Nobody can compare, outlaw is thrown around but this man was a hell raiser with a good soul. He did what he wanted to do whether his wife said no, his agent, his band, sometimes even when God told him not to and we can all relate we have that rebel in us but Waymore embraced it and used it as a weapon. In the dictionary outlaw should have a picture of Waylon with his tele.
Since I was a little girl,I have had a huge rush on Waylon! My parents were musicians, and were playing at a big tavern,in Montana, sometime 61,I think..Dad got me the leather cup to play "hORSE',a dice game. He left to talk to the manager, and I was at the bar. I was just 7 or 8. I saw a man sitting two stools from me,and he was soo handsome. He looked over at me and said "Well,ya cant play alone." and he moved to the stool next to me and we played dice for a while. Dad came out, shook hands with him, snatched me up,and we want out to the car and left. The man who played dice with me was Waylon Jennings. I'll never forget.
i listen to alot of different music...from classic to hip hop.......but one artist.... I love out of all that is Waylon...I dont think history really does him justice yet but it will....his music is time spanding not many artist can do that . its honest , american, and just plan ole good ole boy music.!!!
+Jerome Johnson Unfortunately pop culture only remembers Waylon for his work on the Dukes of Hazzard. The guy had great arrangement skills, guitar skills, one of the best voices ever in the business and a catalog of great songs a mile deep. The same hipster that says he likes Johnny Cash overlooks Waylon.
Me too. I love Italian opera and American jazz and soul and Irish traditional and blues and all sorts... but god damn it no playlist is complete without Waylon. Lots of Waylon.

This guy is one of the very best I've heard for a while. Well, I'm not form the US, not even from America but love this kind of music. Damn, now I can't imagine living without it. What's more for me personally - Waylon looks just like my grandfather when he was a bit younger ;)
Waylon does not need any nods accolades or silly nicknames, he's Waylon, that's enough ... apreciate the comment though... I pray that he will never be commercialised ad nauseam like so many were ,the best kept secret in US music let's keep it that way...RIP Hoss
waylon is the best, period.my dad bought his first album way back in the early 60si was only ten years old but i loved him.since i was born and raised in phx my parents and relatives got to see him at jds and mr luckys.my mom was the housekeeper for the owner of jds and waylon autographed acocktail napkin for her.oh waylon that was the good ol days .loveya
When I was a kid dad had a old AM radio in the truck so I took my own money, went to WalMart and bought the old cheap Road Master AM FM cassette with two speakers and by the time I got my drivers license Waylon and I had burned that old radio up I wish he was still here and in good health no telling what he might have come up with. RIP Waylon
Waylon has all the new singers today beat. There is no one like him. It doesn't matter how high he was, he gave his best performance every single time. I wish he was still alive today, but, anyhow, he still is in his music. Love you Waylon Jennings. Rip
Great video. I saw Waylon in concerts in the 70"s & 80"s and with the Highwaymen in 1990. I saw him for the last time in 1992 at a county fair.I heard Waylon for the first time on the radio singing Rainy Day Woman i wanted to buy the single but could only find it on the album Rambin' Man.When i played the album i became a Waylon fan forever.I sold a truck to a guy and gave him a cd i had made of Waylon ,four years later he told me thats the only cd he plays since he bought the truck.R.I.P Hoss
@larrysherman4809 Hank Williams Jr. Had a song that he wrote about waylon's 🎸 ,and Im almost certain that it is titled "Waylon's Guitar"...... also in the lyrics you hear hank jr. Say waylon's guitar 🎸 had that sound...... and about Hank Jr having waylon's unique original personalized 53' leather stitched telecaster.......umm I don't think so I don't believe Jr ever purchased Waylon's 53' telecaster whenever waylon passed away from his diabetes in February of 2002- I'm not real sure how many years had gone by before Waylon's customized legendary leather covered leather stitched 53'telecaster finally went to auction and sold for $200,000$ don't quote me on the price 😂lol I think it's around that price whenever it was auctioned off.....the person who did purchase waylon's guitar was Kieth Urban he actually had.held and was able to play waylon's legendary guitar that is pretty dadgum badass... Don't know if Kieth Urban still has this telecaster of wj or if he sold it to someone else idk
You got that right!! And tell ya what when a radio station (or whoever) pulls that crap of fill in the blank is the "next Waylon" they're making sure I won't be listening to that artist. There will NEVER be another Waylon!!
I used to see him every chance I got when I was a kid. I would sit there by myself and just listen in awe. He really knew how to draw the audience in. He played one show and he couldn't use his hands due to surgery. It was even more intriguing just listening to him. He could really make you feel a song, and you knew he lived the lyrics. Truly the best there ever was.
Hoss we sure do miss you here on planet Earth, you may be gone but your music lives on and will even after we have joined you, thank you for making the hard times bearable and the good times even better

The '70s. A 20-something cutting her musical teeth on Patti Smith's Horses and the Ramones Rocket to Russia. Somehow Waylon Jennings made it into the mix. I ain't country and this stuff stands the test of time. Great musican, great voice, great soul. I love Rockaway Beach, but when my soul needs nourishment, this is where I come. Go figure. Forget bad ass and outlaw, art is universal.
I have listened to Waylon since the 60's. When he had that Brylcream sideboard duck tail. But when I heard this song, and him picking that smooth loping, backbeat thumping, driving telecaster, and deliver that vocal story, my hair stood on end. I was on the bus for good. Waylon shook the music World for good. RIP Waylon Jennings.
Ralph was the best and Waylon knew it and made sure he was featured. Country music rolled back then. I am no musician, but I beg for an artist to go back to what thee guys did. I miss it.
damn we need country music to be like this agian we have one ray of hope in country today and thats Jamey johnson lets hope he can give nashville as many gray hairs as waylon did LONG LIVE WAYLON AND THE OUTLAW COUNTRY!!!
Waylon is enabling my daydreaming addiction… In my brain, I’m riding in a train boxcar and driving a big rig like a bat out of he11 while Roscoe P. Coltrane is on my tail… all between doing cowboy outlaw sh-t. And being very cool the whole time.
RIP Waylon........ you brought a LOT of great country music songs to us............. including being the narrator for the "Dukes of Hazzard" and bringing us the theme song.............. God Bless you Brother!
I'm so glad that even though I wasn't around in Waylon's time, there are ways to hear his music, and Shooter is not just livin up to his daddy's legacy, but leavin his own for Alabama and Waylon. I wonder if they'll keep the music alive on down the road. I sure hope they do

you can kind of smell it. Never enough Waylon. There's a big shindig coming up in Austin celebrating the Influence ~~beloved Lukas Nelson & POTR & Paula Nelson & many others will be playing a benefit for pancreatic cancer reseach

Real Country music Died with Waylon & Johnny
It speaks volumes that he steps back with the other musicians rather than standing out in front of them while they solo. Very professional.
