Greetings from Scotland :D Stuff they made up: Wallace's backstory - little is actually known of Wallace's early life but he was certainly not the son of some random farmer. He was a landowner, a minor noble. The French Princess - at the time of the story, she was nine & still in France The wife - there is no evidence Wallace was ever married The homosexuality of Prince Edward - his enemies spread this rumour after his death, most historians doubt it's true Robert the Bruce's betrayal at Falkirk - total fantasy, invented entirely for the film. Zero basis in fact. The old King's death - Edward Longshanks outlived Wallace by quite a few years Stuff they exaggerated: Wallace's invasion of England - while he did invade northern England, I don't believe he got within a hundred miles of York. Stuff that is true: The Battle of Stirling Bridge - while the exact events have been made more cinematic, the basic facts are that a massively outnumbered Scottish force under Wallace's command did indeed annihilate the entire northern army of the English. His capture & execution - he was betrayed by the Scottish nobles & captured by the English in Glasgow. He was taken to London where he was hung, drawn (guts removed) & quartered (exactly what it sounds like). His head was placed on London bridge & the four quarters of his body were sent to the four corners of the kingdom as a warning (spoiler, it didn't work).

There are some good movies about Robert the Bruce, one staring the same actor filmed in 2020 called Robert the Bruce and the other on Netflix starting Chris Pine called The Outlaw King.
It’s based on the Scottish rebellion of 1314. It was Robert the Bruce’s rebellion but Wallace is a cult figure who was reported to be a great Scottish warrior who fought with Bruce. There is no concrete evidence that he even existed. But historians stated that if he did and won the battles he won and wielded the sword that’s accredited to him, he must have been a man of huge physical stature. (Hence the jokes about him height). Also, the bit about him fathering the princesses child is pure fantasy.

Well done on a nice honest reaction. You should do the Outlaw King next which shows part of the story of King Robert the Bruce leading up to Bannockburn. Braveheart kind of compresses a lot of the actual history, and mixes in a fair amount of fiction, but the Outlaw King is related to the story of Braveheart.

The French Princess - at the time of the story, she was nine & still in France
The wife - there is no evidence Wallace was ever married
The homosexuality of Prince Edward - his enemies spread this rumour after his death, most historians doubt it's true
Robert the Bruce's betrayal at Falkirk - total fantasy, invented entirely for the film. Zero basis in fact.
The old King's death - Edward Longshanks outlived Wallace by quite a few years
Stuff they exaggerated:
Wallace's invasion of England - while he did invade northern England, I don't believe he got within a hundred miles of York.
Stuff that is true:
The Battle of Stirling Bridge - while the exact events have been made more cinematic, the basic facts are that a massively outnumbered Scottish force under Wallace's command did indeed annihilate the entire northern army of the English.
Shut up mate, it's a film these girls ain't interested in a history lesson. Get a grip.
Very true, ma man. I live 5 minutes up the road from his, supposed, capture site at Robroyston where there is a Wallace monument and a drinking Well, named Wallace's Well. This site is not really that well known, unlike the Stirling monument on Abbey Craig.
That was amazing! Thank you both so much!
"Those who give up essential freedom for temporary safety deserve neither"-Ben Franklin
“A wam bama loobam a wam bam boom” Ben Affleck
You are both so kind. That’s why I love your reactions.
And very smart, I've watched my fellow Brits react to this and not pick up on the politics and nuances of the time, especially with the prima nocte stuff. Jyn and Ryl have good heads on their shoulders.
"Stand and be recognized.. for your true height." LOL! Good one, Ryl.
Great movie! Not historically accurate, but great nevertheless.
Non of Gibsons movies are historically accurate. But they're all great
Oh give it a rest. Sick to the back teeth of hearing that it’s “not historically accurate”. Go and try and enjoy yourself son. Embarrassing.
Great reaction girls! I cried with you at the end! 😢
I love your reactions. Your observations & comments are always keen and spot-on. Keep 'em coming.
I challenge you to transcribe their post-movie comments without having your brain run out your nose.
32:20, the moment the King asked "Who is this person who speaks to me as though I needed his advice?", the countdown clock on Philips lifespan hit 10 and started ticking off
Loved your reaction ladies…you even had me tearing up at the end
That cold ''yeah'' at 18:45 made me laugh hard ...😂🤣😂🤣 that's approoval right there
You two gave such an attentive commentary what a lovely reaction
Thank you so much for appreciating this movie. While some things were changed the main course of events are there. England tried to cover up our history and our victories. But luckily other nations recorded the truth and it is now being retaught. The truth always comes out.
Your compassion for what our people went through is heartwarming. Love from Scotland 🏴
4:30 "Is that his lover?"
Ah. Jyn, that was a _brilliant_ feat of insight.
Great reaction, Ladies! 'Braveheart' is one of my favorite movies and I still shed a tear or two at the end. I love the character of Steven, he was a loyal friend and warrior to Sir William Wallace. And I'll be looking forward to your next movie reaction, thanks! 📽️🍿😊
32:18 lol "Phillip is going to die right now."
i have watched many reactions to this movie, one of my fav's.. you two picked up on alot of the nuances and clues right away.. when others did not.. good job paying attention :)
💜💜
Glad you ladies enjoyed this film. One of my favorites.
Steven is a REAL one.
MUAH-HAHAHAHAHAHAH 🤪
@@dallesamllhals9161you're a madman
There are some good movies about Robert the Bruce, one staring the same actor filmed in 2020 called Robert the Bruce and the other on Netflix starting Chris Pine called The Outlaw King.
Great reactions ladies. Keep up the good work. Don't hold in your emotions. We watch to see your empathy.
You ladies talked right over one of the best speeches in cinematic history LOL
Yo0ur guys deserve more subscribers- you understand what you are watching and have many thoughtful comments.
i am Scottish . . . obviously up on our history, but iam extremely happy to see these 2 young black women share the movie with me. The perspective they furnished is SO important. The unity of equal pains, equal loves and wants. Proves again we are ALL THE SAME. Great looking ladies too i have to add! Thank you for sharing.
This movie gives me chills every time!
This is my favorite move it has humor spiritually , acttion, how politics works and gives a person the understanding how politics sometimes works under dictators.
34:22, I love those moments when someone thinks they can talk greasy in another language because they believe the other person to be ignorant.
Then to see their jaw drop when they discover the other person is multilingual.
Vous etes tres gentile
One of the Best Movies ever made. You are also two lovely intelligent young ladies.✌️
Great movie...great reaction! Thanks for allowing us to watch with you. You two are the best!
And in the Disney movie "Merida" gives a guy with williams blue painted.face too! I think its cos that movie for remember on his fight for freedom^^
You are so much stronger than me, I tear up every time I see this and when I saw it in the theater I was crying a lot, it his me so hard
"Long Shanks" Was the nickname of the English King he got that because he was tall for the time.
Great reaction ladies! Top 10 movie for me for sure!
Still carrying the fight today a man of the people what a guy
Showing your emotions is a sign of strength not weakness
💜💜
The wedding ritual is called "Hand Fasting" which was very common back then
Great reaction. Thanks ladies.
As a Scotsman Im a bit addicted to Americans react or Jyn x Ryl react, it's a hell of a movie and loved watching you guys watch it or react, I only planned checking the vid for a minute but I watched it all, you guys are super smart on things before you got the hint especially the battle scenes, well impressed, loved the video 😉👌.... However.. I could ruin (not you're video but the movie) but I won't, learn history folks much love from Scotland
Those violence and fighting scenes look very realistic 👏 and I'm glad that they didn't put any music into it. Totally deserved 5 Oscar winner 👏
You two nices ladies became one of my favorites reactors on YT...
Wallace was a gigantic bloke in real life. Great video btw.
Good to see you wearing your purple plate for EMR and EMF.
Sub'd for a minute already. Just started video, ten seconds in. I love watching babies watch movies like Braveheart! They don't make 'em like this anymore!
G'day from Australia, love your reaction, subscribed.
32:19 "Phillip is gonna die _right_ now."
Jyn, that was an impressive feat of insight.
From glasgow this gets me hyped 🤣stand by your family you die wifh your family and thats life, thats your role in nature
Great review girls, love and respect from Australia
October 31st 2023 thank you for this young ladies it's nice to re-watch this movie with someone else, kind of. Love your reactions though y'all take care of thank you bye now.
Thank you for exploring this little know story about my ancestral history of Scotland. I have three Scottish bloodlines... Scott & Burns on my Father's side.. and yes... Wallace on my Mother's. And I have been to Scotland multiple times to walk the fields, mountains, crags and moors where a lot of these events happened. Now as for actual historical accuracy of this film... weeelll... That's a discussion for another day. But I'm glad you enjoyed and were touched emotionally by this.
Aye, so ye dae ye fanny. And my great , great, great , great , great grandad shagged bonnie prince Charles dug twice. Walloper.
Taking a wild guess this is an American lol
@@xplorer841Haha im from the Uk but lived in the US for eight the amount of Americans that would tell me they were 10 percent Irish ten or whatever always made me laugh.
Beautiful reaction! So beautiful by such beautiful people!🌸🌿🌼
Dude, that king in his death bed reminds me of me when I had covid just lying there hoping I didn't lose my ability to speak before I died...that would royally suck.
alot of thing out of place in terms of time, maybe 20 years but .. butt.. a powerful message and a wonderful piece of cinema. us scots love it for that reason. first time we were ever represented in cinema on a massive scale.
Very true, ma man. I live 5 minutes up the road from his, supposed, capture site at Robroyston where there is a Wallace monument and a drinking Well, named Wallace's Well. This site is not really that well known, unlike the Stirling monument on Abbey Craig.
Enjoyed the reaction... thank you for sharing.
Funny thing. I have been learning about the language in this period of English history. You will find odd to learn that if we went back in time that we would not be able to communicate with the people of this period of time.
I’m ready for this scenario in my beloved America!!
These are my people. I'm so proud of my entire heritage. Scottish, Scandinavian, Germanic. Hordy cultures. The flashing is a nod to the nude Gaels who fought in their birthday suits.
But this movie is almost completely fiction..Its absolutely disgusting when you think about it. William wallace fone his own share if raping and pillaging.. Here he is portrayed a as some shining hero
Also,, No the gaals didn't fight naked..
Unfortunately we are no longer free from the shackles of the English.
But I hope in my lifetime one day we are free again. 🏴🏴🏴🏴
First time watching you 2 react and enjoyed watching both reactions to 1 of my favourite films. Liked and subscribed and ❤looking forward to more like this. Thank you
Love the fact the English kicked the Scott’s arse. Smashed them jocks real good 😊 great ending, slice that traitor up good 👍🏻
Try and learn to spell the word “Scot” before embarrassing yourself.
its part of our history, and part of the reason alot of us get so insulted when we (white guys) get referred to as racists. my french, scottish and jewish ancestors fought hard for our freedom many times throughout history,... further being Canadian,... we lead the underground railroad,.. thanks for sharing this bit of history!
first time here, great energy in that intro
subbed
❤️
Yes horses do swim m kinda like hippos, they float pretty good too
