Congrats to Jonathon and team for doing such a great job on this years Type S for both the TLX and Integra. Well done, Acura. I LOVE this TLX color.
Wow! Thanks for the comment & feedback! I completely agree, I really like the Urban Gray on TLX!
Best all-around daily driver for the money. Incredibly underrated and it's best car I've owned. I had the CT4v previously, and it didn't come close. Online, this car gets zero credit for:
1. The SH-AWD/TVD system. Many complaints about its weight, but no consideration given to what this car can do in corners and in inclement weather because of its very special AWD/TVD system. I couldn't drive my Cadillac in NY winters safely.
2. Standard adaptive dampers and double wishbone suspension. You have to pay extra for the dampers on the BMW and it doesn't come with DWB.
3. Sound deadening, audio system, body rigidity and build quality. Again, night and day difference between my Cadillac and this. The Cadillac felt like an unrefined, shaky economy car compared to this.
Thanks for the comment & detailed feedback! Really good points all around! I agree, the TLX stands strong amongst the competition for sure. There was another user saying his BMW is so much faster, but I think that’s missing the point. All around, like you said, this car has a lot of things going for it.
I test drove a TLX type s before buying my integra type s. The only thing I liked better on the TLX was the front seat comfort. This car has 35hp more than my ITS, but weighs 1000 pounds more. I feel the overall enthusiast driving experience, with the manual transmission on my ITS is way better.
Love my 23 TLX Type S
Thanks for the comment! I’m sure you do, what color combo do you have?
@@Drive_Culture apex blue pearl with an orchid interior
Kudos for calling out all the little changes from 2023 to 2024 that a lot of larger reviewers missed!
Wow! Thanks a lot for the comment & feedback!
video/photos dont do the Urban Gray Pearl color justice! sooooo nice in person
Thanks for the comment! You’re so right, it just looks awesome with the sun shining on it!
I recently drove the M340i and TLX Type S back to back. Totally agree with your analysis. Although the m340i (rwd) was a bit quicker, I preferred the visibility and driving dynamics more in the TLX, plus the curb appeal of the TLX looks the part. Great tech insight in the video and look forward to seeing more great content on your channel.
WOW! Thanks for the comment & feedback. Yeah it’s very easy for people to get caught up “in the specs”, when real driving pleasure is so much more important! I really appreciate the kind words! 👍🏾 We’ll have the new BMW M2 on the channel soon, so be sure to come back for that one!
been looking around for TLX Type S accessories, then thought of roof rack support out of the blue
I get the need of A brace for chassis stiffening (ironically for a car that's not really much of track capable), but I think roof rack support for this car will counter cargo limitations wonderfully
Thanks for the comment & feedback! To make sure I understand, you hoping that a roof rack existed for TLX Type S? If so, what would you plan to carry on it?
@@Drive_Culture I was curious if the TLX has support mounts for roof rack application, like the RDX/MDX series I mean
Figured its cool to spend a week outdoor, and mount skis/bikes on your special car since the A brace gets in the way, so that you can “have the cake and eat it too"
Loving the new color and cleaned up front grill
Thanks for the comment! Totally agree, makes it look much better!
Another great video Jonathan. I’ve had the new TLX in this exact spec since the end of February here in Texas and I absolutely love this car. If you’re in the market for a car like this don’t be swayed by the reviews/comments from people who haven’t driven one. It really is a fantastic car with a dual personality and “enough” oomph for just about anyone. All modern cars make some compromises but the TLX Type S doesn’t make many. Also, Jonathan where can I get a Type S jacket like yours?
Wow! Thanks for the comment & feedback! Glad you’re enjoying your car! It really is a lot of fun to drive and looks / sounds great too. The jacket I got from a work event, but I wear it more because I own the ITS now! 😂
excellent review, with a car this big you would figure that there would be room in the back seat area, not very smart on Acura engineers to have a tight back seat on such a great looking car, i would buy one if the back seat was roomier.
Thanks for the comment & detailed feedback! Yeah the back leg room can be a deal breaker for some, but clearly most owner’s don’t seem to prioritize it. If that isn’t enough space for you, what are you driving instead?
Loving my Integra A-Spec but I can't wait to get a Type S in this exact spec. Maybe I'll be able to keep both.
Thanks for the comment! That would be an awesome garage if you could hang onto both! Let us know if you pull the trigger!
Have you reviewed the Lexus IS 500? Thank you for this review!
Thanks for the comment! We haven’t reviewed that vehicle just yet. We’ll see if we can add it into the rotation. Hope you come back for more content!
I was disappointed with the lack of a lot of features of the Integra Type-S. My dealer encouraged me to test drive a used recent model TLX Type-S. Despite the TLX not being on my radar, I was really impressed by this car. I know it gets ragged in for the weight, but it didnt feel like a boat to me. The only thing holding me back from getting one of these is it seems like there is very limited inventory of this trim out there.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! The newer 2024 TLX is still just rolling into dealers, so there may be limited inventory especially for Type S! What color are you going to get? Good luck with your search!
Shred a few pounds on this, 2025 MDX infotainment (touch) and will be much better! Handsome sedan. Question, why no front blackout logo is not offered but is on the back? Radar prevents that?
Thanks for the comment and feedback! Yeah, it doesn’t look like the Black logo is available for the front.
Is there a website we can get some of the amazing merch you wear?
Wow! Thanks for the comment! We actually have a store in the AHM office that sells this stuff, but there’s no consumer facing website. 😭 Working on eventually getting some Drive Culture merch too! 👍🏾
Please give the next one a touchscreen & over 400hp & make it lighter, I have the 21 & it's a great car but I know there's more to this car if you guys would just listen to the consumer
Thanks for the comment! This site is not affiliated with Honda or Acura, but love to hear the feedback!
Acura is dope but if they want to have a performance division w the type s they need to up the HP. They can do 500hp w that v6 cmon man. lol. They would knock bmw off the top.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! Are you into EVs? They just launched the ZDX Type S with 500hp! LOL
I hear you though, it’ll be interesting to see where things go from here!
@@Drive_Culture I’m a honda guy lol. Tired of having to do aftermarket stuff to boost power. It’s 2024 helcats come with 700hp. It’s the reason I got rid of my mdx type s. Too slow man. They look the part but are slow. I can’t do it anymore lol. Only EV id consider is the Tycan turbo.
Why did Acura have to get rid of the red paint for the type s? I was waiting for the refresh to get all the updates that I wanted, but now im hesitant to get it. All because the exterior color I wanted I is no longer available.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! I’m guessing it went away due to popularity? With that said, you could always wrap your car whatever color you like, but I get your point.
@@Drive_CultureHonda/Acura simply produces X number of cars in each color. For example, Honda made hardly any orange Si’s and then discontinued the color because of “low sales”. Well yes, if you produce 5% orange cars, only 5% of them will sell. In reality, orange was the fan favorite color.
Where are the 2024 TLX Type S ? There are very few on dealer lots. Most dealers have received zero type S cars. Whats up Acura ? I love refresh other than no standard heated steering wheel and no tire and wheel package . Shark grey Y spoke wheels with summer tires should be option! Dealer installed cost 5X than the factory option. Come on Acura deliver Type S to dealers !
Thanks for the comment & detailed feedback! I can’t speak to cars arriving at dealer as this channel has no affiliation with Honda / Acura. Hopefully they’ll start showing up soon!
The TLX Type S is truly A great vehicle but it needs more than 355 horse power. Every vehicle in the same class is faster.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! More power would be great! What vehicle are you going with?
@@Drive_Culture I’d still choose the TLX Type S but it needs to be faster compared to the competition G70, BMW M340i etc. The Type S needs at least around 400 horsepower to offset the 4200 lbs it’s moving
What’s a realistic mpg on this car? If I put it in comfort can it actually get mid 20’s?
You can get mid 20s in any mode, just depends on your driving style and how busy the streets are.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah it’s rated at 21mpg combined, so if you behave yourself in comfort, I would imagine low to mid 20s.
They can’t give them away. It looks fast but it’s slow. It looks big but inside is small. It looks rwd but is fwd based. MPG and resale is meh.
Nice car, looks good but it’s just for honda fans.
Thanks for the comment & feedback.
Are you still a product planner with Acura?
Thanks for the comment! I still work for AHM, now as a manager in the Product Planning division. This channel is my own though & not affiliated with AHM!
I want this but I need a Ridgeline
Thanks for the comment! Ha, I know the feeling… if you haven’t already be sure to watch our Ridgeline review too!
My 2024 M340i would eat this cute little Acura for lunch
Thanks for the comment & feedback! Yeah I’m sure it’s faster in a straight line, but I’ll take the TLX in the twisties! Stick around, cause I also like Beemers & will be doing a review on the new M2 soon!
Then go buy the BMW.
Yet somehow, the TLX Type S beat the M340i's lap time at MotorTrend's Figure-8 hot lap.
