Ryken's Notes: Orthus Offensive isn’t a great plasteel farm because the plasteel per minute spent is pretty sad.. On Damnation, the amount of plasteel you can get is fixed (275). But to get that 275 Plasteel, you need to run the entirety of the mission and get to the final arena in one piece. Because you always encounter the twins individually along the way, you must stop to fight them since the way forward is blocked. If you speedrun and rush ahead, pulling mobs and a monster or 2, there is a high probability you’ll wipe if you have to face a monster, a horde, a wave of specials, and BOTH the Twins before making it to the elevator. Assuming you can reach it in 6 minutes and then wipe the Twins within 4 minutes, that’s 10 minutes for 275 Plasteel - which gives us 27.5 Plasteel per-minute. A regular Damnation mission on quickplay can easily yield over 800 Plasteel in less than 20 minutes. This results in about 40 Plasteel per-minute (and likely even higher). In 20 minutes, at best you can get 2 Orthus Missions done, which nets you a total of 550 Plasteel - still less than a regular Damnation. It would take you 3 Orthus Offensive speedruns to match the Plasteel of a single Damnation Quickplay. Hardly worth the effort for the amount you get. Instead, the item farming efficiency is much, much better. Since as long as you complete the mission, you’ll have a very high chance of getting a Transcendent (orange-tier) item, your rewards scale with your speed and efficiency - something Plasteel doesn’t. In the time it takes to get 1 Orange item from Damnation, you would comfortably get 3 or even 4 Orange times from farming the Orthus Offensive - a much better return on time spent! Each Orange item is worth about 1500 Plasteel(?) assuming you upgrade one from white! FARM WHILE YOU CAN, ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED BLESSINGS!! Other notes: - Apparently the Eviscerator is also very, very strong - the melee equivalent of the Ripper Gun, and can tear apart the Ranged Twin’s Shield in a single blow! Having a Zealot (like a Redeemer) with a Ripper Gun Ogryn and a Focus Target Vet will probably yield the fastest possible clear. I think.. - For Psykers struggling to do damage and if you feel that playing as a traditional Psyker isn't working out for you, might I suggest trying this build out (Gunpsyker). It technically covers all the weaknesses I've mentioned and can hold its own in terms DPS and survivability. darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9add6d0a-7753-4ea9-aac9-f8a4fb978163/nils-hard-mode-gun-psyker

@julianfeo1995 i play with randoms all the time but to be fair i was using lightning stun psyker haven't tried this with other classes so i can only imagine its rough as a non cc psyker.
Had a dedicated team of friends going for the hard mode all day yesterday. We must have failed about 20 attempts before figuring it out. 2 Ogryns and 2 Vets with Focus made it seem easy. Vets dealt with horde clear and Ogryns just kept on the Twins. It was beautiful.
My two biggest tips: 1) Mind the gas. It's easy to get tunnel vision when a horde is on you, but when the gas is changing you gotta book it over to the new spot. Put down a marker ASAP to be a good team player. If someone is locked down fighting, make sure to CC the horde with fire or lightning so they can withdraw 2) Watch for specials and elites, in fact these should be a higher priority than the twins. I've had several wipes when the Mauler horde spawns and kills 1 person at a time until the whole team is down.
Re: Ogryn Ripper Guns, the "Can Opener" blessing puts in a lot of work for the Orthus Offensive. Pair it with a few heavy melee attack talents from the skill tree for more bleed stacks, and you have a potent tool for blending the twins and other large targets.
I would like to point out the usefulness of the devil's claw sword's counter ability vs the melee twin. Her attacks don't seem to take much stamina away making it so that you can easily parry every attack she throws while making Ragers an non issue. If you time the parry right you can take down her shield by yourself very quickly. You also don't need to deal with dodging her anime powers if you just parry and counter attack. The only thing you need to possibly look out for is her flurry. Otherwise you get free parries and damage.
Not too sure if it has been mentioned but all the elite packs spawn from "Gate 63" (the 9 o'clock gate from where you enter left of the twins). Happens on hard mode too. A few specials will spawn solo (bombers, flamers etc) elsewhere but none of the big packs. If you want to make it easier it may be best to park someone by it to spawn kill them.
You can run Ogryn with the shield and taunt. You can taunt both and tank them infinitely with the shield special stance. I tried that with my friends for our first attempt and we managed to do it in the hardest difficulty.
Finally finished hard mode with a buddy of mine, the horde and mobs/specialists are the real threat and taking them out first before dealing with the boss is probably the best start.
All the shotguns on vet are really nice right now. And personally for running the twins i just focus mainly on survivability and keeping others alive because i play with randoms lmao ive just turned my vet into mercenary markus from V2
As a orgyn I appreciate that. My build already has high toughness Regen and over 200 plus base toughness. The excess lets me become literally immortal for the duration and use the window to bonk ronin until he staggers. Then it's just game oger for him.
Did damnation yesterday night, 2 bleed stacks builds zealots 1 crowd control psyker smite and 1 Ogryn with ripper and a shovel. It went very smooth and fast. I was actually shocked. (I was a zealot) I might try the focus fire build on my Veteran in this video 👍
Love the guide, it was very in depth and I think it covered every angle possible. My only comment is to not sleep on the achylls stubber on the ogryn. I know you mentioned gorgonum but the achylls can put burn stacks on faster and mulch shields. The larger magazine also means more time firing, less time reloading while in pbb vs a ripper. Dumping a mag then hitting pbb for that insta refill is just nasty and the magazine is almost perfect size to constant fire during pbb with a cheeky reload at the end to get full use of the reload speed buff.
Been running it with my friend. I play Zealot and she plays Ogryn. Had the Ogryn pull aggro while I try to stay behind whichever twin is facing the Ogryn and carved them up. The other 2 members of the team run interference until one of the twins go down. Use mostly the knife and the single handed chainsword. Just switched out Chorus for Chastise and spammed the dash repeatedly. Did not know about the Ripper Gun though that was a shock to see it tear the shield apart like it was made of paper. Although in most games i ended up taking down Rinda Karnak (the one with the sword) first. This was because a friend of mine found you can force Rodin Karnak (the one with the gun) into a attack pattern where all he does is try to kick the player he is targeting. However you have to be within melee range and have to keep counter dodging him over and over. If he gets stuck doing that then you can chop him down super fast because he won't shoot.
I've found a melee ogryn can also bully the twins, especially with a zealot running the pulse ult. Even without any of the skills that enhance damage vs staggered targets it can keep them stagger locked while being immortal with how good you are at maintaining the over toughness. Plus you're still good against shields. It isn't perfect, if ronin says no and focuses you it's very hard to close in without your charge ult.
I haven’t played on the hard mode yet, but I had a power sword with perfect stats be able to take down the ranged twin’s shield in 8 swings. We didn’t have any ogryns so it was the fastest dps we could put on him
For me with randos I just took Shield Ogryn with Gorgonum and just kept the melee twin aggro to me and let my teammates gang up on the ranged twin, occasionally helping with a rock and i wouldn't bring a heal stim I used the celerity to be able to emergency regain stamina if i needed to when tanking melee twin
Completed it in my four stack with a berserker Ogryn with slab shield and gorgon, smite psyker with surge staff, backstab zealot and a bonk zealot. Was incredibly difficult but we completed it after a number of tries
Managed to do HM with randoms after few tries, had to bring my good old crucis hammer to deal some boss damage (and my lovely autopistol! actually really good shield damage on it) :D i think hammer was great here as well, but good zealots find it too slow i guess. Very important to heal your teammates if they get too corrupted, im really glad they added those new stims. Great video and breakdown, tho, now that i think about it, wouldnt psyker with left shield tree be good in this arena? you could technically block a ranged twin for days with those shields, i also wonder if it stops his mine drops, havent tested myself.
The mines can fly over the regular shield and land behind you. For Dome Shield, if the Twin is on the outside, the mine will hit the shield and land outside it. But if he is INSIDE the shield, the mines can exit the shield still!
@@rykenxiv the best part about telekine dome is the fact that if you put ranged enemies inside it, their guns just don't shoot at all, so dropping it on Rodin means you can just slap him around with very little resistance while he shoots his empty plasma pistol at you lol
Played it for the first time today with a group of random people and had fun. Even xhtted to a lady from the US ( im in UK) whilst playing as Tiberius, my Ogryn. Great fun but the Diamantine yield is very poor.
So, this is for hard mode, but I found Smite to be a detriment. Yes, you can lock down everything, but your dps is very low and everything will be aggroed on you. Maulers, berserkers, crushers; they'll all be after you, and you'll be relying on your other three teammates to put out even more dps to compensate for your crowd control. On hard mode, that felt like a really risky ask. I also did not like the peril management of a full team support build: Smite - Purgatus - Telekine. I was always high on peril and losing even more dps to constant quelling. I'd recommend not running constant peril generators like Smite without Shriek, which means pairing Telekine with easier quelling like a more staff-focused build. I agree that mobility is key for psykers. You want to move fast and dodge often. Dueling swords and combat knives allow for more personal speed. The spec I ended up running was this: Assail - Seer's Presence - Venting Shriek - Warp Siphon Dueling Sword - Surge Staff Most of my time was spent with Surge Staff; the CC is lesser than Smite, but the damage is much better on the things that you may need to kill for yourself. Like locking and destroying Crushers. Assail is only for occasional use to clear yourself and your team some space when you're getting swarmed. Venting Shriek is Venting Shriek. Two thumbs up whether you're staggering things, knocking dogs, setting warp fires, or just screaming for the fun of it. Warp Siphon is more for the sustainability than the damage; peril reduction when you have to be constantly putting out damage is so very helpful. Dueling Sword is for dodging, running, and the occasional stab. A poke to the face with the right blessings can be satisfyingly devastating.
Smite is completely useless in this fight. Literally use trauma or purg and just fucking kill anything you'd wanna CC so your teammates don't need to take the time to clear your entire wave when you could just kill it yourself
Smite is more of a... just in case button, more than actively using it. As they say, death is the best form of CC, but sometimes when unfortunate chaos bullshittery happens, having a method to at least buy your team some time is never bad. I've tried running Brain Burst and Assail, but I've found (in my experience of course), things that need to be brain bursted are often burnt to the crisp before they are a problem. I agree that Venting Shriek is the better choice in the build (it use that more often than Bubble. If anything I tend to forget I have bubble and barely use the ability :X)
@@rykenxiv Trauma staff buys your team time and doesn't leave you as complete dead weight on damage As someone who uses smite in 90% of their builds: it's not viable in this boss fight, this game's idea of making things difficult is literally just making things into dps checks and smite doesn't do enough damage to justifying it's use
@@rykenxiv The need for emergency CC and good damage is why I traded Smite for Surge stick. Still CC's a few, and with decent aim (which you should have if you're running Damnation hard mode), you can CC the important stuff when it becomes necessary, while also dishing out killing blows. I ended up not wanting to CC everything; just the important stuff. I and the team should be able to handle what's left (which did seem to be the case).
Been trying it as a psyker and I struggle a lot with it. Might need to try out the purgatus or another class. I feel extremely slow as a psyker with voidstrike or trauma staff and as gun psyker I am quite squishy and struggle with dealing with the hordes.
Psyker is honestly pretty rough in these kind of situations. You simply lack the access to single target damage that the other classes have so you end up focusing on managing the hoard and hoping that your teammates are thinking about you when it comes to target prioritization. I love psyker, but I'd love to see fatshark let us branch out further than CC/hoardclear bots
I've had a lot of luck with MkVI combat knife for Psyker mobility and horde clear in this mission. Its push attack is super safe horde clear and pretty safe single target counter attacking for when bosses or ragers are on you (time push as their attack animation would hit you), it has the great dodge distance for disengaging, and even with mobility as dump Stat and technically only equal sprint speed as Dueling swords, if you charge heavy attacks then sprint a bunch in succession, you can do little bursts of speed for crossing the arena fastest. Since it's the cleaving knife, those charged heavy slashes can kill a few poxwalkers as you pass them.
Warpflames with the brain burst skill that happens with damage is a unreliable but great damage buff against them if your other teammates are tanking them you can dish out some pretty decent damage
While I agree with the other classes, your recommendation for Psyker is honestly horrible. The built you've set up leaves a lot to be desired. A gunspyker excells in everything you've listed as a psyker issue. I've cleared hard mode with a group of 2 knife zealots and 2 psykers running the below build, that is honestly much more survivable, versatile and higher in its damage output. Equipping Psyker with +3 Stam curio, Dueling sword 4 (rampage, uncanny, crit chance, flak) and Kinetic Deflection provides massive mobility, gives incredible shield damage due to duelling sword heavies as well as very good and risk free quick damage to both ushielded bosses. You can also tank Rinda as well as rager packs due to the dueling swords dodge distance and your increased stamina. Adding Scrier's gaze and colmnus mk5 IAG and the movement speed on crit talent basically turns you into a knife zealot with massively increased damage. A single mag of the colmnus(hit and run, dumdum, stamina, crit) can pop Rinda's shield and clear large packs of scab ragers, maulers and gunners, whilst giving you range damage immunity after the first kill. Scrier's pushes its damage high enough and with the added movement speed through our talents and stamina on the gun you can constantly dodge and reposition yourself while you keep firing. Your toughness regen and damage reduction is also increased while it is active. You can add BB and the all attacks can BB talent for further boss and elite dps. Especially with the columnus, as it is a fast firing gun and can instantly apply the bb. This allows you to long range BB an enemy every 15 seconds for free, without ever switching to it. darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9add6d0a-7753-4ea9-aac9-f8a4fb978163/nils-hard-mode-gun-psyker
This is the kind of comment I love seeing because it means I am proven wrong and that there is still more to learn! Having looked at your build and stared at your comment for about 15 minutes, I think I agree with your assessment! My mind when putting together the Psyker build was still trying to maintain what it was to be a Psyker (using Warp abilities and space magic). I guess the thought of "the best way to play a Psyker in this mission is to play it like a Zealot" didn't sit right with me - which is why I alluded to Gunpysker but didn't go into its build. Funnily enough, our internal testing and experimentation did included Gunpsykers and they did pretty well. I guess when you take into account the team composition as a whole, it was more noticeable to see enemies burning to death from soulblaze and getting electrocuted than it was to see another fast moving, gun-totting, character on the field. I'll add your gameslantern build into my pinned comment as part of my notes! Thank you for this!
Question, are you able to actually kill Rodin before the final fight phase? Like, can you kill him on Gas 2 or Gas 3 if you have enough DPS or are they are locked to never die during those phases until the final?
9:27 i've found for dealign with charging enemies the two shield tech its just better than the because teh shriek can miss and its single use and long recharge compared to two shields and teh ability to stop chargers an dpox hounds dead multiple times, static shock random enemies including special randomly (great when fighting in close combat) and you can block gunners and snipers and flamers. Its just all round better to take than the shriek. And with two charges you can be clever with your positioning. Pair it with a nice laspistol and you can take out gunner hordes. 10:40 the rashad. Don't you find it has a shorter range comapred to the other axes? I find you have to be pushing INTO enemies for it to hit where as every other axe has quite a longer range. I'd go with the Akyles or whatever its called, whcih has the same animation and attacks but doesn't seem to have the short range bug.
Plaseteel is such a bych in this game they have to do something about it. I played whole month every day, and im getting pretty tired of weapons I've got and playstyles tim able to put out with their blessings. From over 20k plasteel i managed to get like 5 good builds to run, but even then only my sniper-bolter is close to being "optimal" And not gonna lie, im getting little sick and tired of farming after 200h. I really want to have fun with psyker staffs and other weapons, try what can be done, but its usualy boils down to spending 5h worth of farming on mid-tier weapon.
Fire rate and the fact the Mk V is full-auto when braced would be the main difference! Faster fire rate means applying Burn stacks quicker! You can try both to see which you like better (I just like the Full-Auto more because I feel like the Terminator when going ham with it :))
I can't say for sure... but I wouldn't be surprised if they were... Bullrush goes right through them so they definitely aren't Monsters... They aren't Unyielding either since Adhesive charge doesn't stick to them... hmmm...
While the Ripper Guns are great at tearing apart shields and wiping out hordes, having more diverse loadouts to compensate for other parts of the missions (Elite killing, special killing, horde clearing, and space creating) leads to a much smoother experience! You can absolutely try 4 Ripper Guns! We tried 4 Ogryns and even on a scuffed run (because our entire teams loadout was skewed to one side, we went down a couple of times), we could still finish the mission in 4 minutes 30 seconds or so! Ogryns are pretty much king for this mission haha
i sadly have to long loading times when i Join a match now my Team Is in hardmode and im with half hP Corupted and without a Stim it is hard not having friends Play Darktide sometimes
Lol at saying psykers don't have defenses... Clearly you're not that versed in psyker play. Agreed they lack damage, but a good psyker is a must on any team.
While I wished they made it part of the game, there is a mod that reveals all the blessings a weapon has when you look at it at Hadron's crafting menu. Otherwise you can discover what blessings a weapon rolls on Gameslantern!

The spec I ended up running was this:
Assail - Seer's Presence - Venting Shriek - Warp Siphon
Dueling Sword - Surge Staff
Most of my time was spent with Surge Staff; the CC is lesser than Smite, but the damage is much better on the things that you may need to kill for yourself.
@@rykenxiv Trauma staff buys your team time and doesn't leave you as complete dead weight on damage
As someone who uses smite in 90% of their builds: it's not viable in this boss fight, this game's idea of making things difficult is literally just making things into dps checks and smite doesn't do enough damage to justifying it's use
Gonna try this out for myself thnx for sharing
@@zmseddon Yeah. Would be nice if they turned BB into a proper singletarget nuke.
I used lightning psyker and focused on cc horde while randoms handled the twins

Thanks, I'm glad you agree. Who said you can't use space magic to make your bullets go faster and hit harder? 😂
@@CA-kg3vc I ain't gonna with Warp magic!
Thats very similar to my Accatran build. But i;m using it to turn the accatran into a flame thrower ha.
Really interesting build. Thanks for sharing!
just followed your advice for ripper on ogryn and got hard mode done first try with a group of randoms.
my first run was psyker and by the end rinda was chasing me around while my entire healthbar was corrupted
I have similar build on Zelot. I love that class as a dps/mid tank/support
Edit: flamers are great against power shields to
Question, are you able to actually kill Rodin before the final fight phase? Like, can you kill him on Gas 2 or Gas 3 if you have enough DPS or are they are locked to never die during those phases until the final?
If you kill him before 3 Gas Phases, he'll just end up spawning again (with like ... 15 or 20% health)
12:44 Ok I laughed hard
For the God Emperor The shields just melt!
That they do! We were always surprised how fast they go down!
i used your minigun inspiring barrage build and i won lol
Plaseteel is such a bych in this game they have to do something about it. I played whole month every day, and im getting pretty tired of weapons I've got and playstyles tim able to put out with their blessings. From over 20k plasteel i managed to get like 5 good builds to run, but even then only my sniper-bolter is close to being "optimal" And not gonna lie, im getting little sick and tired of farming after 200h. I really want to have fun with psyker staffs and other weapons, try what can be done, but its usualy boils down to spending 5h worth of farming on mid-tier weapon.
i tried the loadout but i get kicked the moment i run past the teleport bells. i am certainly very fast getting in and out of missions
VARLETS
What mods do you use for the hud? I've been trying to look but haven't been able to come up with anything
Numerical UI mod! If its the debuffs on enemies, then its the Debuff Indicator mod!
Thank you so much!@@rykenxiv
is there any difference on using the Ogryn foe rend mk 5 instead of the mk 2 in this encounter?
Fire rate and the fact the Mk V is full-auto when braced would be the main difference! Faster fire rate means applying Burn stacks quicker! You can try both to see which you like better (I just like the Full-Auto more because I feel like the Terminator when going ham with it :))
this event truly prooves how bad 90% of the playerbase is.
Yea I’ll just stick to regular missions I don’t like having to follow a certain meta to play a game and win I like my power maul zealot
Help I’m dumb, why would you want to farm this, I already got the emblem keychain thing with their heads. Do you get more plasteel or something?
He explains at the start and in his comment that it’s to farm Transcendent (Orange) weapons
😂
Uuuuhh.. I can’t just find a good team to do hardmode with!
Do you run it on damnation or lower?
I only run it on Damnation since that gives you the best odds of orange-tier loot!
Are the twins considered elite enemies
I can't say for sure... but I wouldn't be surprised if they were... Bullrush goes right through them so they definitely aren't Monsters... They aren't Unyielding either since Adhesive charge doesn't stick to them... hmmm...
How about 4 Ripper Gungryns?
Sadly my friends dont play this game
How the hell do you do this mission In 5 minutes??!
I can't fucking beat it at all
i dont' know why i;m watchign this i still dont' know what the four new stim pickups actually do. The game just doesn't tell you.
Lol at saying psykers don't have defenses... Clearly you're not that versed in psyker play. Agreed they lack damage, but a good psyker is a must on any team.
Flechette... I didn't even know that blessing existed. Fuck, the crafting in this game is garbage.
While I wished they made it part of the game, there is a mod that reveals all the blessings a weapon has when you look at it at Hadron's crafting menu. Otherwise you can discover what blessings a weapon rolls on Gameslantern!
this map is just impossible to complete on highest difficultly with Psyker. Game sucks in terms of balance.
