some corrections that have been pointed out - 1. 12:50 Notre Dame played West Virginia, not Florida State (honestly have no clue where I got florida state from) 2. While technically not a correction, throughout the video I refer to the year certain bowl games were played instead of the season the bowls were for, which in hindsight is kind of confusing. Going forwards I'll mainly stick to the season instead.

But, Nebraska back then and likely still to this day gives off tough, workman qualities (power?) opposed to the swagger and fun loving nature of Miami
Insightful documentary about the historic Canes - Sooners rivalry. The best part is seeing how these teams experimented with variations on play formations because they studied their opponent, learning and adapting their their tells, exploitables.

My Dad still isn’t over the 1983 Orange Bowl loss to Miami, but man there’s not a wheelbarrow big enough to hold TO’s balls when he decided to go for 2.
Using the bowl year (January 1 1995) and not the teams actual season (the fall prior in 1994) is the only complaint I have. This was greatness to watch.
My father was a lifelong Hurricanes fan, told me about how before the 1983 orange bowl he made a bet with a classmate that Miami would win. That Nebraska team had been so dominant the other guy gave him a 10 point spread, so he'd have won either way that the 2pt conversion went. He was still glad the Canes won though. Same way with a tie, winning on the spread wouldn't have felt very good at all. Side note nothing but respect for Osborne going for 2, cause who the hell wants a tie?

Our little league football team used that Nebraska formation. I played HBack and would carry the football on jet sweeps. Or get the football thrown to me on deep throws.🏈🙂👌
For me, it all started with that 1984 Orange Bowl. I grew up in the upper Midwest, and you were expected to be a Nebraska fan. THERE SHALL BE NO DISSENT!! The whole culture demanded that you cheer for Nebraska, as they have been deemed the "default" team to cheer for. My friends in high school were shocked and amazed that I actually gave Miami a good chance to win. I was laughed at and ridiculed for thinking that Miami might have a chance against "God's team", the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Well, imagine the next day at high school... Nobody said D!CK to me. And to my credit, yes...I could have rubbed it in. But I didn't. Seeing them all hang their heads, on the verge of tears, was all the validation I needed. That's where my love for Miami began. My hatred for Nebraska came from everyone just assuming that I would be a Nebraska fan, without allowing me to make my own decision. YOU SHALL BE INDOCTRINATED! YOU WILL CHEER FOR NEBRASKA! END OF DISCUSSION! Plus, I saw Tom Osborne as a self righteous, sanctimonious, condescending prick. False humility and false humbleness. For me, he came off as a total and complete phony.
I would LOVE a video on the BCS era as a whole. I grew up in during that time and was naive to all the outside noise surrounding it. Would be cool to really learn how it was perceived and why it was even made
Hey @Empire can you please list the Playlist of Vaporwave songs you included? I love this genre and recognize some songs in my personal playlist. But im other's would like to discover these great tracks too, especially the rare ones 😅❤
I've lived most of my life in Knoxville, so I'm a life long Vols fan. In the autumn of 97 i lived in Wisconsin for the entire season so i only got to see 1 game. The game against Nebraska. Talk about embarrassing 😂😂😂. But it's cool though because 98 was my freshman year at UT, so i got to be there for the undefeated national championship year.
As a lifelong huskers fan if we didn’t have to play them in Miami, we’d have like six or seven national championships that wasn’t fair making us play them on their home field. It wasn’t a fair game if they had to come to Lincoln in January, even Osborne said that one time if they had to play us in Lincoln in January, it would’ve been a different story
What is minimized now but a big deal then: it wasn’t obvious that Nebraska should change its defense. The offense was browning out against Miami and at times FSU. Key was: even good passing offenses stalled against the Canes. But a great D that could rush the passer could stifle Miami’s O.

Georgia Tech and Colorado shared the national championship in 1990 also Miami Hurricanes won the National Championship in 1991. Nebraska Cornhuskers defense when from 5-2 to a 3-4 in 1993.
Lost in the drama of Osborne's decision to go for 2 in the '84 Orange Bowl was his strategic blunder in not going for 2 after the TD that pulled Nebraska to within 31-24. If you make it THERE, it's 31-25 and the next TD & XP wins the National Championship. But if you DON'T make it there, it's 31-23 and you can still go for 2 again after the TD scored by Jeff Smith in the final minute. Make THAT 2-pt conversion, and Nebraska gets an "honorable tie" and wins the National Championship. Osborne gave himself 1 chance to make a 2-pt conversion to win the National Championship. But he _could have_ had TWO chances to make that 2-pt conversion to win the NC. A strategic blunder no matter how you look at it.
