  • With over 100,000 reported cases last year, job scams are escalating rapidly, according to the Federal Trade Commission, doubling in frequency over the past four years. Americans faced nearly $500 million in losses due to these scams. LinkedIn’s career expert, Catherine Fisher, sheds light on this alarming trend.

    I beg to disagree about the purpose of multiple rounds of interviews - it is designed to cover up the lack of real jobs, give bloated HR depratments work, while feeding their egos with legions of desperate candidates trying and second guessing themselves, what should have they done betters, where did it go wrong, etc. And all for the jobs that either do not even exist, or were already fixed. Its like a modern version of X-factor. Such a waste of valuable human capital.

    A HUGE tip from someone who has been in the design industry for YEARS. DO NOT DO FREE WORK FOR A JOB POST. If social media, UA-cam, etc is your thing and you do it well you have links and a portfolio. You are not a multi-million dollar agency with lawyers. If the hiring manager can't accept your portfolio move on. There are places that will post these job listings and then use the ideas they collect. You ask each designer to do 5 sample designs and you have just 10 applicants--- you have 50 weeks (or more) worth of content. DO NOT give your work away for free.

    How dumb is someone to offer their financial information to a "recruiter"? Do people actually fall for this? I know there are lots of pig butchering scams out there, but this is painfully obvious.

    I get a lot of spam emails for scam job offers for jobs all over the country that have absolutely no relevance to any skills that i may or may not have posted on any resumes. They all have the same format, they're all from "The number 1 recruiting firm" in India, and they never want to tell you specifically who the client is they're trying to hire for, or what the pay is.

  • @Steven-xf8mz
    @Steven-xf8mz 3 місяці тому

    Clearly this linkedin lady doesn't know how hiring works.
    No Job should involve an employee to buy or wire anything out of their bank account.
    No Job should require you to provide ssn and other identification unless you're already working, typically you can provide these info like within 2 weeks of your job for payroll.
    1. you don't wire out or buy anything.
    2. you don't provide identification other than what you normally would on a resume.
    3. you don't dl things (this is related to potential cyber attack).

      There's absolutely nothing worse than when you call customer service and it's that incredibly annoying tagalog accent. Always polite but usually clueless, after waiting on hold for 40 mins. My staff now hangs up the phone once they hear the accent and then call back hoping to get an American next time! Never mind the chickens and the screaming goats in the background!!!
