Failure should be embraced honestly because the fear of failure is failure in itself. If you keep saying oh I don't want to do it because I might not get it, you'll end up not doing it and that's worse because you'll regret your decision, thoughts of "had I known" will fill up your mind.

You described my corporate life just about to a T! I struggled in my last two years at my corporate job and was just waiting for them to fire me, I kept holding on even though I knew I didn’t belong there, until I had major panic and anxiety attacks, took a medical leave, found my blissful new job during that medical leave and now I’m combining my passions in my day job along with my social media endeavors. This video was fabulous, everyone needs to hear this no matter what they’re going through in life. I am constantly learning that failure is ok, if not essential to our personal growth, so long as we choose to learn from it. Love your videos, keep it up!
That last tip on failure about alotting time to grieve failure was so insightful. I have been through traumatic things in my life which has caused me to develop depression. Even when I was no longer going through tough times, this depression would leak into parts of my life that wasn’t traumatic or sad. I wondered why I couldn’t get out of a funk when nothing was going wrong in my life. I knew that I had become so attached and comfortable in my depression but I didn’t know what to do. I knew I had to detach from those feelings, but it was difficult when I had essentially made it a habit to stay stuck in negativity. This tip actually is so useful because I make sad things bigger than it needs to be. And staying stuck in negativity builds the negativity muscle in your brain. If I chose to only grieve something for a specific period of time, it will help lessen the energy spent on negativity which could be used for something more productive like trying to become a happier person.
You also mentioned leaning into the messy. I thought this was so helpful because I too am a perfectionist. I think especially when it comes to relationships I feel like if someone doesn’t perfectly check all my boxes from the get-go I don’t give them the time of day. I don’t proceed with a relationship because I am too scared of it failing. But you are right Bria, life is f’ing messy and it’s unrealistic to not fail sometimes. So I really should embrace the messy and accept the failures that may come out of it. Girl you really are the bestie ❤ thank you for ur wisdom!!!! This is going to be so helpful. I’ve been looking for answers for so long. I feel like I can finally move on.

I feel like this video was made for me. This week I lost money due to airline scams. My credit card declined when I promised someone I could pay for something. Someone made a comment about black women and wanted me to validate that and that set me in a doubtful place about who I am as a black woman bc I didn't know how to respond. I'm starting my business and I can feel that money anxiety and doubt affect how I show up. I'm trying to embrace these moments as lessons. It can just be so overwhelming. I did take that bath! Thanks for the perspective.

Idk I feel like I fit nowhere and am untalented and slow. Trying to work on that mentality but when i feel I don’t hit those standards, I work much slower. And now it’s cripppling the fear of failure and it sinks my mental health. Im hoping it’s all redirection to where I’m meant to be.

This is me! I had a tarot business that I thought was going to do great but I got tired and sick to the point I didn’t feel like doing it anymore. And I indeed feel into a hole of failure because it didn’t go as planned. Now seeing this video makes me want to get back up again. Thank u😊❤

I have a licensing exam coming up in a month, and failing it seems like it would be the end of the world for me. But I’m at a point where I’m realizing- it’s not about if failure will happen to me, but WHEN.
Obviously I don’t want the test to be, but I’m also taking steps to plan if I do. It has taken a lot of weight off my shoulders and makes me honestly a little more confident.

I think an important thing to remember is people who hate on you for trying are the same people who are terrified to try anything themselves. No one who is feeling good in their lane wastes energy dwelling on someone else’s journey. I’d rather be trying and learning in the arena than booing from the sidelines any day 👏

You know what, you've helped me put failing something in perspective. It wasn't that big a deal that you had a failed podcast in the grand scheme of things and me failing in front of a few friends is even less of a deal!
