But no matter how reported this or said something, they still sold them. The bottom line was more important than the health of the customers, and employees.
You know whom knowingly import them for US consumers for profit. lol. Wake me up when the people who made these are also the ones selling to US consumers. Manufacturers are only producing things based on their client demands, they're not at fault unless manufacturers promised and delivered different items. Where is the lead coming from Why do such items have lead in them at all?? Imagine the hazards to the workers in the factories that make these items that are exposed day in and day out.
Have you noticed a lot of the metal components on those bags and accessories have a "weight" to them that gives a more expensive feel. That's probably where the lead is. I'm sure it's on the metal components found on women's clothing as well. That's how they can make it feel luxury while still selling it for so cheap

If faux leather has lead, then we have big problems for all the cars that might have seats made of it and all the furniture that people have in their homes and sitting on.
@@JennRighter Agreed. I was just expanding on the faux leather, but I could go all day talking about countless other things that either contain lead, or other toxic chemicals, or byproducts. For example, not only does Faux leather contain lead, it can contain arsenic, cadmium, chromium, etc. Furthermore, synthetic leather is a PVC and polyurethane polymer, the bad kind that are endocrine disrupters. So not only do you get exposed to toxic metals, you get exposed to things like Bisphenol A,S,F, etc (BPA/phthalates) We live in a wonderful society where we sleep and sit on toxic materials, use products made of toxic materials, consume foods with toxic ingredients/amounts, packaged inside of toxic packaging, and come home to take showers with a toxic water supply, and go back to bed to start the process over again. Then as we all get cancer and illness, we are all told “it’s genetic”, and we are sold on the concept of pumping toxic radioactive chemicals throughout our body with the hope of the slight chance that it will fix everything. Our whole lives we not only pay, but pay a premium, to slowly kill ourselves, then pay even more to finish the job, with all our bank accounts completely sucked dry. All while all the corporations and medical industry laugh their way to their bank, just to continue moving into the next victim.

Omg!!! Two years ago I bought a purse from Ross. As I drove with it and went home I kept having a headache out of nowhere. As I excitedly checked out my new purse I read on the tag that it had a California warning that it could be toxic!!! I intuitively KNEW my headache was from the purse. I immediately went back and returned it and insisted I speak to the manager to tell them it shouldn’t be allowed in stores!!!!!
That manager doesn’t get to decide things like that, think for like 5 seconds. If you really cared you would have written an email. You sound like a Karen.
Well vinyl has a toxic smell. It wasn't the lead unless you were sucking on it. And California propositions are on everything everywhere for the last 10 years or more 😅
Why? CHINA! they are selling cheap chinese items (Temu is full of lead too) so of course, these are non-brand items that are just bought wholesale from Chinese manufacturers
I wouldn’t be surprised if mid price and high end products have as much toxicity. Those producers just have bigger margins, they aren’t necessarily investing in sustainability or ethically sourced material
Yes they add it. So when you buy your kids toys make sure your buy the authentic ones from a retailer in the USA. They makes sure that the toy paints don’t have lead in them.
Yeah that's a really good question. Surely these products aren't just sold at Burlington and Ross for less. I wish they would have addressed your question of are they purposely putting lead in items or how is it getting there in the first place? With China you never know. I've heard it's really polluted. Maybe it's just in the air?
3M makes a lead-check pen. I don't know why the newscasters didn't mention it. Perhaps because items from ALL stores are full of lead. How many of those brands are brands that are made for the specific stores? This is a common practice and the store is responsible because they could have paid more and specified clean production.
Tiffany's got me, I had to return 300.00 sterling silver ball earrings. The ear stem was not real caused pus in lobes. Yes, the teal box store. I was done with them.. 😮
Nothing new. I purchased a purse from Ross and when I made it home their was a tag on the inside of the purse that said, "This Purse May Cause Cancer".
How does lead get into the products in the first place? When you think about manufacturing and the fact that if there is lead, it is in every step of the way of materials and manufacturing and resale. That's a lot of lead exposure. There used to be lead paint and they still sweat copper pipes with lead, but that is probably better than plastic pex pipe. We need a whole mini documentary explaining where this lead comes from.
Annoying, because we know where it's coming from. It was stupid that she said we can wash our hands after touching the product but if people are wearing the product for hours or using a contsminated purse, all the items in your purse will become contaminated! So how on EARTH will washing our hands help?? DUH! Need to boycott, that's all 😐
I’ve seen disclaimers on all of Marshall’s/Burlington/Ross products that the items contain chemicals that might cause cancer and needs to be disclosed in the state of California. Now I see why, people need to start boycotting everything made in china. The other day one of my kids who’s only one year old was putting a woman’s wallet in her mouth that was in the shopping cart at Ross. I feel so bad and guilty about it now. Lead is super bad for children. We need to start doing better people and start paying attention to what these corporations are doing. We need to start holding them accountable and make them pay for poisoning us and our children.
I would think the major department stores are the same, Macy’s, JCPennys, etc because places like Ross get their previous year’s products or irregulars
All those items are being sold coming from mainland China 🇨🇳 so yeah, until we stop accepting items from Chinese factories that do not comply with safety regulations, they shouldn't be sold in the United States at all.
That’s why you shouldn’t buy cheap products. If you have the money, buy from expensive stores . Expensive is usually better quality and your clothes last longer. Be allergic to cheap.
Because there are tons of plastic products getting thrown away and eventually crushed up, tiny bits get into water and eventually the ocean. This includes polyester thread (which is in virtually all clothes), plastic buttons, and plastic printed designs on t shirts.

Its probably made in china. They found clothes with waste material that were made in china. Other things before were recalled because they found paint with lead dog food with lead and it was made in china.
Curious…How long does one have to be holding one of these items for the lead to seep into their skin and become toxic? Are they eating these belts and handbags?? We might as well shut the whole world down if we have to worry about the metals and chemicals that are found in our items.

And it’s not the first time.
This doesn't surprise, because the one retail I worked at, we were clearly instructed to not take the plastic off the bags and jewelry until you were ready to put them on the shelf, because if you touched the bling on it for too long, you got green coloring on your skin.

It's like if you company had an illegal protocol, and you followed company policy unknowingly, you're unlikely liable as you were representing your employer based on guidance received from your employer.
If more people actually hold greedy companies at fault instead of driving blame to dozens of cheap oversea countries, perhaps we may get something other than politically motivated comment about somewhere.
Everything we buy is made overseas where there are no controls over such things.

Don’t blame the stores who have no or very limited resources to test every product they sell. The problem is mass import of cheap goods from China.
Because Ross and Burlington are small businesses, and i mean no store should ever be held accountable for anything that they sold 😂😂😂😂get the F out of here.
@@JohnJohnsonSrIII They both should be held accountable, at the site of import, there should be testing for hazardous chemicals and if something far exceeds acceptable levels goods should be sent back by border patrol and the stores need to be held accountable. Have you noticed a lot of the metal components on those bags and accessories have a "weight" to them that gives a more expensive feel. That's probably where the lead is. If faux leather has lead, then we have big problems for all the cars that might have seats made of it and all the furniture that people have in their homes and sitting on.
It’s not just faux leather. It’s everything.
@@JennRighter
Agreed.
So not only do you get exposed to toxic metals, you get exposed to things like Bisphenol A,S,F, etc (BPA/phthalates)
We live in a wonderful society where we sleep and sit on toxic materials, use products made of toxic materials, consume foods with toxic ingredients/amounts, packaged inside of toxic packaging, and come home to take showers with a toxic water supply, and go back to bed to start the process over again.
@@DunnsDayDashA sad truth beautifully said. 🙏🏻

That's scary, these things shouldn't be up for sale, and some people say that warning is nothing to worry about 🙄
They put those labels on everything lol. You were just inhaling chemicals left over from the purse.
Thank you!
Americans yells "move production to Vietnam" and here is your products from Vietnam. Enjoy
I wouldn’t be surprised if mid price and high end products have as much toxicity. Those producers just have bigger margins, they aren’t necessarily investing in sustainability or ethically sourced material
Americans never yelled anything!! Companies wanted CHEAP labor@@Peizxcv
I am still going to shop at Ross dress for less...lead in the water, in the food ... what's the difference? At this point.
Curious why the lead levels are so high. Do they go out of their way to add it in?
It is in the materials, shiny stuff, and paint. China has less regulations than U.S.
We're eating it .and breathing it .we can't win
This is why i never lick peoples wallets.
3M makes a lead-check pen. I don't know why the newscasters didn't mention it. Perhaps because items from ALL stores are full of lead.
How many of those brands are brands that are made for the specific stores? This is a common practice and the store is responsible because they could have paid more and specified clean production.
Didn't they discontinue them?
Very good point!
Interesting!
It shouldn't be all that hard to find who is adding lead to the products.
Quality not quantity. Stop shopping
So we can ban TikTok but not toxic levels of lead?
Tiffany's got me, I had to return 300.00 sterling silver ball earrings. The ear stem was not real caused pus in lobes. Yes, the teal box store. I was done with them.. 😮

Don't be ridiculous how is china supposed to get rid of all of their toxic chemicals if they can't put them in all of our products? 😂

Please don’t lick your handbags.
Nothing new. I purchased a purse from Ross and when I made it home their was a tag on the inside of the purse that said, "This Purse May Cause Cancer".
That's in everything. Its just the chemicals.
I couldn't agree more!
It could have happened at the source, where the so called "branded" items are manufactured .
But she won't say what they've been doing to our food. Speak on how they've been poisoning that too.
Made in China!!
Who's fault is that? You do know just about everything you purchase is from somewhere else?
Annoying, because we know where it's coming from. It was stupid that she said we can wash our hands after touching the product but if people are wearing the product for hours or using a contsminated purse, all the items in your purse will become contaminated! So how on EARTH will washing our hands help?? DUH! Need to boycott, that's all 😐
Back to the Thriftstore. 😂😂😂
Lead is there
I’ve seen disclaimers on all of Marshall’s/Burlington/Ross products that the items contain chemicals that might cause cancer and needs to be disclosed in the state of California.
I guess that warning is serious after alll
Yall, that California proposition warning is in every store alive, even target😅. Its cali law.

Lmfao what a crazy matrix we live in. This has been going on and theyre just putting this out there😂😂😂.
Why would lead NEED to be in clothes, purses and shoes?
I would think the major department stores are the same, Macy’s, JCPennys, etc because places like Ross get their previous year’s products or irregulars
The report includes enough information for people to freak out, but not enough for customers to take action. Great reporting!
That’s mainstream media!
All those items are being sold coming from mainland China 🇨🇳 so yeah, until we stop accepting items from Chinese factories that do not comply with safety regulations, they shouldn't be sold in the United States at all.
Why is this on the retailer not the manufacturer?
And what about the chemicals in our food and water. Uncle Sam could care less if it's in leather.
That’s why you shouldn’t buy cheap products. If you have the money, buy from expensive stores . Expensive is usually better quality and your clothes last longer. Be allergic to cheap.
