Yes, you obviously need the correct connector on the camera side (not the GoPro Bones cable). Then you need to verify your cameras input voltage and make sure it is compatible.
Wiring it the way we have the camera draws from cells 1,2,3 and 4. With the little amount the camera draws you won't notice any unbalance, maybe .05 to .08 volts higher on cells 5 and 6.
No you don't need them if you make your cable similar to the video with Ground on the 1st pin and positive on the 5th pin (technically those are the only 2 pins you need).
Your Naked GoPro 8 will take a different cable / connector to the camera, but adding an XH connector to the wires on the LiPo side is the same. Be sure to check your maximum input voltage to your naked GoPro and stay under that.
Great video! I need to power my hero bones, but some people say that you may fry it without a 5vbec like the iflight usb cable because of the voltage peaks of the lipo. What do you think about it?
There are two sides two it... Using the 5V BEC you are right on the bubble of having enough voltage to power the camera, but I've not had any issues with it, but it is possible to not have enough power, this is why the same cable isn't compatible with the full size Hero 10 without the battery installed, it requires a 2 amp minimum power source. On the other hand without the iFlight cable you are relying on the internal BEC of the camera which if it goes bad you have to replace the entire camera. This is why when I wire these cables up I do the 6S version at 4S voltage, in this case lower voltage is safer.
Use the QR Control app. It's in the Prefs section under WiFi. I did a video on QR Control with a Naked Hero 8 here: ua-cam.com/video/aCXTO1yl4lc/v-deo.html
If you are very good at soldering no they don't need to come out. If you leave the soldering iron on there for more than a split-second you will melt the housing and have either a crooked or loose pin. I do about 5 of these a day, I usually don't take them out, but it's a good idea for the average hobbyist to IMHO
Thank you for this video and I need cable same as the cable comes with the boxes bone
Please could you write down this message 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The Bones cables are available on our website here: bit.ly/blackbonescable
Thanks for this. Doesn't GoPro's website say the Bones only takes a max 5v?
No, that 5v reference is for the camera shutter wire (the yellow one) The camera can be powered up to 6S voltage.
Hello! Will this still work for a GoPro 12 naked? Thanks :)

Hi, good idea, but just wonder how much does using 4cells from a 6cell lipo will unbalance it...

I have a question. Did i need the 6th and 7th pin bcs i have 7 pin connector but without 6 and 7 pin

@@AerialPixel thanks man it worked
Hi, would this be the same for a naked GoPro 8?

@@AerialPixel brilliant thanks for your response appreciated. 2s - 4s is power input, I’m running 4s so that’s perfect

@@AerialPixel thats great news so it doesn't matters if i use 4s or 6s lipo, as long as I use only 4 cells voltage (16.8) I'm ok with spikes
What would be different if you are using a 3s batt
You would just use a 4-pin JST-XH connector, everything else would be identical.
Hey Thanks for the Tip. Do you know a way to change the Wifi of the Gopro from 5ghz to 2.4 ghz without the Backscreen? Thnaks for your help

@@AerialPixel Thank you so much man! I must have overlooked this option in the QR Control app!! Time to fly now ;-)
Anytime! Have fun, fly safe!
Do the pins REALLY need to come out? Lol
