Honestly, I'm just so glad I am not a teenager in this day and age. Back in my days, I could be as cringe as I wanted in (relative) peace lol. I shudder to think what it would be like to have all that crap immortalized on the internet forever.
Doing and saying silly and dumb shit is absolutely fine at a certain age, for any generation, but we would never have *intentionally* recorded and broadcast it worldwide for all eternity. That's the baffling part.
The majority of TikTok is one of two things. It's either the dumbest most unfunny thing you've ever seen, or a chick in a lowcut top playing an easy rift.
It seems like the younger generation is craving the vilification we got as young metalheads in the 80s and 90s. Unfortunately for them, there is no comparison. Kardashians are wearing metal shirts. When I was young, people were getting life sentences for crimes they didn't commit because they listened to heavy metal. It's not the same.
That clip of the guy roasting what Rob Zombie songs are like reminds me of this tweet I saw where someone said something along the lines of “System Of A Down songs are all like IM THE MUSHROOM MAN! IM THE MUSHROOM MAN! OooOOOOoooOoooHh. In 2003 Amnesty International released reports of human rights violations by the U.S. military…”
I love Mike. This is like the old man yelling at cloud meme, except in UA-cam form lol. edit: After further analysis, Tik Tok is as bad as I thought it was, I understand the pain Mike went through in this video.
My buddy had never been to a concert before, let alone a metal mosh pit gig. He's a country boy. Had extra tix to Volbeat and Anthrax. Oh, yes...he was introduced suddenly and without warning (and totally intentionally lol) to the pit. But same night there was a bunch of kids there too, and we guarded off a section where all the 8 and 10 and 5 year olds got to bouncy house off each other for a song or three. It was goddamn adorable. Buddy told me he hates the music, but he'd come along to another show anytime. He didn't believe me when I said Volbeat was tame, so i introduced him to Static-X.
As an actual metalhead and teenager this hoolaginism makes no sense to me. And the fact people can’t watch something or listen to something for more than 10 seconds to a minute is genuinely upsetting and sad because long ass songs like the thing that should not be or like solway Firth are actually pretty good this is a giant run on sentence that doesn’t make sense but I feel I just had to say it
Metalhead TikTok and IG Reels are pretty much the same. It's either the gatekeeping type or the "Look bro, I can headbang" type and play different songs in different places around their houses Also, love the editing in this video. I'll never get tired of saying it 😆
I enjoy a good roast. I also enjoy when someone can back up those roasts with knowledge. So yes, this is my favorite UA-cam channel, thanks for asking 🙏
I did a college presentaiton were I played a variety of metal songs in a pitch to get people to try different music. The kids posting this shit must be hyperfocusing on one or two off comments or just creating them in their head cuz reception was awesome and the only negative comments I've heard in my life about metal was that it was too loud. Mainly commenting for the algorithm but I hope anyone reading has a great day.
I'm gen Z and grew up with cassettes, CDs, and streaming. I got into LPs in my late teens. That Master of Puppets bit is kinda true because I have fallen asleep to that on the train or if I'm trying to listen to an album for the first time, sometimes I'm just so tired that even while listening to "loud" or "extreme" music, I just fall asleep even while I'm trying to pay attention. Caffeine also gives me the paradoxical effect most of the time and sometimes ironic.
@IchigoMatsumoto1889 In practical terms, yes. However, you can get better sound quality out of them with the right gear than the average person thinks you can. Modern decks aren't fully up to the same standard as vintage high-end ones yet and they apparently don't have the licensing for Dolby Noise Reduction specifically so they implement something else but you can also get new cassettes since they made a comeback although not as big as vinyl did. Cassette decks don't require a ton of setup but they require more internal maintenance than turntables. You can also still get full-size CD and SACD decks.
I already knew TikTok was bad just based on its reputation but after having seen this compilation, i never would have guessed it was this braindead. Thank god i don't use the app.
It is everything idiotic and cringey about social media condensed down into the ultimate (garbage) platform. I am worried it is going to usher in the end of western civilization. Lol.
