setup in there that you will need to remove first and then you will see soundbar as an option.
Any way to make this work with an insignia Fire TV? I don’t have the “manage equipment” option in settings. Sound bar only has optical and Aux inputs. Am I stuck with using two separate remotes (TV and Soundbar)
Sorry there isn't any other way to pair the Insignia remote with the Soundbar. You figure it's a Fire Stick OS built in the TV, they should of included that option, but I guess Amazon did not see it useful for some odd reason.

I think I need to remove my soundbar from my FireStick and then reinstall it. The output from the TV is optical. I've tried every thing I could find on settings but the brand of soundbar we are using does not display. Pressing the 3-line button did not do anything. Help?
Not all soundbars work with the Fire Stick and yours may be one of them. But, for some people, depending on the soundbar that is, choosing another brand ( like Samsung, LG, Sony) actually worked for them. Try out some other brands and see if one of them works for you?

If it worked before then just remove it from Equipment Control and add it again. It should work again then after it gets setup.
I have a new FS and it is working fine on optical with my LG sound bar but when I use the volume control on the FS remote I get a warning that my TV is on external speakers and I am controlling the TV volume. This is not correct because the FS is controlling the bar speakers. I think maybe the FS remote is controlling both at once. How can I get rid of this obnoxious warning that lasts about 15 seconds and cannot be remotely removed?
The first thing I would check is: Go to the FS Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Advanced Settings > Volume Control Device > and make sure that the soundbar is selected in there. Also, in the TV settings, make sure that the TV speakers are set to OFF and the audio output is set to Optical. Hope this helps. Let me know.
@@DJsTutorials I appreciate your advice but it didn't work. I also tried the HDMI ARC on my TV to the ARC on the LG sound bar but I could only get sound on the FS and not the normal TV set-top box. I finally gave up and went back to optical. Both sounds work but I still get the warning about the speakers but only when on the FS. On the TV I don't have a speakers off switch, only TV speakers or External speakers. I have it in External mode.

@@DJsTutorials The TV is a Samsung 3D 65-inch with Opt, HDMI 1,2,3 ARC,4,5, and the bar is an LG with Opt, HDMI ARC out, and HDMI in. Right now I have the TV in HDMI 1 and it is labeled set top box and the FS in HDMI 2 with the Optical plugged in on both. Using the ARC on the TV and bar gives me sound on the bar but not the TV.
@@rudyyarbrough5122 Not sure if this will be accurate since I only went by the type of TV you said you have and not the model of it. If you go in your TVs settings, you should have a Speaker settings in there. Menu > Sound > Speaker Settings > AUTO VOLUME. If you have Auto Volume set it to OFF.

Did it just stop working or did you change HDMI inputs of your Fire TV Stick? Check to see if something changed in the settings. Go to Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Advanced Settings > Volume Control Device. In there it should have a check mark next to Soundbar. If check mark is on TV, select Soundbar. Also under "Manage Equipment" make sure your soundbar is listed in there.

Check the audio output settings from the TV. Make sure it's set to HDMI ARC if you are using an HDMI cable. If you are using an Optical connection change to PCM (in the TV audio settings).

Yes it does but a lot of people find the information before that useful. It may not be for you and for a few other people that already know all that but not everyone does.
On my fire tv there is no equipment control. What are my options besides Bluetooth? Because the sound on bluetooth is horrible.
You must have a 1st or 2nd generation Fire Stick without the volume controls on your remote. Now that said, I would not pair it with Bluetooth to the Fire Stick. If your Soundbar has an HDMI connection use that. If not and has an Optical connection go for that and either keep using the Soundbar remote or pair it with your TV remote.

So I got the Fire TV Cube in today and I did the initial setup and when I followed the steps it set up my TV and AV Receiver. Are you trying to add a soundbar to the cube but are not seeing the add equipment? If so, go to Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > in there you should see Add Equipment option. If you previously added a AV Receiver you will not see an option for a soundbar. You will have to remove the receiver first and then you should see the option to add a soundbar. Let me know how it goes.

They are both part of Dish. Prior to getting the sound bar, I had audio for both?

I would recommend connecting your soundbar with an HDMI cable or Optical. With Bluetooth, 1st you are not getting the best sound quality, 2nd you will have audio sync issues, and 3rd you will have issues with the connection disconnecting every so often. Is HDMI or Optical an option?
When it got to the power button part, my Vizio sound bar would not turn off. It used to work just fine but now it doesn’t.

Hello I have a firestick and when watching a movie the volume isn’t that high compared to the reg tv what’s can I do to improve the volume?
That could have to do with the source of the movie or the app that you are using. Is it for all apps and when you say not high enough are you talking about that you have to raise the volume to 80 (out of 100) to start hearing the movie or 50 compared to 30 that you use on your TV?

That's ok no worries. You can try to change the HDMI port you are using and see if that helps. Other than that, if the sound is coming from your TV speakers I would look in the TV settings under audio and see if they have any settings for the HDMI port you are using.

I'm used to of using Bluetooth headphones while watching Tv(Using firestick) never had volume issues before.
But few Days ago I turned on Bluetooth and volume was too low. Literally too low. I turned off my Tv volume and wasn't able to hear any sound like no sound of fire stick.(Tbh I never knew that firestick has its own sound or not, because without Bluetooth connected my firestick never had sound)

In order to control the volume with a Fire TV Stick Lite you will need to use a different Fire TV remote that has the Power & Volume Control Buttons on it like the one that comes with the 2020 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick, 4K Stick, 4K Max, or the Cube.

With a Bluetooth connection the only thing you can do is control the volume of the soundbar if you are using a 4K Max, Fire Cube, 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick, or Fire Edition TV. The 4K Stick does not have the volume control capability. If you use the HDMI ARC connection then you will be able to turn the soundbar ON or OFF and control the volume.

So I get to the part where Firestick plays music for remote connect but for some reason it just spins and never loads/connect....I am using Polk Omni sb1 and there is no HDMI connect..any suggestions on what to do?

@@travis3200 Hi Travis, my Insignia TV does not have Manage Equipment in the settings so I am not sure why yours does. One thing that I did have to change in the TV settings was the Audio Output to PCM since the connection I was using is Optical and an Optical connection required the audio output to be set to PCM.

I tried to connect with an HDMI cable, but then it said my Sub-Wuffer was incompatible. They are Toshiba Speakers with Sub-Wuffer.
Does your soundbar support ARC? If not, try using an optical connection and see if that helps. If you want you can provide me with the soundbar model # and I can look into it for more information.

Can you control the volume levels? If the remote is programmed with your TV it set to turn off the TV and not the Soundbar. You will need to change the power options

If you go to 7:41 of the video. I explain about how to turn on or off the power of the Soundbar using the remote. Just keep in mind that if you set it to turn off the Soundbar your TV won't turn off after. Only way to turn both off is if the Soundbar is connected via HDMI
I plugged the 4k fire tv into the sound bar and sound bar into the arc hdmi on tv. I am not getting 4k on Disney plus or Netflix.
That could happen because either your sound bar does not have 4K passthrough or the HDCP version is not the same meaning the sound bar is HDCP 2.1 and your TV is 2.2 or the other way around. When HDCP is not the same version it downgrades the video from 4K to 1080p

@@BlackCrowVr Yes you can connect the Fire Stick 4K to your TV and turn the TV on and off with the Fire Stick remote. If the Fire Stick 4K was setup for a different TV or you need to add your TV, just go in the settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > and change or add your TV in there. You may also be able to control the sound from the soundbar with the Fire Stick remote by adding the soundbar in there also.

If the Soundbar does not work with IR then neither one will work well especially if the remote that came with it does not work properly.

Could it be the soundbar that you are using the problem? Not all sound bars are compatible with the Fire Stick.
I went thru the same process but still cannot adjust the vizio sound bar volume.
