The dropout regulars are killing it (this episode convinced me that Trapp and Siobhan need to do all their scenes together, insane comedic chemistry) and the guest players are literally jaw-droppingly incredible. As someone who knows Hank Green as my tiktok uncle watching him play a genuinely menacing character is so terrifying, and I'm convinced Alex is the funniest person on the planet. And Freddie Wong coming in hot with that Dan Fucks persona giving Matt Berry flamboyance!!! As a longtime D20 fan who can't decide what their fave season is, this one's already making a strong case for itself.

...but you're never gonna do that!" Hank Green said that as a fact. Not as a request, an order or a command, but as a fucking fact. He said it as if it was true, because he made it true. I swear if he went into security work literally no one would ever argue with him.
The confused terror that Hank is able to instil using only intense eye contact and snake dicks is absolute *chef's kiss* and I feel genuinely terrified of the Fix, every hat off to you sir. Holy cow.
Okay, really cute detail. The sound effect they use when switching to The Daily Observer, is the opening of the Don't Laugh News Network... Also this gang is insane and I love them all
This is so friggin' good. The premise, the cast, the characters, the NPCs, the interactions, the set, the sound design... and what a genius Brennan is. I'm seriously gonna have to consider a subscription to Dropout for this.
Darn, that was so good. Never boring , lots of great roleplay and improv yet no one falls into the voice actor trap. Shit, that's refreshing. Hank, mein Gott, you rock.
I get the feeling all of them will get a part of an iconic Film Noir story arc to themselves The Fix - The last score before he retired (and adopted his card daughter, lizard son, Conrad and Justin) Conrad - The littlest urchin comes to Great Expectations ala Annie or Pip Imelda - I never dids what I said I dids but I dids do it - Classic Femme Fatale fare A Tension - the big story almost killed me/ the odd couple (if Danielle and Trapp don't utilise that tension even into a better friendship I'll be so sad) Hunch - The Dick Tracy finally gets big Dan - Redemption arc/ Double down
I absolutely love a well done punching bag character in comedy, but they're very hard to pull off. Alex absolutely nails that character immediately and I can't wait to see where the rest of this season goes!
Hank Green plays his character extremely well, I honestly paid $5 for a dropout subscription just so i could see all the episodes, and let me tell you. He's absolutely phenomenal, he has some of the most thought provoking monologues as well as wholesome & terrifying moments. Ive known him from SciShow for years now but this was an absolute performance on his end. My favorite character so far besides Conrad and Curio.
Ngl, not even sure why, but my hype and expectations for this season we’re middling going into it. But this first episode was genuinely so much goddamn fun to watch I think it might be one of my favorites already lmao! The characters, the setting, the player’s energy, and the set are all so good! So. Freaking. Good. Awesome concept, awesome cast. Love seeing Siobhan in a sidequest, and super jazzed for more Danielle Radford & Trap! Hank & Freddie are awesome gets, and Alex KILLS it in this episode! Loving it so far.❤

Hunch and A. Tension I ship it. Conrad needs to find a way to get a set of those keys
Love Conrad; so sad, so adorable! Makes me react how Erika's character reacted to Brennan's character in Mischief and Magic.
Is there supposed to be a pun with his name? If so I don’t get it.
@@skystrike41508 Conrad can be shortened to Con, becoming Conscience.
@@skystrike41508 Con Shintz...
Look, you gotta get- your wand...
I absolutely ADORE the work that the lighting and set crew have done! 😮💨 When the dome shifted to Hunch’s office and the lights from the shuttered window (that’s NOT THERE AT ALL) cast on Brennan’s face?? 🤯
Been watching Dimension 20 for a while now and never knew the dome is actually a screen 🤣🤣
@@fammnak852 me neither! I thought they were white panels with LED strips on the black parts 😂
my thoughts exactly! The shadow at Hunch's office is brilliant too!! @@m1tz1pop98
Those shapes of light coming through blinds could be made with what's called a gobo, very cool! great lighting design all around
@@clairerousell a gobo? I love learning new words and things, gobo sounds so precious 🥺
I watched this on dropout now im watching it again here for the algorithm, I can't stress enough how this is my favorite setting already.
“We are not animals” perhaps the great line ever on DO.
Trapp & Siobhan were a great combo on the "Medieval Black Mirror" CH skit
This has got to be one of my favourite seasons so far. I love the puns, the overall theme, and all of the characters! I think that this has potential for a full 20 episode series! Sadly, it's only 6 episodes, but 6 great ones I bet! ❤
You made me so sad. I thought it was gonna be 10 episodes for some reason.
Why are their best ones so short!?
Misfits and Magic was, what, 4 episodes?
@@AHDBification maybe they don't have a lot to say?
@@human_collector0 I would imagine scheduling was probably a big part of things. They're all busy people after all.
@@YawnBlueI sorta wonder if it got too difficult for Hank Green considering everything. ik my brother was exhausted by chemo n had to stop working, he couldn’t even walk his dog for a while.
One of my favourite first episodes ever. Everyone's characters are beautifully realised and they already working together as a team (for jokes mostly at the moment).
Also love seeing Brennan have so much fun. My several of my special interests smashed together leading to my fave season? Big Hank Green yes
36:12 I noticed while rewatching a little hint that Anastasia is part of the Pulse family. Freddy Focus says, "the people whose name you are so graciously not using," clearly referring to her family connections.
My favorite part about Brennan’s DM style is that he almost never says anything that isn’t going to end up being important.
wow the design for M. Bition is actually sick, 1:03:50 his devil tail also being a stock market graph going upwards, AND a tie with the little tie clip, while still looking like a devil tail. whoever drew that, good job
Can I say how happy I am to see Hank Green on here? He is without a doubt one of my favorite UA-camrs (alongside his brother) so this is right up my alley.
...but you're never gonna do that!"
Hank Green said that as a fact. Not as a request, an order or a command, but as a fucking fact. He said it as if it was true, because he made it true.
I swear if he went into security work literally no one would ever argue with him.
I’m here because I heard Freddy Wong say on Dungeons and Daddies that his character was Dan Fucks. All I needed to hear.
Honestly, Hank choosing to get caught was a super smart move, in terms of realism😮
As a former neuroscience major i eagerly await the punnery of this season
As a current neuroscience major I am pumped for this season!
I was hoping to hear what Noril's sisters name was. Any suggestions?
@@xerothedarkstarMaybe just Nora?
@@xerothedarkstarpathological HAS to be one
Alex Song-Xia is on a whole other level with this character
The Fix and Madam Loathing's whole scene was so powerful, holy cow. I got chills.
Sheesh, THREE Nat 1s in a row? Did Murph give Danielle those dice?
My thought exactly lololol
Nah, Will Weaton. 😈😂
The confused terror that Hank is able to instil using only intense eye contact and snake dicks is absolute *chef's kiss* and I feel genuinely terrified of the Fix, every hat off to you sir. Holy cow.
1:40:51 every Conrad line in this scene is GOLDEN, my favourite TTRPG character in a WHILE
Adding Hank Green to the cast almost made me cry from excitement. I love this!
Hank is so menacing that he gave chills down my spine.
Okay, really cute detail. The sound effect they use when switching to The Daily Observer, is the opening of the Don't Laugh News Network...
Also this gang is insane and I love them all
Hank absolutely killed it, holy crap. I love The Fix
I haven't seen the series, but I'm calling it now: Mr. Lance's full name is gonna be Virgil Lance.
Hank Green explained the premise of this show and thus i am here! No regrets!
This is so friggin' good. The premise, the cast, the characters, the NPCs, the interactions, the set, the sound design... and what a genius Brennan is. I'm seriously gonna have to consider a subscription to Dropout for this.
Bro just do it it’s so f***ing worth it
All i could think of during this episode is "what if there was a guy called Adrien Lynn" and that's how you know the pun world building is good
33:00 love that my brain immediately registered this as the Breaking News intro lmao
GOD FUCKING DAMIT SAME I HAD A NEWS REPORTER ASSIGNMENT LAST MONTH AND IT'S THE EXACT SAME SHIT I USED FOR MY BGM HAHAHAHAHAHA
Darn, that was so good. Never boring , lots of great roleplay and improv yet no one falls into the voice actor trap. Shit, that's refreshing. Hank, mein Gott, you rock.
What's the voice actor trap?
@@Crvknightthat's Mike over there playing the gumshoe. He's more of a writer than a voice actor though 🤡
Dying over Hank’s little sunshine smile after being told his speech was terrifying
I feel like Trapp is supposed to be a main character, but Hank is the real main character, channeling Nicholas Cage in his speech.
I get the feeling all of them will get a part of an iconic Film Noir story arc to themselves
The Fix - The last score before he retired (and adopted his card daughter, lizard son, Conrad and Justin)
Conrad - The littlest urchin comes to Great Expectations ala Annie or Pip
Imelda - I never dids what I said I dids but I dids do it - Classic Femme Fatale fare
A Tension - the big story almost killed me/ the odd couple (if Danielle and Trapp don't utilise that tension even into a better friendship I'll be so sad)
Hunch - The Dick Tracy finally gets big
Dan - Redemption arc/ Double down
I got more of a Chris Walken sort of menace.
@@Firegen1 It's crazy how you more or less predicted everyone's story. Well played.
the graphic design of the character files is so so gorgeous
I absolutely love a well done punching bag character in comedy, but they're very hard to pull off. Alex absolutely nails that character immediately and I can't wait to see where the rest of this season goes!
Absolutely love that Dan Fucks has the verbal cadence of any Matt Berry character
YESSSS I was looking for a comment like this! What a great choice
As someone named Elias, I think this series will be funky to watch (in a fantastic way)
Immediately the most I’ve ever appreciated Trapp. Brainstorm. Of COURSE.
I love Siobhan's fake name. My "obviously not my real name" name is Steve McRealname, so I love to see something in a very similar vein.
I like how the fix has the most distracting facts. Like how do they keep in character after that!
The big guy is having a burnout - depression - nervous breakdown wombo combo!
If you aren’t watching with the closed captioning on, turn it on and watch 54:20 it’s incredible!
Why is Mike Trapp so good at being incredibly funny? I think this guy might be doing comedy or somethin' for a living.
Ngl, not even sure why, but my hype and expectations for this season we’re middling going into it. But this first episode was genuinely so much goddamn fun to watch I think it might be one of my favorites already lmao! The characters, the setting, the player’s energy, and the set are all so good! I’m looking forward to every episode.
Brennan is a force of positivity and good in this world that I just can't fathom existing in human form. I hope he is staying well!

Dimension 20 always comes out of the gate super strong but this a particularly great first episode!
So. Freaking. Good.
Awesome concept, awesome cast.
Love seeing Siobhan in a sidequest, and super jazzed for more Danielle Radford & Trap!
Hank & Freddie are awesome gets, and Alex KILLS it in this episode!
Loving it so far.❤
Hol'up.... Are the moxie points marbles? IS THE BIG GUY LITERALLY LOSING HIS MARBLES?! 😂 I can't. These guys are freaking geniuses. The endless brain puns are killing me, the fact it's done film noir style, the fact it's set around the great depression which, I mean... Depression is stored in the brain. The miniatures are so cool. This is brilliant. This is hilarious. It has marble runs and flashy lights. Ya'll are so beautifully creative.
This season has unquestionably become a standout favorite of mine. The clever wordplay, the overarching motif, and the entire ensemble of characters have all combined to make it an absolute delight.
Really interesting. Seems like the primary conflict is going to be conscience vs ambition, which absolutely makes sense.
You guys I cannot recommend dropout enough. The second episode alone makes it worth it
I love love love seating Hank Green right next to Freddy Wong. I never thought I would see the two of them in the same room, but to see them on the same show is an absolute delight
@1:34:23 hank trying desperately not to say yes he knows that fact. good on him for slipping back into the character
I never realized that the Osmosis Jones of the mind Campaign was something I so deeply needed. LOVE IT.
YESSS im so glad this episode is on youtube. Can't wait to convince all my friends to watch this
