Almost ALL of James Dean's personal possessions at the time of his death are located at www.thejamesdeanmuseum.com in Fairmount Indiana. When he died, Dean's personal belongings went to his family, who have generously displayed it to the public in Fairmount, Indiana.
Museum curator and docent Dorothy Schultz gave us a tour!

The fact the family didn’t auction anything is a testament to their love of family over money!❤
No joke!!! This stuff is worth a fortune!!!
Insane, I can’t believe it. Most families would sell the stuff, you would imagine
@@mitchelleroberson I am scared to death that this stuff might be burglarized!!!!!
The Estate still brings in 5 million a year.
@@clarkharvell5242 right! I wanted to go to the James dean museum since I read about it though! I haven’t used fb in literal years, but I can remember I used to follow the museums page and I wished I could go to it in Indiana. I hope that never happens, isn’t some pieces from the car like missing aren’t they?
My dad visited the museum and stayed with the family. He could not stress enough how kind and generous they were. Sitting around the dinner table talking about Jimmie with such love. He was deeply touched and honored to go and see them.
Jimmy
How precious! Only family and his deepest dearest friends would lovingly gather and keep James’ personal items together. AMAZING
At the 5:46 mark, those figures Jimmy used to make his stop-motion film. I believe it is shown in the film, The James Dean Story. At the 7:22 mark, that is a death mask that Kenneth Kendall made. I used to own one that I bought from Kenneth. I knew Kenneth, went to two James Dean birthday parties he hosted at his home in Los Angeles. I went to one in 1997, Frank Mazzola and Maila Nurmi, aka Vampira, were there. Also the actor Damian Chapa was there. The second birthday party I went to was in February 2006. Sadly, Kenneth died less than nine months later. I used to talk to him sometimes on the phone. Very nice man. May they all rest in peace.
How lovely was Dorothy, what a knowledgeable lady of all the items.
I would love to have the chance to visit there someday and pay my respects.
I think Ill watch Giant tonight, James was truly wonderful in it!
Thank you for the great vlog, Scott!!!
Rest in Peace, James Dean.🌹
I was thinking about that movie the other day! How could anybody forget that one? And that ending !!!
@@mitchelleroberson
I remember when I first watched it, I rolled my eyes & thought...🙄 "Another western" 🥱
Yes, great ending! I always get nervous during the fight scene, Rock, slipping in his cowboy boots , on that already slippery linoleum! 🫣
But yes, always cry at the end! 😢
Dorothy is the MVP of the museum. What knowledge, what passion!
That curator was so amazing. She loves her work and it shows! Thanks for introducing us to her!
I have a poster of James Dean in my classroom. I get so disheartened when all of my students keep asking me who he is.
Thank you Scott Michaels for keeping his (and many more golden-age Hollywood stars) memories alive.
I'm glad you have a poster of James Dean and not a big rainbow/whatever-it-is flag hanging all over....
How cool is this!? A wonderful museum, well arranged and presented. Kudos to the curator, staff, and family.
Dorothy is truly adorable,
and I ❤ her enthusiasm❣
Wonderful to hear/see
Jordan the Lion in this precious
upload, too. 👍👍
I hope to visit this
intriguing/magical museum. 💖
You Hit A Grandslam.With Your Comment.😂😂😂😂 Richard.
I've been watching you and Jordan on your trip of Route 66. Thanks for stopping in my great State of Indiana and Fairmount. I've been to the James Dean museum and his grave several times. It's amazing how many of his things they have. A treasure for sure. Safe travels!
Awwww James Dean ❤❤❤❤❤ he died too soon 😞
It's wonderful how much of an impact he made in his short life and how people are still loving him today. ❤️
Love the old red house where the museum currently is located, it really has a vibe... But it's good that another building that has more space will be opening to showcase all of these amazing pieces from James' life. Thanks, Scott, Dorothy and Jordan. RIP James Dean ❤️🌈 🕊️💫
Mannn,, Jordan has been eating really good....Great content guys, plz keep em coming.
I loved the curator’s enthusiasm for the museum. She truly loves her work! I also love that Jordan tagged along with Scott to the museum and he tagged along with Jordan to the Mickey Mantel house! You guys are the best!
Love this❤. He was very handsome.❤
That’s cool James would be proud.
Thanks Scott 👍 Pretty Cool !!
Great video! Thank u Scott! I didnt even recognize Jordan but I knew his voice for sure!
She is a breath of fresh air.
I'm 76 he would be 92 oh my! RIP James! What a good family for keeping his things. Thanks Scott this was a great video!
I can only imagine how much all of this would go at auction. Its amazing that the family hasn’t done that because most families would just want the money. I love the motorcycles. So cool. She has the typical friendly personality/attitude because she is from the Mid-West. People from the Mid-West have that quality. I know from being born in the Mid-West. St. Louis, MO.
As far as some of the items that'll be displayed at the new museum, I wonder if it'll be one of the iconic Rebel without a cause red Jackets? or a cowboy hat in Giant? that'll be awesome. Dorothy seemed adorable and such a fan of Dean. Loved the video Scott.
I was thinking Rebel jacket too!
Dorothy is Wonderful!!
I love visiting Fairmount and the museum. Dorothy is wonderful! It makes me want to go back soon
I went to the museum a couple of years ago and Dorothy gave me a personal tour. We spoke about Scott as I am a big fan and I had met him on his former Dearly Departed Tour in Cali. Dorothy is a wonderful, caring person who is dedicated to keeping James Dean's spirit alive and she does a great job of it. Now I know I may have to take another trip to Fairmount to see the new museum. I hope my brother can come along.
I bet his spirit is still attached to his things and that's why you can feel him there. Thx for sharing this. I am disabled and probably never get a chance to visit in person. 🕯JD
Love it Scott!
The James Dean museum has got to be the very best museum dedicated to anyone. They have everything.
Yeah I live north of there
She's adorable, by the way. What a wonderful public rep for the Dean legacy.
Damn! I drove right by Fairmount today to visit my son in Kokomo! Wish I could have met you there…my Mom went to Marion HS….she’s 87 so she was right behind him. Great museum! The festival is fab. Jordan too!!! Damn
Scott, please let us know what 'the new things' are when you find out. This was a great vid. Fun to see Jordan, too!
Great vlog. Really interesting seeing all James's possessions.Haha,especially James's pole,Scott wanted to touch,hahaha 😂.
This was an amazing museum . i never realized that james dean was athletic . very cool 😎 Scott , thank you so much for taking all us with you on this adventure . Dorothy was so sweet and informative
Hello from South Carolina Scott. What an awesome video. I always watch your videos because they are always the best.
Dorothy is lovely! What a great video. Thank you so much! ❤️
Saw jane withers interviewed si.e years ago. She was a very close friend of james dean. She was telling she had a pink western shirt of his. He had been telling her right before he died that the laundromat kept losing his shirts and that he didnt want to lose that shirt. Jane told him she would wash his shirt. Well, he was killed and she kept the shirt and said she would never part with it. Jane died recently and im wondering if you know what happened to his shirt???
I so want to visit! I’ll plan for the grand opening too!
I’m loving your Route 66 road trip with Jordon the Lion ❤ Will you have videos from the trip as well?
I went to the museum when I was going to school in Minneapolis in 1996-Memorial Day weekend, in fact (travel tip-do NOT go to Indiana during Memorial Day weekend, which is also Indy 500 weekend). Anyhow…
I’ve always adored James Dean, and I was fascinated by everything on display. I’d love to go back and see what I remember and what’s new. I went to his resting place and left flowers. RIP Jimmy ❤️…I’ll get back to you someday.
thank you for posting this!
Love hearing of Classic Hollywood. I was definitely born in the wrong era
FYI...the Garfield outside the museum is part of The Garfield Trail. There are 13 other Garfields around the area people drive and see. I think their is one in the Muncie Welcome Center too. It is autographed.
That was phenomenal!!
Loved this Scott ❤
Gosh what a stunning museum for James Dean...
Wowza!
His motorcycles! Cool even nearly 70 years on.
💪
I've been their! One of my James Dean poems is there in the 3-ring binder.
The Bible is clear, the dead know not anything. There is no such thing as ghost or spirits roaming the earth.
That town is a magical place--authentic, with no cheap tourist trappings. Good people. Be sure to visit Lenny and David at the James Dean Gallery down th street! Its as great as the museum. I was walking through town early in the morning and Lenny was riding his bike down the road and invited me over! I kind of hate they are moving out of that cool historic church building.
It warms my heart to see this fabulous museum. Its really is a testament of Love ! 💝💖💗💓💞💕
A wonderful way of interviewing. I very much enjoyed it.
Love James Dean❣️ Thank you for this upload 😊
🙏❤️🕊️
I really think had JD lived longer he could have been near Elvis icon status! That lady is so cool and knowledgeable, and you can really tell she too is a big fan.
Thank YOu Scott for this! Awesome!
Awesome, Scott. So I can see the museum virtually. Eventually I hope to visit the museum myself. Safe travels home.
Thank you Scott and Jordan for this video! Dorothy thank you for giving a wonderful tour! I can't wait to visit one day!!!!!
Thank you, for doing this vlog. As a fellow Hoosier, love the legacy of James Dean. His family is awesome. Love the museum and the curator. Can't wait for the opening of the new museum facilities!
I honestly couldn't say when /how I first heard of Jimmy.. One of the first VHS tapes I begged my parents for back in the 80's was Rebel. There's currently a 5x7 of him sitting on my kitchen counter. .along with one of my other favorites who died far too young - River Phoenix. Always love when you do your Jimmy vids. Safe travels!
Been to Fairmount MANY times! We go for the BIG Sept car show, "The James Dean Run". Will be there THIS September, too. Highlight is taking a photo of my '62 Mercury with James Dean's headstone.
I have to Thank You for going to all these locations! I may never make it to a lot of them This was an Amazing journey ❤
Exciting news about a new museum !!! You and Jordan have to vlog it Scott !! This museum is wonderful and Dorothy is adorable !

Hope you enjoyed that day & this one! XO
Thank you so much for your generous donation! He was indeed a great guy
Great video. I bet the new museum is going to be awesome. Rest in peace James.
Bittersweet about moving to the new museum, the old is so cool and has such a great, historical vibe. I have TONS of relatives buried in that cemetery and even some are in photos in the museum itself. Went to buy a Fairmount Quakers t-shirt, as my family was a part of the Quaker community there, but they didn't have my size! Thanks for sharing this, Scott, it was great!
I didn’t have time to watch, but that thumbnail had the happiest mugger and mugging victim I’ve ever seen.
Great James Dean video, keep them coming
Great video and amazing items that have been preserved with love.
Great video ..can’t get enough of James Dean.
You're so lucky to have visited the museum. Thanks for the tour🙂
I'm so glad 2 of my favorite vloggers are great friends. Jordan the Lion and Scott Michaels. Thanks gentleman for all that you do.

That was fun Scott! Thank you. Where to next?
Thank you!! Can’t wait for the new museum!! 🎉
Great video!!! You guys keep calling him Jimmy Dean is making me want one of them Sausage Egg & Cheese English Muffin Sandwiches.
Awesome !!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Went to the museum still have a brick from the high school James Dean attended went too his grave got pictures of his headstone his grandfathers calvin and went to his mother's grave it was truly a humbling experience also stood on the old high school stage thats now in a park in town
Do you know when the stage at the park would be open? I've been to Fairmount a couple times and the stage is always behind closed doors...
Fascinating. Nice job Scott!
Born and raised in Fairmount. My mom still lives there along with most of my family. I could have shown you a lot of Jimmies old stomping grounds. Places he's lived and let you talk to a couple of his classmates.
But great video.
That's amazing, what rich history!
Very cool museum and video, makes me want to visit it soon! Thanks for bringing it to my attention, cant wait to see it in person.
The part that she talks about the Triumph still leaking oil. I am the one over 20 to 25 years ago found a fresh puddle of oil under it. The thing of it was when we first went in the museum and looked at that bike there was no oil at all , when we circled back to that bike is when I saw it and at that time the curator said they never noticed it leaking before. It was just funny to me that they would be joking about it today. I use to live up in Alexandria Indiana which is just right down the road from there.
Love this! Dorothy is so sweet. Can't wait to visit Fairmont. So cool. Thank you Scott.
Thanks Scott! This is AWESOME!
I knew hardly nothing about James dean before watching this video and even I am impressed and so touched by this presentation. The warmth exudes from this video and the love from his family still endures. Its incredible! He was a very blessed young man now soul.
Wow…fascinating video especially the motor cycles…thanks for showing us.

So enthusiastic and full of energy she is...a perfect person to help represent the life and playful nature of james dean himself.
