  • How to install and custom fit this double din head unit in a Ford Ranger. The same procedure can also be used on the Mazda B series trucks from the same generation. The head unit I am using is a Pumpkin double din 7 inch touchscreen with an Android 8.0 interface that also has gps navigation, bluetooth, wifi, and a back up camera. Therefore this tutorial will also include how to install the gps antenna, bluetooth microphone, wifi antenna and back up camera. #fordranger #android #caraudio

    I’ve watched 6 videos on how to install a Double Din stereo system in my 1997 Ford Ranger. Your video is hands down the best instructional video, but I still think I’m going to need a professional do this instal for me. Thank you anyhow.

    I got more out of this video than the many I have seen over the last couple of days. Your work and instructions are on a professional level not seen on many videos. I wanted to know how to do it right in my B4000, and you nailed it.
    And that unit is exactly what I want. Android, Navi, backup, WiFi, etc.at a very good price. I don't care about a CD/DVD player in my truck.
    Thank you for showing me how the Pros to it.

    What a fantastic job! My 1990 F250 radio lost its display and finally broke after 30 years, also the dash is falling apart, plastic is brittle. So until I can find a nice replacement I am going to modify the original to fot a double din Android unit. Just like you I am using solder and quality wiring.

    Wow, great work, very nice looking result. I'm not sure how I feel about touch stereos myself, they seem really useful but at the same time I'm worried about quality, and how distracting it could be compared to a much simpler factory radio. I'm curious if you've personally found it to be more distracting while driving, or if it's actually not that big a deal?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  5 років тому +1

      Thank you for the kind words! I wouldn't think it'd be more distracting, I haven't driven with it too much yet. But I've had animated screen in my pioneer deck years ago (not sure if you remember the models, used to have the dolphins swimming, waves, car racing, etc), I never had any issues. Then again I've never been the type to use my phone while driving either, even when it was legal. I think it depends on the person.

    • @AricVogel
      @AricVogel 5 років тому

      @@4DIYers Oh yeah I'm the same way with phones and driving, I've always avoided it if possible (on occasion I glance at my phone for the GPS or to see the caller ID, but that's all). I'll also admit that the newer Dodge touch nav radios kind of impressed me, I had one in a rental and to my surprise I didn't find it much more distracting than a normal radio.

    • @jbrou123
      @jbrou123 5 років тому +1

      If you think this is distracting, take a look at the display on a Tesla 3. It is 15" monitor to the right of the steering wheel that shows everything that is normally displayed on the dash. All gauges and function are shown on that monitor. No more just glancing down to check you speed, you have to look to your right. Not that I am in the market for a Tesla, but that would be a deal beaker. I'm old school, I guess.

      It's required here by law if a vehicle is inspected to be put on the road. These regulations will vary depending on where you're located. Yes you can lease it out if you wish but keep in mind, if you're pulled over by the police or for a highway inspection, you do risk getting a ticket if it's a law in your area.

      I didn't include a link as different years require different harnesses. While the dashboards and radios are very similar between the 3rd gen Rangers and up, there are different harnesses. Audio suppliers such as Best Buy should carry a harness or even Walmart and some auto parts stores.

      Seems like they changed the website since I did the install. I don't believe this model is sold anymore, seems like it has been replaced with the 8.0 version.
