thanks so much senior we all learn from each other but at least I've got some few things from you at least and i cant fail to give you a credit in what ever ur doing man however i would like to know what rate of contactor and relays would be used in an automatic change over switch of about 250amps because currently i am using manual change over of 200amps please have some time and explain also in big power consumption, thank you so much once again for such an educative channel.
Thanks very much for the lectures but after this how am I going to have the control diagram and the other thing if I can be out of what you are explaining where do you connect the wire from from the device to the generator to star outomaticaly without the manual rope dracking position?.
Thanks for watching ..... That depends on the type of the generator you have... or the generator need to have the capability to start automatically....... This video has circuit diagram at the end...... See if it helps. Then come back to me.
In most cases We switch power between 2 sources, the utility and backup(like generator). This is why you will have 2 contactor. You can use 3 contactor if you have 2 backup power(like gen set and solar) Were your utility power goes off and the priority backup fails, then second one comes.
Thank you very much for lecture. What I want to know is that, I need a control diagram of Automatic change over (ATS) that can start generator on its own with any manual operation. When the main power fail the generator should come ON Automatically without any operator then when main restore power its should send signals to the generator in order stop. Please any knowledge about let me know OK. My regard to you Alicious Alpha Kamara. From Sierra Leone
@@electreca1 Still waiting for this video. Also what if I dont want a delay - for a backup that has Lithium or AGM batteries and a load of Internet Modems that I want an immediate 20millisecond switch from mains to backup, do I still need these timers?
Thanks so much for this video. please how do you size these components especially the contactors, the relays and the total size of an ATS, assuming there 3 sources? utility, Gen 1 - 150kva and gen 2 - 100kva gen. Thank you
Thanx for the question........... I don't know how much you know about this .... but THE 2 CABLES GOES TO NORMALLY CLOSED OF THE MAIN RELAY.. tell me if this answers your question.
Very informative. I’m a woodworking guy, and a novice in electrical automation. I am trying to automate my shop vac filter cleaning. I have a 2kw 220V shop vac, and a small 200W motor that runs the filter cleaner. I start and stop the shop vac with a remote controller. Today I run the shop vac filter cleaner manually. I would want to run it automatically with a time delay, such that it starts 5 sec after shut down of shop vac, and runs for 10-15 sec, and then shuts down. This repeats after ech time I use the shop vac. Do I need a full set of interlocking contactors, relay and timers to ackomplish my goal? Can you gaide me, or better still, could I ask you to create a UA-cam video on this topic, as I am sure I am not the only one struggling with this task.
Looked at your video and suggest you learn more about this subject matter. The drawing at the end seems incomplete - need more information to best understand its dynamics. You indicated if both circuits came on together will cause a short circuit, as surely being same power value works like parallel batteries? Yes, we can connect both the mains and generator together as power station does it daily. That's providing they are synchronised first as both supply phase angles difference can be catastrophic.
That's very dangerous, it will be burn the Changeover switch most likely all the installation, the alternator(generator) will burn..........BUT it really had for all of the above to happen.... Because in the Changeover switch there is a protection( interlock) which locks out the contactor (which is out of phase) both electrically and mechanically. Meaning Both contactor can never engage at the sane time.
Already made changeover switches can really expensive......from as low as 40k to 300k. now that price is determined by the rating, brand and mode of control... but custom made can at least cheaper than already made one.

Is possible to use only one timer in an automatic changeover switch?
It's good to have timers at both side, but if have one then use it on generator circuit.
Good lecture, looking forward for the circuit diagram
How do you connect battery charge with the ats

Thank you for your lecture which is good for me too

how do u you connect a signal cable to start the generate for the case of this change over you have made

yes
