From different types of riders to terrain, our goal is to present the best and most honest information possible to help you make your best decision. I have this bike, It’s true that it is a little heavy but I love it since the first ride. It’s a great bike!
Hi Wolf pack, I just purchased this bike on the packs recommendation. I am 6' 1" i ordered the medium. I have been riding for years and i am long in the tooth. This is my first E bike. I valve your insight and advice. Keep up the great content.
Hey thank you so much and we hope you love the new bike!
You think the mediums fine for 6'1? I'm 6'2 and looking to order nearly went XL like all me previous MTBs but this I'd my first Emtb curious why I'd suddenly need to drop 2 sizes? I'm not the most knowledgeable on stats so it's for sure got me interested when you said you went medium like they stated yo.
The Strive:ON is fairly long for its sticker size, and we’d recommend typically going for a slightly shorter reach on a eBike to help to control the extra weight.
Take a look at the geometry table on your current bike if possible, and compare it with the Strive:on. If the Reach is the same or up to 15mm shorter, and the stack heights are within 20mm, you’ll likely be happy on the Strive:ON. Otherwise, feel free to ask for further help!
Just picked up one of the Underdogs and Loving it . What really surprised me is the forks a pretty good. I am 5'-9-1/2" and the med is perfect . Thanks for all the videos 👍👍👍👍
Just ordered, 31% off on sale! The review was the deciding factor thanks guys 🤙
Enjoy it! Sweet deal on a real ripper.
Whered ya find that deal?

Super excited for this years shootout! Ive always wanted to see a battle of the entry level. We all love seeing the top of the line top spec, but to see which entry bikes have the best low spec package is for a beginner like me is awesome. In the future it could be a great comparison against cheap bike with good parts or top end bike with base parts.
Thanks very much and appreciate the suggestion and watching the series.
Just ordered this after 2 months of watching, rewatching and reading all your reviews on this. Thanks for all the great content you all put out there, best channel around!
As a relative beginner whos coming to this from a hard tail non emtb i cant wait to get out more, ride more and learn more.
And with Canyon deals + cycle to work initiatives getting this for sub $4k feels like a great deal vs the alternatives.
Cheers guys! 🍻
Thanks Glen, hope you enjoy it!
The price is unreal right now, £3.969 with the 750 Wh battery is a steal.
Return comment… absolutely no regrets.
Loving every minute on this bike. As someone who usually finds an excuse to spend more, go bigger. I’m glad I followed the LW advice on this one. Left some money for gear and maintenance!
Cheers again guys swung by your store for some sick gear in support of all that you do! ❤
Damn those trails look fun! Canyon Strive sounds like a rad bike!
Yeah those trails were a blast. And the price is even lower right now!
I bought this exact model last week with the Canyon $900 off sale. It is my first E-MTB and man I love it so far. Plenty of power and fun as hell. I would agree that it does ride a little heavy but I like that it because it makes the bike feel planted and I am not much of a jumper. So on tech it is bomb. For the price and parts spec it is hard to beat and that Bosch motor over the Shimanos that I have tested is money instant engagement and power. I was worried about the brakes as well as I am not a fan of SRAM brakes at all. I ride Maguras on my regular bike and have always like Shimano brakes but actually I don't have any complaints about the brakes (well maybe a little soft). That being said it will be one of my first upgrades.
Right on that's great to hear and congratulations on the new rig. Enjoy it.
Yeh I’ve got the same bike, brakes are ok but will be my first upgrade too. I ordered the Uber break pads (best ones, forget what they’re called) and it improves braking massively!
I always thought that the canyon strive ON was and is a great value emtb it would be one of my choices if I was to get into emtbs which I plan to but overall great review
Right on thanks very much and certainly wouldn't be a bad entry!
@@TheLoamWolf yes and the price is now 4800$ from the 5700$ which makes it even better
Canyon Strive ON cfr underdog or Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo G3? Got a ok discount on the S works so it’s a price difference of about 4000€ between them. But is it worth it?
Basically I like to go trails with extreme climbing, but i’m not that extreme downhill rider.
Love this bike, geo for a small (5’9”) is very similar to mine, too bad they’re not available yet in Canada. Great review thanks! 👍
Ahh that's a bummer to learn. We didn't know that. Thanks for sharing the geo appreciation as a 5'9 rider.
So I'm 6'1 should I buy a medium?
The sale price is pretty good right now, but I think I’m still leaning towards the Decoy. Hard to beat them for the price. I ride a spectral, but I’m with you, I don’t like the way this strive looks
Looking at this bike and the scott ransom e920 which would you choose
How does it compare to the Spectral:ON? Thanks! 🤠
Totally different animal. Spectral:ON feels more light and playful. This is an aggressive, supple enduro rig.
I bought the more expensive version in green and love it but I got it in size Large
Heck yeah that's awesome to hear! Glad you are enjoying it. What size battery did you get?
Interesting how I am seeing a lot more Underdog reviews popping up lately the last few months now that the CFR and CFR LTDs are no longer in stock on the Canyon site. I still think the CFR mid range model has the best spec to $ deal but cannot buy one, (in the U.S.) now. Hoping for some nice updates on 2025 model.
Looking at Spectral on with ep8 and 900wh battery or the Strive with Bosh!! I know you guys are familiar with my local trails in Knoxville, which should I go for!!
The Spectral might be the better ticket for Knoxville, albeit, we would opt for a slightly smaller battery to keep it poppy and playful. The 900 would make the weight a bit unruly. If you are planning to ride Windrock more than anything else, we would likely opt for the Strive.
@@TheLoamWolf thanks for the feedback!! And I’ve got a DH bike for Windrock!!!
seriously looking at this bikebright now , but I'm afraid none of my LBS will work on it if i need anything fixed because i didn't buy it from them . any ideas jow to navigate this problem ? thanks , really enjoy the content you guys are always putting out
just so you , you released this video , the price went up about 12% ,on the website
You bike shop should still work on a bike you didn’t buy from them. Very few will refuse!
@TheLoamWolf going to go talk to another LBS , toss up between the strive:on underdog, or the scott ransom eride 920 ,gotta have a bosch powered
The trend set by the Levo 2 since 2019, long chainstays 29er integrated bigger battery comfy suspension was followed by all the big brands, except canyon and few more with his mullet 500wh battery and short geometry , all in favor of playfullness and performance
Time and people demands change so does the canyon but I bet it keeps that spirit as possible.
Sizing…do any of you guys have a “long torso?” I’m seriously considering the underdog but feeling like my 6’1” frame with a long torso has me in a twilight zone in terms of sizes for this bike
Did you get one… I’m in same position as you.
I did not but if I did I would have gone with the medium based on the GEOs compared to other bikes GEOs I was trying out
Great value
Ripper too!
Especially since they've dropped the price even more!
Would you sell your turbo levo alloy you built on the channel to try something new with this Bosch powered carbon canyon stive on underdog? Or is the specialized still the one you would go for??
Yes, we would get this Underdog over the Alloy for sure.
Awesome bike lovit❤❤❤
Us too! Solid value and performance.
Would be a treat if the higher spec Strive is in the shootout too?!?
Unfortunately it's not. Just this spec, which held it's own even against the more expensive bikes!
It was one of my choice but they don’t ship to Hawaii.
Screw the bike, Howler looks sick!
It was a party for sure!
Would you still recommend to go for the M size if I’m 6’3” - Canyon site recommends size L/XL with their sizing calculator. Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
It depends on your proportions and your preferences. At 6'3" you're pushing the size on a medium, and a Large is likely to suit you better. XL would be the choice if you want maximum stability.
Battery/motor rattle ??
I got the underdog version a few weeks ago and haven’t heard any rattle, thing is dialed. My one complaint is that it arrived with the Bosch logo motor cover/cap detached at the bottom of the box
@@russellwixom2261 nice, thanks dude. Been only buying Levo’s and that thing is sooo quiet. Cant go with anything that rattles after that lol
Love that you guys are doing a "budget" category this year. This bike looks great on paper, but man is it ugly. 😂
whats so ugly about this bike? looks like every full suspension bike out there....just the bottom tube looks big but thats just battery bulk....id say specialized levo gotta be ugliest ebike out there....
Can you please give away me a mtb because my birthday is near and my dad said to buy mtb but he said he can't afford a mtb watching from kirtipur Kathmandu nepal
Send me your address!
Lol
Get a job and work hard. You can do it I believe in you.
It would only get stolen from the Monks E-Bike gang. 😁
Me too
ffs, it is a 5 minute job to install a token; any, ANY, rider would do that...but not you guys...and it is a 750 battery..no one buys it with 600.
edit. I don't appreciate necessarily canyon but, they have produced a RACE bike; these are made to be ridden fast..not like the flimsy american short bikes like that dog-pile Ari(who have you guys on their payroll😉), almost trail bikes in behaviour.
@@TheLoamWolf seeing these two made me realise I don't want or need to see the others; It is a complete come down in form from you guys.
We're sorry to hear that. We're also a bit confused with your rather aggressive comments. We actually praised the Canyon for being rather progressive in its suspension. We thought the review of the Canyon was overall very positive, especially the final closing thoughts. And, if you check the Grand Finale, coming soon, you'll certainly see that again.
Similarly, we're very aware that not everyone is looking for a "RACE" bike as you called it, there are lots of older folks, newer riders and enthusiasts who simply want to have an assisted ride, which we very clearly said the shorter travel, lesser-powered Ari would be an option for. And lastly, Canyon does sell 625WH batteries on the StriveON, and that's how it was sent to us for review. So, again, we're a bit confused as to where all the negative energy is coming from, but, hopefully that helps clarify. And if not, happy trails.
Did you even watch the Ari review? Nothing made me think they were being fed by Ari, in fact they were pretty critical of the bike and their decision to save on motor instead of suspension components like most other companies.
