Then in 95' the heartbreak finally ended, when the Huskers defeated a top-notch Cane team, that featured Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp, respectively. I believe the Canes are scheduled to play Nebraska in Lincoln, come the 2014 season. Tyler Harrington right backatcha brother. Canes fan here, but I miss CFB before all the realignment. By the way I'm a gambler and made a lot of money off Nebraska in those days!
I was in High school and weighed 130 pounds and swore That I was going to play for Miami. I was an all city free safety for Flushing High school In New York and thought I was the next Chuck Cecil or Jack Tatum
Gotta give credit to the Canes - that '91 defense was something else, and we obviously couldn't handle it. However, one of my favorite games to watch is the '95 Orange Bowl, as Nebraska plays some D themselves and uses the Power I to wear down the Miami defense led by Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis.
Rusty Medearis was a monster and still is a GREAT guy! I know him pretty well. His knee is completely messed up still, but at 40, he's in great shape and is one of the smartest guys I know. He told me that his talent as a player came from being able to "see" the ball almost before it was snapped. He said he felt like he had a a jump on the O line every play. The fact that he could squat 600 and clean and jerk 320 didn't hurt. Still, it is sad he got hurt. Would have been cool to see what he co
What is Rusty up to now? He is one of my favorite Canes! He would've been a first round pick had he not gotten injured in that game against Arizona! Very sad because he was a monster! He is one Cane that I always wonder what he's up to nowadays!!!
You're right about Arizona in 1992. A 6-5 team in the PAC-12 was a tough opponent, lol. They must have been tough since Miami only beat them 8-7 at home. You are funny dude.
Deceptive record - about mid-season that team's defense just started to click and turned into the Desert Swarm (Teddy Bruschi was the anchor). They upset #1 Washington also at home, so they were not to be taken lightly. The following year, I think they went 10-2 and were a top 10 team.
Another Nebraska team that had no passing game. I remember when the audio went out. We grabbed the Radio, put it on the TV and turned it on. I remember seeing the news the next day. They showed the transformer room that blew out, this was start of the end of the OB.
