Thanks 🤛 yes it should be very similar. Differences would be if you have/don't have premium sound system which needs a fee exgra wires to be connected. Also if you want to keep steering wheel controls.
Video is good and I have the same vehicle but you totally skipped the part I'm not sure about. I'm not sure where the 2 wires for the factory amp hook up at
I didn't skip on purpose, I just did not have to wire them up. You only need one wire To have your amp turn on. you need to hook up the blue/white wire on both the nee radio harness and adapter harness.
I have a 2003 ford explore sport trac that has 3 harness on the left that plug into the left side of the stock stereo. Are those just eliminated all to together or is there other pig tails that I need to.
I’m having an issue where my radio stays on even after I turn my car off. Year 2000 Ford Explorer Sport. Any idea what color wire is matched incorrectly or shouldn’t be matched?
does it turn off when you open your car door? some vehicles the radio turns off once you open the door and have removed the key from the ignition. otherwise check your yellow and red wires and make sure they are connected correctly. yellow (comstant 12v) is to keep memory, clock settings. red (switched) is what turn on/off the radio when you turn on/off your car
Yes its a 98, this one tho was the eddie bauer eddition. Also depending on submodel and options they will have different radio types. Yes some cars have a double din face but are actually sinlge din.

Well it depends, I don't mind helping with installing electronics with low pricing if I think its enough work and a lot of my time. It also depends on the work itself. Where are you located?
For that, you will need the small commector that has the RCA male ends. It will also have two blue/white wires. Connect the RCA to the sub output on your new HU and both blue/white wires to the remote (amp) turn on on the HU as well. There is only one connector that will match your oem plug.
Great job!! Thanks
thanks 🤛
Very nice breakdown, especially wiring the harnesses. Could I assume the installation would be similar with a double din in a 99' explorer?

Can You help me i have an 05 Explorer i get the stereo yo power up but no sound😅😅! Anyone can help me??!
I have a 99 explorer Eddie Bauer, the last owner change the stereo and he doesnt do the subwoofer connection, how can I do it?
for the oroginal sub to work you will need an adapter that connects to the factory harness and allows to control and power on the sub.
Thanks bud!!!!!!
No problem man👊

@@esqu3l3to thanks for the info. Got it installed and everything works great. Some reason I tiough all eddie bauer explorers had the sub
Right on, not all do so its always good to check.
My 98 limited has the factory sub how do I wire up the harness so that still works
@@nickmartinez4102 do you have Metra 70-5517?
Thats the wiring kit adapter I used. It keeps the factory amp and sub working

red (switched) is what turn on/off the radio when you turn on/off your car
Does this also apply to a 2001 ford explorer?
It should apply yes, best way to know for sure is to enter your vehicle info in a online shop like metra online or sonix

Are you sure that's a 1998? Mine looks nothing like that, and my radio/cd player is double height at the front but single height at the rear.

@@esqu3l3to Yes my Eddie Baur has a power antenna but the harness I ordered does not have a blue w/white stripe wire. The harness that came with the new radio does have blue w/white stripe wire
They are not always blue/white, check for a solid blue wire.

Send me a picture or link of the harness you bought, also what year is your Eddie Baur?
Should this be the same for the 02 explorer sport 2 door?
Possible but not sure to be honest
Probably similar but not exact, this model Explorer ran from 1997--2001
Yep but OP has a more premium trim based on the stock radio setup, looks like there’s more there so the area will be bigger
How do I pull the harness for the rear window knob?
Rear window knob?
He is probably taking about a explorer sport trac
does the 2001 ford explorer xls has the same dash kit?
It might but not sure, your best way to find out is to enter your Fords info at metra or scosche and see the actual part number you would need.
as in Canada?
Yup this is a Canadian model
