Can This Cynic Be Convinced By A Tuning Box? Ft. 520BHP BMW M4 By TDI Tuning

  • I've never been a big fan of the M4, I think most people know that. So I was very curious when TDI Tuning invited me to try their remapped version, fitted with one of their in house tuning boxes.
    More than a simple sensor defeat, this little device talks to all of the car's sensors to continuously deliver a "remap", but the car never knows it is there. However, I thought the standard car had way too much power and torque - has this just made it undriveable?

    Lots of ppl on here don’t have that box and talk crap like they are some pros , in reality they don’t know what they’re talking talking about ! I just got the box and I’m very impressed!! The extra boost is unreal, I’m even suprised I didn’t expect it to be as good. I remember the good old days, when you would pay perhaps £500 for basic mods on a car and get maybe +5 bhp (if you were lucky), or £2-4k on cams/manifolds/exhaust etc. and get perhaps +30 bhp.

    What an incredible bit of kit. A lot of tuning options can be a bit Halfords, and ruin the looks, sound and driveability of a car (not what you want to do with a lovely M4) The fact that this looks completely standard just adds to the appeal (screw insurance companies!)

    • @davidkennedy1077
      @davidkennedy1077 5 років тому

      @Ron P if it's easily removable I wouldn't bother, insurance companies take the piss (and I've had over 20 years of that!) The only time I've ever had them inspect the car, they didnt turn up for 2 weeks so I would have had plenty of time. Obviously, if it's obvious it's been fitted then tell them, we all know those pricks will wriggle outta paying any way they can.

    • @davidkennedy1077
      @davidkennedy1077 5 років тому

      @Ron P yeah you're right, it's just my experience with insurance companies has never been anything other than a pain in the arse. We've all spent a load of money on insurance and the times that you actually need their help they drag their heels when paying out. I had someone reverse into my car and smashed my door and rear quarter panels in. The insurance company that I claimed against did nothing but mess me about the whole time, with the insurance inspector guy talking to me like I was an idiot. I was fairly young (very early twenties) and was driving a ten year old Astra GTE and he did nothing but slag the car off and seem like he was looking for a way to not pay out. I've crashed before (my fault) and it took them ages to pay out, it was only a cheap second hand motor, so we're not talking big money! Again, they messed me about leaving me with no wheels for way too long as I needed the car for work. I've had plenty of other bad experiences (i can only remember one occasion when they were helpful!) and paid out loads of money to them. They're very quick to take the money, not so quick to help!!!

    • @davidkennedy1077
      @davidkennedy1077 5 років тому +1

      @Ron P yeah, you are right. They just @#$% me off haha!!! With some other young UA-camrs doing crazy mods to cars, doubling standard power etc, I wonder if they declare the mods. That IS insanity, as they often detail EXACTLY what theyve done to their cars and drive like nutters on public roads. I dont think it'll be long until we get the first of these UA-camrs crashing at huge speed into someone killing them (or themselves, or both!) and the police will have all the evidence they need for a conviction on the UA-cam channel.

    • @davidkennedy1077
      @davidkennedy1077 5 років тому

      @Ron P I really enjoy Living, but I can see it ending badly for him one way or the other. Those motors they are belting along in are staggeringly quick, in a different league to me and my mates doing 120-130mph down the motorway (and that was dangerous enough!) These motors must be getting to the 200mph mark, and getting there incredibly quick. It would be a different matter if they were belting down an old airfield or whatever, but this is on public roads with other cars. I've got a wife and 3 kids now, and drive a shitty Focus, but I wouldn't take it kindly if one of these guys plowed into me. The police have nicked people before by IDing the road being raced on, and then timed how long it takes to e.g. go from the bridge to the 3rd lamp post, the coppers go and measure the distance and then it's easy to know pretty accurately how fast these guys were going. As you mention, everyone wants to be UA-cam famous nowadays and are often willing to do very silly things to get there. In my naughty earlier years, we wouldn't dream of filming any silliness because if the law get hold of it you've basically nicked yourself!!! Although a nicking would be better than a fatality.

    Put one on my BMW X3 M40i and noticed absolutely zero difference. I noticed no increase in power, and after driving several 200 miles plus trips on different settings and then with it off fuel mileage was within 1/10 of a gal. So essentially it did nothing. I would love to see someone actually post a real dyno with one of these. I seriously doubt more then 15-20hp if that. About all this can do is increase fuel rail pressure. "Silly straight line antics" perfectly describes this type of pseudo testing. In a world where you often get what you pay for, this £400/100bhp box beggars belief unless accompanied by video inserts of dyno evidence or other product developers data. Frankly, this presentation and its sycophantic references to TDI Tuning cannot but give the impression of desperation for channel content.

    Well, Cletus, even though you're a walking advertisement for Pedigree Chum, this wasn't a dog's dinner. Boom, boom‼️
    On the other hand, with your haute coiffure, you definitely have a whiff of the canine haute cuisine.🐶🐶🐶
    From the way the graphs mirror each other, it looks like they've only increased the fuel flow. More fuel means more torque; power is a product of torque and revs, therefore, more torque at the same revs gives more power. The actual distribution of torque and power are nearly identical.🤔🤔🤔
    It would be instructive to compare fuel consumption between the various "tuning" devises.🧐🧐🧐
    It's a shame that a great channel like yours is being polluted by Brexit buffoons.🤬🤬🤬
