Repacking motorcycle mufflers

  • I pulled the baffles out of my Road King and removed the packing from around them about a month ago. I put the baffles back in and while it was louder, it was a bit louder than my ears like and I was experiencing decell pop at an annoying level. Lesson learned. If it aint broke, dont fix it. I removed the baffles, repacked them and reinstalled them. Its a very quiet bike now, and I'll just live with it. If I only have two options, too loud, or too quiet, I choose too quiet.

    Great job, good thing you are mechanically inclined and know what to do to get the results you want. Truckers dictionary, lol. You need a camera set up to watch your gate and mailbox it looks like, bacon thieves are all around. It’s been raining and windy here too. Y’all take care and be safe!

    Fuelpak tuner is one solution. Slip on’s with the tuner is an option. Always enjoy your videos!

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  3 роки тому +1

      I’d like to avoid a tuner if I can. This is fuel injected so the fuel map will compensate for minor changes in intake or exhaust. I’m gonna just live with a whispering Harley.

      @@bctruck I changed my exhaust, and air cleaner. Many people said that I would have to remap. I didn't want to pay for the tuner but did. I've been happy with my Vance and Hines FP tuner. It works from my iPhone and that's pretty cool. I choose the Bassani 2 into one system and I love that as well. It's a fun thing to change our motorcycles to fit our desire.
      I am the same age as you and have a couple of health issues so I empathize with your pains. One thing that would be good for us is a motorcycle lift table. That would keep us off the ground. I only have carports, and I don't have a shed so it's really not an option for me. Ride safe, and keep on riding brother!

    Those grips are for electronic throttle. Check inside the throttle grip for a star type shape. It turns the potentiometer for newer bikes. If they are listed for her year the listing is wrong.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  3 роки тому +2

      I contacted the seller. They are listed wrong. They show the correct grip in the picture, the description is correct for the year,but the part number is for a fly by wire. They are refunding my money and sending me the correct grips.

    I've never owned a Harley (yet), but one thing I've never understood is why do people constantly rev them at red lights/stop signs (some people on sport bikes do too)? Are they tuned to where they can't hold an idle? Or, is it a "look at me" type thing? I get that "loud pipes save lives", but seems that many folks over do it (if there isn't an underlying idle issue). Hopefully your bacon comes soon....Mmmmm...Bacon 🥓 🥓 🥓 🥓

      They build bikes to fit the largest segment of society. If your stature falls much outside the group they make them for, it takes a lot of parts to accommodate a small rider.
