Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype | Should They Build THIS!?
The Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype has taken the market by storm! It includes true performance parts that are not only functional, but have proven race pedigree given they were blessed by the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC)!
As if the Integra Type S wasn’t already good enough with its 320hp VTEC Turbo engine, mated to a 6-speed manual with a helical limited slip differential, it is an amazing performance vehicle straight from the factory! Paint it Indy Yellow and add all those HRC performance parts though… now you’re on another level!

    Great review.. thank you. I have a 2021 Black edition. So far it is reliable...I enjoy practicality of the truck above all, nothing currently in the market compares to the Ridgeline unless we look into electrify vehicles, but that has Its drawback. What will make the Ridgeline exceptional is having a hybrid version. Cheers 🍻

      Moreover, I can't get over that Acura did NOT again include a Power adjustable steering column?? I have had that in my last 6 cars (4 Infinitis, 19 MDX and now a 22 MDX). That works so great with the Auto Entry and Auto exit feature = moving the steering wheel up and the seats back to exit, and Vice Versa when you get in and hit Start!!

  • @CiaoBoy44
    @CiaoBoy44 2 дні тому

    The NSX never had a hydraulic power steering system, so no hydraulic power steering fluid in any NSX. The 1991-1994 manual transmission and 1999 Zanardi Edition cars had manual steering, no power steering of any kind, so that's why steering requires so much effort at parking lot speeds. The 1991-1994 automatic transmission cars and all subsequent 1995-2005 models (except for the Zanardis) had an electric power steering system that came before the electric power steering system used in the S2000. Another common misconception is that the metal key is made out of titanium. It's actually made out of Monel, which is nickel-copper alloy. The misconception gets perpetuated by lots of people who incorrectly refer to the NSX key as a titanium key.

    • @Drive_Culture
      @Drive_Culture 2 дні тому

      @@Drive_Culture Would like to know more! Car looks awesome. But if the price is going to increase significantly for a production version of this, a little more power and AWD should justify that in the enthusiast community. Keeping it as is with visual packages and same performance + adding $10-20k to the MSRP not including mark ups is what kills cool projects like this.

    I had 05 and 08 AP2s back in the day, and stupidly sold them. But I recently acquired an all-original low-mileage 05 in beautiful condition (was owned by an actual little old lady). Within 15 seconds of driving it I remembered how special these cars are. Despite being a fun little convertible, it drives with a level of composure and sophistication that is unparalleled. Of course the engine is fantastic, and the shifter has widely been recognized as one of the best of all time. I've owned a lot of great sports cars over the years, but the fact that I sought out an S2000 all these years later says it all. It's hard to do better. I feel like the 04-05 were the best AP2 models, since they had the original seat design with the headrest cutouts, old fashioned throttle by cable, no stability control, and really nice clean five V-spoke wheels. 06-07 had plainer seats, throttle by wire, electronic nannies (VSA), and a cluttered wheel design. Things got a little better for 08-09 with improved seats and they went back to five spoke wheels, but the car was canceled after the 09 model year since sales had dropped off significantly. The S2000 was ahead of its time in the early years, forgotten in the later years, and now cherished here in the future. Maybe that's what makes it so timeless? BTW, when the S2000 AP1 debuted in showrooms in 1999, they were regularly marked up to $50K or more (and people paid it). Think about how much $50K was in 1999! That cooled off by the next model year and pricing remained sane throughout the remaining model years. Sadly, 10 years later they couldn't give them away. I remember a dealer had a 2009 CR model sitting in the showroom for almost a year and offered it to me well below MSRP. What a dummy I was passing on the car, since a nice clean CR is worth well in excess of $100K now.

    • @Drive_Culture
      @Drive_Culture 3 дні тому

      Thanks for the comment & detailed feedback! Super lucky to have owned multiple S2000s! Yes, it really was (and is) such a special vehicle! I’m gonna try to do an AP1 and CR review at some point too! And yes, a low mileage CR can go closer to $200k these days!

    This was fun to watch and I loved hearing that sweet engine once again. I had a 97 Prelude SH in Eucalyptus Green with a black over tan interior and it was a real looker. That year, engine output was only 195HP but it was otherwise the same as this 99 except for the front grill style. I never really knew if ATTS was doing anything special, other than it makes a brief hum when you first start out as the system pressurizes. One other interesting feature on these cars was the acoustic feedback stereo system, which put a mic in the rear speakers to detect and correct for any distortion. It was kind of neat, but ultimately the audio volume would just sort of level out the more you cranked the knob. Probably saved some of my hearing. I remember driving around slinging CDs in and out of that stereo like they were going out of style (and they did). Fun times. You really can't beat the quality, fit and finish, and sweet sounding engines of that era Hondas. I feel like these were the peak days, through about 2005 or so.

    Acura should learn from the basics of making a car that is engineered to be connected to the driver, agile , basically a connection between the road and the driver. This is what got Nissan in trouble with the original 240z and the new Z. Same applies to toyota with the GT2000, problem on of the greatest examples of unique engineering, which was never mass produced because they demand was not there initially. Acura cars back in the late 80’s delivered automotive-engineering prowess. Amazing engineering, driver to road connectivity that over time has turned into a numb driving experience. Automobile companies are too worried about electronics gimmicks and LCD screens. The real deal is finding a car that offers the driving experience from handling, cockpit-ergonomics, braking and suspension. These days we cannot even get a good 6cyl engine because most car manufacturers have 4cyl turbo that stress the engine to perform with lack of response. Mosty due to cars being overweight because of a vast amount of electronics. I been lucky to experience and drive Acura legend sedan 88 and 92. Maxima 2002, those cars offered the best engine and overall performance at the time. Of course in my family we have had many cars after, but thise cars will always be remembered.

I hear you though, the market in general has changed drastically the last couple of decades as vehicles add more safety, tech and equipment! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!

    Trash! Has some good points but it’s trash and will not make the same impact as the late 90’s Integra. Looks like a EVO and a Hyundai had a baby. It will have some buys in the beginning but die off very quickly. They only way it will survive, is if it came with a very very tunable power plant. If not, you’ll have a better chance with your dad coming back from getting that Jug of milk he’s said he was going to get 20 years ago. 😂 That design team needs to get fired and humiliated in public.😂

      Thanks for the comment! We’ll see if they bring this HRC version to market! The regular Integra is number one in sales in its segment, won 2023 car of the year and the Type S was R&T’s 2024 performance car of the year… so it can’t be all that bad! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!

      Thanks for the comment! Yeah if they’re sold just as parts, it won’t be so bad, but I’d it’s a limited edition vehicle… markups will be high! Hope you subscribed to come back for more!

    Had a Gen 1( 06 )loved it, hoping the next gen trail sport is much higher ground clearance needs atleast 5 more inches ground clearance . Definitely think Honda has the right formula, the 2021 update is probably what the should have started with in 2017. But this truck definitely needs a right hand drive export to other markets because it would sell extremely well.

    25 majestic black ITS owner. How is Borla exhaust sounds compare to oem? I wish ITS came with adjustable active sound control at Sport + real or fake if had an option to turn up the sound, hearing helps with shift points. Most people hates CTR fake noise but I find it useful at track. ITS already has ASC built in, why not offer sound level adjustments? I don’t think that would be costly for Acura.

    • @Drive_Culture
      @Drive_Culture 5 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment & feedback! Congrats on the MBP ITS! The Borla exhaust is out in the market, so you can check the forums or even some driving video of this ITS HRC to get a feel for the sound! Are you talking about the “beep” that CTR does to let you know to upshift? Otherwise the ASC in the CTR doesn’t really seem to help with shifting, it just “enhances” the engine sound (basically making it a bit louder)! Driving the cars back to back, the difference is the CTR has a much higher pitched tone with the beep, and doesn’t get the pops & crackles from the exhaust. I hear you though, if that higher pitched engine sound is what you’re after! Hope you subscribe to come back for more!

    • @trackeagle6013
      @trackeagle6013 5 днів тому

      @ Thanks I will check out Borla videos. And yes I was referring to the “high pitch” sound of CTR, engine/exhaust noise helps me know where I am at power-band so I knw shifting point is approaching. Especially at track when the car is quite, it throws my rhythm off. I just wished car manufacturers offered adjustable ASC. Since they already built in, why don’t they let us decide the volume level? I always wondered this.

    It will all boil down to HP and engine flexibility to expand performance by owners. Visuals are really just mods that can be added to customize car but if there is no real engineering performance from engine, braking and transmission, then it will fail miserably

    • @Drive_Culture
      @Drive_Culture 5 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment! While Acura & HRC haven’t said what an estimated power output could be, they did mention that the output, response and cooling performance of the high-revving turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC® engine are improved with a larger intercooler, twin oil coolers and a tuned, lightweight cat-back exhaust system, all developed for the Acura Integra Type S HRC TCX race car.

    • @danielmelendez9943

      @ i am just worried that they keep putting Type S branding in everything and thats not the way to sale more cars. I test drove the MDX and it was disappointing. Now they are talking about the RDX type S, as a possible model for next year. Type S, shookd have been only for the NSX.
