So. Some people will think they are smart and check frank on the closed system comment and reply that we're not one because we get energy from the sun....HOWEVER the sun isn't infinite... that is part of why the 2nd law applies
@therick363 frank mentioned the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Most aitheists like to point out that the 2nd law don't apply here because earth isn't a closed system. Frank mentioned this. This is true partially, the earth isn't a closed system because we get our energy from the sun therfore a outside source. However, the fact that our energy source has a limited life span, the 2nd law therfore still applies. Look up entropy. We also can use this as further evidence for the theory of evolution being not logical or possible. Everything is in a constant state of decay unless influenced by an outside source. Example leave your house sitting locked and empty for a week and you'll come back to dirt and dust everywhere, leave it longer and things will begin breaking down unless your intervention with house keeping and maintenance. So using this the people i referenced will say that we are not a closed system so entropy isn't the same because the sun is the outside source of intervention therefore a open system. That's why i mentioned the life span, even the sun is decaying so to speak. This is a subject im studying for a seminar for my local church. Its fascinating when you really start digging. Ive had this resistance from numerous people already hence my original comment.
@@dano8613 Entropy can temporarily decrease in a closed system as long as the entire system ends up in a state of increased entropy. Anyway, the universe isn't a closed system as far as anyone knows, it could be infinitely large.
How can time, space, and matter "come" into existence of there wasn't time for it? Also Einstein's equation showed that the space-time he categorized it has curves infinitely at the singularity but this doesn't necessarily imply a beginning to it.
As human beings it's very difficult to comprehend. If there is a God, He is outside of space, time and matter. It's another dimension. And God fits all the boxes of a personal being who is all powerful and all knowing.
@Disciple793 Ok but clearly it isn't impossible to comprehend if people can comprehend it enough to say those things about it and say God exusts with it. God, if there is one, exists outside of time and soace and matter and sure that has always been easy to comprehend besides the fact it would probably lead to other issues like that he couldn't create if he was. But if God exists in another dimension that isn't time, space, or matter, then he is still inside of something and is being restricted to that dimension. God can fitvthe boxes of being a personal being that is all powerful and knowing but that wouldn't have to do with anything I am saying.

There are two kinds of infinity; countable and uncountable infinity. Countable infinity deals with the numbers such as 1, 2, 3, and so on. Uncountable infinity deals with numbers as as root two, pie, e, and others. There are more of these kind of numbers than the first set…in other words one set is infinitely larger than the other. “How can something be bigger than infinity?” Well it can. God may exist in the realm of the uncountable. Space time may be countable infinity which exists within an uncountable realm. This may be why God can violate the laws of physics or why “with God, all things are possible” can make sense. God can literally see our infinity all at once and manipulate it.
@michaelsilveradventure5712 There is no such thing as a countable infinity. Whole numbers like 1, 2, and 3 are ones you can count but you still cannot count up to infinity with them. What you call uncountable numbers like pi, sqrt(2) and e are really called irrational and sometimes transcendental numbers but you can still count them no differently than whole numbers by saying their names. There are infinitely more irrational and transcendental numbers than whole numbers but that doesn't make one of them countable and another not countable. That is a very strange distinction you made.
@@maxhagenauer24 All that intelligence will be worthless on Judgment day. Get saved by believing the gospel before it's too late. You are not promised tomorrow.
@@maxhagenauer24 It’s a matter of terminology. When you say “infinitely more” it’s actually less rigorous. What we mean by countable is that there is a bijection-a one-to-one correspondence-between any countable set and the natural numbers, by definition.
@seanpierce9386 Yeah it's a matter of terminology because the terminology he used is wrong. "Infinitely more" is less rigorous and better defined, it simply means an infinite amount of numbers more than the numbers of the other set. I do not see how a bijection which is specifically a one to one function correspondence like yiu said would wirk here or what that means. Between any 2 counting set and natural numbers, it is not a bijection bu definition, nor does that have to do with what I said. How can a set itself be a bijection? A countable set of numbers is usually defined in math as a set where each element can be paired with a unique natural number.
Also, the OP’s thought doesn’t actually work. There are countably infinitely many aleph_n numbers and you can continue to define even larger infinities, well, infinitely. Cantor himself thought that these infinities exist in the mind of God. After all, they’re just mathematical structures like everything else.

Why can’t there be an “infinite” series of material things ? That’s because in any physical universe it is an inherent quality of physicality to have limits, Because physical things are in a constant state of change. Nothing remains the same forever in a material universe. And if one believes in a god/creator then a person must reconcile their beliefs with the very nature of the physical universe. Who/What is said to have created Everything ? God. And if god is omniscient then that god should’ve known in advance that creating a universe out of matter there would be no such thing as “eternal life”. Eternity is defined as being everlasting time, so eternity is in fact time itself. Because evidence suggests that the Universe had a beginning and could not have come from nothing, religious doctrine fills this unknown factor with a creator god. The assumption being that their eternal god created the universe out of nothing. This is a classic case of the fallacy "god of the gaps". 1 Thessalonians 4:13 et al says that the dead are asleep and will arise at Christ’s return.
Neoplatonism is the pagan Greek belief in the immortal soul, but nowhere in the Bible does it say we have an immortal soul!

What's the difference between infinite time and eternal?
@katamas832 eternal has no time. No beginning, no end. Its all things at once always. Infinity can have a beginning but no end. Infinity is a forever continuation.
@@imabeast7560 "Eternal has no time" then what does it have? Because something can't exist never. That's just not existing. There has to be a continuum for existance to make sense. Especially for cause and effect, such as causing the universe to exist.
And the "it's all things all at once, always" is using a lot of temporal language for something without time.
Not quite, infinity is a never ending set. It can never end in either way, it is true it can have a beginning. But it doesn't have to.
So. Some people will think they are smart and check frank on the closed system comment and reply that we're not one because we get energy from the sun....HOWEVER the sun isn't infinite... that is part of why the 2nd law applies
Help me understand your comment better please.
The earth isn’t a closed system….
The 2nd law applied to?

Turek should really study some subjects before claiming non sense. Entropy can be increasing forever even if there is a finite amount of it. So his argument from entropy is just wrong
The notion of eternal life is premised upon human ego, desire, fear (of death), imagination, etc. even though there is NO physical evidence of anything in a material universe lasting forever & forever !! And those who commit themselves to such nonsense are nothing more than cowards to face such fact(s) straight on.

3- Albert Einstein never said that SpaceTime came into existence

5- The Big Bang theory is the moment the Known Universe began to expand from an Infinite Energy-dense point, it does not mean the moment Timea-Space began to exist or that it "created"
6- The Total amount of Energy in the Universe today is exactly the same as it was 13.8 Billion years ago when the Known Universe began to expand, and if the Universe continues to exist another 13.8 Billion years from now, the total amount of energy in the Universe will be exactly the same as in its beginning

Since Energy itself cannot be created nor destroyed, that means it has always existed, and the Known Universe could be a state of Energy that has transformed and expanded

Eternity is defined as being everlasting time, so eternity is in fact time itself.
Time itself exists due to God's existence, so God didn't even need to create time itself in the first place because it exists due to God's existence.
When God created the space, matter, and energy of the universe the timeline of the universe that branched off of time itself began.
God is outside the timeline of the universe but is not outside of time itself which is eternity.
I think that's causes another issue for Christians because then they wonder why did God wait so long to create anything. The universe is insanely old
I agree with her, there is no logic of an infinite regression that says defies any logic and I guess you can say it's thought that way mathematically but I wouldn't compare it to that. I don't think it's the mathematicians who try to outwit God, it's the atheists who don't understand all that much about mathematics. In mathematics, infinite is merely a concept, not a representation of reality. Mathematicians all recognize this.

Because evidence suggests that the Universe had a beginning and could not have come from nothing, religious doctrine fills this unknown factor with a creator god. The assumption being that their eternal god created the universe out of nothing. This is a classic case of the fallacy "god of the gaps". In truth the universe did not come from nothing, although how it came into being we don't know and maybe never will.

Jesus rose from the dead. 500 eye witness accounts, historians place a 75-80% chance that this happened. After his resurrection, the whole afterflow effect begins of the 'god fills the gaps' and it all makes sense. Yet to be disproved of any points. Evidence points towards Jesus was likely real, gospels are relatively accurate and from an evidence based perspective, god creating the universe can be derived.
