Thank you for including Jack Wild in part 2. For so many of us late Boomers, he was our first crush and has a unique place in our hearts. I encourage anyone who loved him to read his posthumously published autobiography “It’s a Dodgers Life.” It’s written in his distinctive voice and is a wonderful read. Many talk of his alcoholism, but he was sober at the end, bravely battling mouth cancer. Even when he lost his voice to the cancer, he acted on stage in pantomime.
I LOVED HR Puffenstuff! I had a crush on Jimmy and Flute. My mother lived Witchie Poo. Ahhh...gone are the years of wholesome children's programming; those years of innocence.
A shout out to “Are You Being Served?” and Mollie Sugden as Mrs. Slocombe. Great Show! Thanks for another great video. If you get a chance look up a very funny story about Christopher Hewett while playing Mr. Belvedere. It’s a doozy!
Great how you played a clip of every one of Holst' Planets pieces! Nice filming by Richard Brown too! Tony Hart! I grew up with him when i lived in England ! Saeed Jaffrey too! John Henry Bonham! Boris Karloff! So many great graves! Nicely done video!
Maybe, but did you ever see "Gods and Monsters," a fictionalized story of the last days of James Whale, who directed Karloff in "Frankenstein" and other movies? In it Whale tries to avoid Karloff at a party, because he considers him so unbearably boring! Still, it's fiction.
@@jamesclendon4811, in his final days, Karloff was approached by Fellini to appear in a film of his. "it really set me up!" he told his agent. Alas, the world was to be deprived of such a unique bit of casting.....
I have read many accounts and have heard tales that Mr. Karloff was wonderful to work with and gracious and kind to everyone. He suffered through that Frankenstein and monster makeup, with no complaints. In his last appearance when he was gravely ill, he pushed through and finished asking for no special treatment. He was a talent and a gentleman. I cannot imagine the Grinch without him.RIP without your talents the Universal Monsters would not be.
James Clendon I read countless accounts of Mr Karloff being interesting, kind, caring & an interesting man! Everyone loved him & he had such interesting stories to tell! I am sure people have their own “spin on every event”( in order to sell books & make their own book “less boring!”🤣Ha!) but by all accounts Mr. Karloff was quite an interesting, well rounded man( never complained about hrs silent in wardrobe either both putting in that makeup & taking it off for the movie( quite the ordeal I read!) ! Take Care!❤️
I'm definitely learning some new names and people in this one. So many of them I do not know. Tony Hart was the surprising one. The cemetery looked like it could use a little more care. His marker looked like it was placed there 100 years ago but he died just 11 years ago. Loved seeing Bonham and all the drumsticks! And of course I'm a huge fan of Boris Karloff! Thank you for taking us on another tour!
@TheRenaissanceman65 I'm having trouble understanding the wear on the marker though. Why does it look so old? 2009 but it looks like its from the early 1900's.
Alan Rickman...😢An extraordinary actor & man! He was amazing & loved all the movies he was in! He died much to early & so very young ! I tested up as well when he mentioned their names! May they both Rest In Peace!❤️
Thank you for another wonderful episode . So many childhood memories of these fantastic actors and actresses. Alan Rickman is still sorely missed . Thanks again .
Such a sad way to leave this Earth for such an iconic legend who's talent was un foretold. It was Bohemian Rhapsody that introduced me to Queen and remains a personal favorite of mine. Freddie Mercury like Elvis Presley will never be replaced,
Beautiful English churches. Amazing graves, so gothic and inspiring. Adore Margaret Rutherford, the best Miss Marple and June Whitfield forever funny! Great episode!!! Love Sharon in England 🏴 xxxxx 💖
The more I've seen of Boris Karloff's film, tv and radio work, the more I've realized what an enormous range the fellow had as an actor, i.e., horror, comedy and drama. He was instrumental in helping to unionize Hollywood actors in the SAG starting in 1933. By all accounts, he was also a very decent human being in his personal life and did a lot of charitable work. I am delighted to see he still has fans.
Another home run for Arthur Dark and Richard Brown! I can't wait to see installment number 3. I have really enjoyed this series from California, the U.S., and all over the world.
I've said this before but man you are one of the very few people on here that make content so good that a 40 minute video isn't a slog to get through but a joy.
Led Zeppelin helped me in so many ways, my friend 'the boy next door' introduced me to Led Zeppelin a gift he gave me, he passed away last October, I was having a hard time listening to the music that brought me so much healing, it was sounding different was it because it was my connection to him, what he gave me, the gift of losing myself into the music, to escape from hell, to give me the gift of drawing what I see and feel....the gift of Tolkien, mighty arms of Atlas. winds of Thor, the darkest depths of Mordor.......the boy next door finally I the music was reaching to me again......thanks to the boy next door Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light To chase a feather in the wind Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight There moves a thread that has no end For many hours and days that pass ever soon The tides have caused the flame to dim At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom Is this to end or just begin? The cup is raised, the toast is made yet again One voice is clear above the din Proud Arianne one word, my will to sustain For me, the cloth once more to spin Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time His is the force that lies within Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find He is a feather in the wind All of my love to you now.... Sometimes.......Sometimes I get a little bit lonely......Just a little
Wonderful. I really enjoy these. So many memories. I grew up in the 60s/70s to some of these. I'd forgotten all about Derek Nimmo. I can hear that soft voice of his in my head right now. Tony Hart too. Thank you.
I'm glad you mentioned Chichester Cathedral it's very close to my hometown I used to just go light a candle and just sit there. A really beautiful building.

Holst’s “Jupiter” has a hymn called “I vow to thee my country” set to it and it was sang at Princess Diana’s funeral as it was her favourite hymn. Sports fans may recognise it as rugby union’s World Cup theme “world in union”.
@TheRenaissanceman65 I've never been to an Anglican church. Allow me to rephrase my comment: It is also used as the music for a hymn we sing in the Catholic Church, and other churches I'm sure, entitled "O, God Beyond All Praising".
Another fabulous video. The photography is superb, showing the beautiful and historic churches at their very best. I hope that viewers in other countries will be encouraged to visit our amazing country. As always, entertaining and very informative. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, Arthur.
Me too! He does such a comprehensive list of “all people” not just the top echelon of the extremely famous but “all levels of accomplishments!” I so love the job he dies for so many people loved all these different people for so many different reasons! All are accomplished & amazing! He covers them all & I so love that!❤️

Great video as usual. So Surprising all the people who have past like Jack Wild , that I was not even aware. Also, the grave stones look much older and weathered.
Dame Celia Johnson - amazing. Thanks for showing this. I still love "Brief Encounter". I cannot begin to imagine how much effort editing these videos takes - I really appreciate the care and thought you put into this channel.

Perfectly written and narrated, I could listen to Arthur Dark all day.
I agree 100% #yank
I have benge watched him all today. He reminds me of my youngest son. But, I absolutely love his show. I totally agree!
I pretty much do lol I love listening to these videos. I wish he'd narrate an audio book

I can't believe the state of Tony Hart's stone. He inspired my artistic side as a child. One of my heroes.

Arthur Dark is a genius and this should be a syndicated show on Discovery channel
Nooo he will lose his freedom! Play stay here, Mr. Dark
Good point.
Yes he is and yes it should be on Discovery

Totally agree!
Hard to believe this month marks the 40th anniversary of Bonham’s death....he is still dearly missed.
Unforgettable Bonzo...
I remember it well. Such a huge loss
I remember that day well. I was lucky enough to see Led Zeppelin in 1977. His legendary drumming is carrying on by his son.

Glad I did

Lovely to see how much knowledge and respect an American has for British culture, thanks.

Her co-star Arthur English was featured in this episode. I was hoping Mollie Sugden and Wendy Richard would've been featured as well.
Are You Being Served was my favorite comedy!
Are you referring to him sitting on his balls?
Mike Minnick yes, but to hear Bob Uker tell the story. It was pretty funny and probably most embarrassing for Mr. Hewett.
Kelly Pogue I’m glad he pointed out Mr. English, otherwise I wouldn’t have recognized him.🙃
Great how you played a clip of every one of Holst' Planets pieces! Nice filming by Richard Brown too! Tony Hart! I grew up with him when i lived in England ! Saeed Jaffrey too! John Henry Bonham! Boris Karloff! So many great graves! Nicely done video!

Dame Celia Johnson - amazing. Thanks for showing this. I still love "Brief Encounter". I cannot begin to imagine how much effort editing these videos takes - I really appreciate the care and thought you put into this channel.
Love this episode Arthur! Thanks for doing Freddie Mercury💚
I LOVED the clip of Alice Liddell! That was fantastic to see and hear! Thank you again, Arthur, for a magnificent presentation!!!
Arthur should do one on "Hammer Horror". Would be interesting to know where some of the people who worked at Hammer Films are 'sleeping'.
why don't you let Arthur do what he wants?
Christopher Lee Peter cushion
"Sir cumference". lol That's brilliant.
