@@randallmartin4757 How so? I mean a tie at home is kinda closer to a loss than a win, rite? But I bet OU wishes they could have played FSU vs Miami on their home turrf. Miami cost OU a three peat from 85-87 with wins the last 2 years.

Just a back drop to this game-Jimmy Johnson was an Arkansas assistant before he became a big name and he says in his Bio that he was promised the Arkansas HC job by the Athletic Director. Well Arkansas reneged on the promise and gave it to someone else. Jimmy left for Oklahoma State and later Miami. He states that this win was especially sweet.

At the Time I was unaware of this. Didn't know anyone who did. Always wondered was Arkansas this bad? We were projected to win the SWC. I was shocked to see my Hogs get beaten this bad. I think the whole dang state was. They beat us like we were used to handling next Mexico state!!! I think this is what soured the fan base on ken Hatfield and his flexbone offence. I also postulate this caused Frank to wish he had hired Jimmy. He turned on ken and started to recommend changing the offense and staff and ken stood up to him and said no. Even 2 SWC titles couldn't get the fans and Frank off of ken's case resulting in ken leaving us for Clemson. Anyone agree, disagree?

Jimmy was passed over for the Arkansas job in 84’ for Hatfield. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they humiliated him by bringing him in for an interview after they offered the job to Hatfield. That’s why the players carried him off. This was a revenge game for him. Not against Hatfield. But against Broyles.

We Arkansas fans just got a beat-down that brought us down to earth. The hype leading up to this 87 season was unreal. Picked to win the SWC. 13 returning starters. Greg Thomas was a senior. We i think thought we were an elite program, but we weren't. OU had just curb-stomped us in the Orange Bowl the past Jan 1. We should have known we weren't a blue blood program. Mediocre compitition in the SWC had us thinking we were better than we were.

Pretty certain if you somehow could put truth serum into Jimmy Johnson, he would let you know that he would have kept piling it on to the Hogs here, since Frank Broyles did not hire him out of OSU when the Arkansas job became available a few years before this. Being a Hog alum, guaranteed Johnson did not forget the snub.....
Plus: very, very difficult to run this ‘Flex-bone’ or even the old ‘Wishbone’ against a defense that is just as fast!

During the game Jimmy Johnson kept telling his defense if Arkansas scores 1pt. he was gonna make the team run wind-sprints the entirety of their next parctice. Arkansas scored that touchdown near the end of the game and according to Micheal Irving Monday's practice nothing but wind-sprints, offense, defense, kickers too.

Not only that but when it was something like 51-0 the canes missed a scoring opportunity and Jimmy was going ape shit on the sidelines. The announcer couldn't believe it. Jimmy did the same thing against Notre Dame when he beat them 58-7
He was running up and down the sidelines with a big lead.

And sorry to break this to you but Miami had 5 turnovers in the Fiesta Bowl vs Pedo State which is absolutely the reason they lost the game considering they dominated every statistical category yet only lost by 4 points. And the 1988 Notre Dame game was straight 💩, Cleveland Gary never fumbled that ball. And Saban's is the most boring devoid of personality dynasty in the history of major sports.
