I like the hard-hitting mid bass over the insane sub bass. I envision sitting in a small club with a live band in front of me. Not some rapping electronic created bass. So that is how I tune my sound system.

6x9 and 6.5 are not meant to do the lows. The expensive SQ speakers can get low around 50-60hz but most mid range speakers need to be cut at 80hz atleast. SUBS take 20hz-80hz and run the show
Especially in a sealed small box, 6x9 suspension design is anticipating a free air or infinite baffle setup. I run 4 of mine in small sealed enclosures but I also run a 100 Hz crossover at -12dbm. It probably helps that they're 100w RMS 6x9 and I am pushing 50 watt rms from a MTX amplifier into them. The ones that are NOT in small sealed boxes are in the doors on 15w (deck power but they're a lot more sensitive and almost as loud on 15w) and I think those ones are crossed over at 80 Hz -6dbm.

Ive always had components and at least 2 subs for the bass. Its amazing the things you do when you get bored lol. You doing a great job and keep up the good work bro!
I have that shallow sub.. no regular speaker can match to it lol. This thing can handle a lot of power.
I got 2 pioneer 10’s shallow mount in my truck 400rms. Running a 375 rms amp. After a month of breaking them and cranked everything up. Sound so clean and hard bass, you can’t tell thier shallow mounts.

If you can get infinity kappa 6x9s and a cheap 4x150watt amp, you can really make a nice high sq system for your car and still keep it relatively simple.

I've heard the CDT HD-690CF.2 6x9 subs and they were pretty decent. Very dependant on the install tho. Might be a good one to test. Not great for just dropping in a stock system, as they do need an amp to power them properly. Been a big fan of CDT for a long time.
They are a good company, I like their door speakers and tweeters, I had their HD M6+ since 2013 they sound great in a 3way set up

@@arcticblack3764If given the recommended 300 watts, the Rockville subs will be louder than the CDT subs, but in a rear deck application, the CDT's sensitivity and coil inductance will allow it to dig a little deeper with less effort. The CDT may be cleaner and sound a little better but the Rockville subs will sound and thump more like a good 8" or 10" sub, especially in free air. Waiting on installing mine in the rear deck of my Bonneville with an older infinity kappa four, will try to return with results on how they sound

issue here to consider.... the box the sub is in may be the correct size / internal volume of space to allow that 10 sub to sound its best. The 6x9s are free air response design so they are engineered to try and sound good im a wide range of enclosure sizes from small enclosure to the trunk of a car. Like trying to build a shoe that fits a size 6 to 13 foot. you would need to get the specs from the manufacturer then calculate the optimum sized and box design. Only then would this be an apples to apples comparison.
It's usually 1 - 1.2 cubic feet and a tune of 50 Hz

Yes thanks you, i want a sub but got a small car so was thinking of some decent 6x9s in a box in the trunk, instead of a sub and just hooking up to the stock radio. Keep it simple with 2 ohm 6.5in on the doors and connected together to a 2 ohm 6x9 in the trunk for a total of 8 speakers all together, a 6.5 and 6x9 on each channel for a total of 4 ohms and decent bass at normal listening volume cause my jbl 6.5in already sound decent alone but i want that kick that 6x9s deliver
The 6x9s will give you sound frequents up to about 50 hz and the sub is 50 below

I had 2 Hertz competiton 6x9s in boxes, run off of a 400 watt Pheonix Gold Titanium amp in my 91 Jeep Cherokee. People thought i had subs in there.
Great comparison. Good option for daily driver where you dont want to give up any space to a sub box.

i have 2 jbl gx963 on my back plate honda accord 2007 and i connected a 12inch pioneer subwoofer to compare them and the 6x9 jbl speakers have much more bass and way accurate.
ofc my whole trunk and back plate is sound deadened for maximum performance.
Instead of Kappa.... test two Rockville RVL69W.....mid bass+lows...once you ever tested....I just loved them...🥰🥰🥰
I'm venting my 6x9 boxes then screwing in nonn power crossovers detaching the tweeter wires connecting that to the crossover then the main speaker wire plug in then screwing the song speakers in the box

Good demo. It just doesnt' make sense as to why 6x9s don't make good bass. I've tried them myself and they just can't do what a sub can. It sucks because 6x9s look cool and can make some great sound quality.
6x9 is the cheapest way to get good sound without an amplifier. But if u want better bass amp and subwoofer is the way to go

Ok but what about the Rockville 6*9 sub. Those are meant for lows like that 10". I know what your trying to compare here I get it I love using 6*9 speakers to get as much musical bass as possible. But...... Will you please compare two Rockville 6*9 against that 10" or even a single 12"
I have 2 in my rear deck with a db11 and am not disappointed. Edit: my trunk is VERY well sealed, like an infinite baffle.

@@SDS-1 i have a JBL dvc 12 in my ft50 extended cab in a sealed box wired for two ohms and an amp capable of 300 watts rms at 2 ohms. The 2 Rockville 6x9's sound as good if not better. I did have to add 2 layers of dyna mat to the deck which is aluminum. As well as a dense foam pad cut to fit under the carpet. Unbelievable how low they hit. My 2005 Lincoln LS came with the 6x9 subs in the deck from the factory with THX audio system. The surrounds had disintegrated.

I like this. I have jbl system in my doors but is looking just for a little more bass. Dont want to rattle my car. I have a option of going JBL 6x9 or 8 inch JBL. I dont want extreme bass. Just want cinema quality sound with nice bass.
Mike I need more videos seriously bro your channel would be huge if you do videos again I remember when your subs were under 10k syour videos are like no other in the car audio it answers alot of questions and I believe like you alot of companies not just car audio spend all there cash on advertising etc not r&d while other companies are cheap no advertisements and good r&d there's amazing products for cheap but unfortunately kinda have to do what you have done and buy alot to figure it out. Those infinity 6x9s are not for bass they are a great sounding 6x9 but on full range output on the amp not on low output they are 3way the tweet and mid gonna burn out but there is a subwoofer 6x9 out there but not those
Anybody trying to get base out of a door speaker is slightly unintelligent lol. Sound quality can be amazing but it’s just not in the cards.

This is the absolute worst comparison I've seen. You cannot possibly believe this is an accurate test.
1) no, the pioneer is not "entry level". Rockville is entry level. Crunch is entry level. Pioneer is a great brand. Maybe not SPL grade, but they are solid.
2) that soon is in a box that is correct size and volume. But, you have the 6x9s in tiny boxes with almost no airspace. Everyone knows 6x9 speakers are designed for free air and require major air volume to produce the lows they are capable of. I.e.a trunk. Not a little tiny box. This is a terrible comparison and you should know better.
3) on the video, (yes I realize it's probably just your mic) the 10 sounds blown and you can hear it rattling as such, and the 6x9s actually sounds better.
This video shows literally nothing useful to anyone who understands car audio parameters in the real world.

A quality pair of amped 6x9’s will beat a cheap >500w 1x12 any day.
How about the Rockville?
The Rockville 6x9 subs are muddy sounding at best. They are affordable tho. Their K6 sub line is decent for the money. No real issues with those burning coils like the K9s. I've tried their 6.5" pro audio speakers in a pinch. They are ok, but not impressive as they lack any midbass punch in the 100hz area. Above about 300hz they sound ok and handle vocals and acoustic music reasonably well in the upper mid-range.
What a shallow compression. You cannot compare a subwoofer vs coaxial speakers which one give you better bass.. in your logic we can compare subwoofer vs coaxial speakers for best treble. Why can you compare both because human ear can hear 20hz to 20khz. Most sensitivity between 800hz to 3.5khz. if you listen 30w music you listen only 1-2 watts treble and medium, rest of it is bass. So the comparison is total failure..
The 6x9 you have are not subwoofers they do how ever make 6x9 woofers
