      Do you know if Unter Den Linden is on spotify?

      @@chriz7074 I don't believe so Sadly. If it is I haven't had any luck finding it myself. I've been looking for it for a while now, I even tried searching the Album it was recorded on named "To Your Guard" but, to no avail! The German march by the same name is on Spotify but that's not the one we're looking for.

      There are a few recordings of Unter den Linden by Crosse on UA-cam. Including a 1933 recording by the Grenadier Guards.

    Are those fluglehorns in the third-row middle?

    • @Robinmuk

      Look like a Baritone? ie a Brass band Baritone, in between a tenor horn and a Euphonium in size.

      In between the tubas? Those are euphoniums!

    • @MikeM14-40
      @MikeM14-40 10 місяців тому +1

      @@Robinmuk No, those are Euphoniums - I should know, as I played one, on and off, for over 40 years! The UK Brass Band Baritone is the same basic pitch, B-flat, but looks much "thinner" because most of its tubing is of significantly smaller diameter which gives it a very different, lighter sound. The UK Brass Band Tenor Horn is smaller again, with a basic pitch of E-flat. I was there that day, and it was good to see and hear 2 euphoniums because quite often these days there seems to be only one, which is a pity because they often have the tune. In case anyone wants to know what a Euphonium sounds like, they're playing the tune at 1:58.
      Baritones and Tenor Horns aren't usually seen in UK military bands, but there are exceptions - see for example when the Band of the Household Cavalry are playing on horseback where I think one or both are used instead of French Horns, because a French Horn, supported by the player's hand being up the bell, would be almost impossible on horseback. Also see the British Army Brass Bands, such as Tidworth and Catterick, which use the full array of Brass Band instruments instead of the normal "military band" instruments.
      Also, to make things potentially more confusing, in USA I think they often call the Euphonium a Baritone, the Baritone a Tenor Horn, and the Tenor Horn an Alto Horn!
      Sorry to butt in, and I hope people don't find this too boring!
