I've been to the Australian Oktoberfest in Melbourne and they were serving all the beers in plastic 375ml cups. I had got my $80 ticket to the event just so I could drink from proper 1L steins. I guess that would be a safety hazard in Australia. No comparison.

It‘s actually kinda sad seeing him drinking so unhinged with all the beer running down left and right. Unless you are partying, beer is typically just seen as a normal part of your meal in Germany. And you should therefore consume it with the same table manners as with normal beverages. You want to actually enjoy it.

For a certain style one could say Czech Republic or Belgium, but thats it and Germany has the most variety by far worldwide which is why people talk about german beer a lot. With microbrews every country has great beers and there are no winners or losers. "Germany beers are not he best" is a fools statement though since taste is different and due to the biggest variety of beers worldwide in Germany you can find something amazing for every taste and that with big breweries and not micro brews. If you like beers you will find something in an avarage grocery store in Germany no matter the region of the country and you will put it in the top 10 best beers you have ever had.
