FRS
GT86
I want one of each
I chose BRZ
Gt86
Stock for stock, it basically all comes down to if you want a happy face or a mean face. 🤷♂️
Happy face all the way
“Pack your angry eyes”
Happy mean face.
Toyota, extra mean face with teeth, lol.
frs/86 front with oem brz headlights is best trust
I may not be first, I may not be last, I see gt86, I click really fast
Actually there was a subaru brz, and a scion frs in this video. no gt86
Henry I think you missed the joke
Literally was just looking into the 86/BRZ/FRS
I need to sleep early and by clicking on this video at 1am proves I have no self control and I love 86’s
Faster than the gt86 at least.
Scion - mad face
BRZ - happy face
GT86 - meh face
GT86 - Constipated catfish face
@@AwesomeApril666 😂 😂
I see it now and I can't unsee it in each one that drives by me lmao
April Rogers hahahaha more like constipated and confused
yall should have had a GT86 in the video to creat even more confusing lmao
both are a bumper swap away from being an 86 😂
@@ButteredUpToast and headlights. Those brz circles are disgusting
If one of these were debadged, it would be 3 different cars
I sware we watch the exact same youtubers i see you in comments all the time
Bruno Lang bro what 😹😂😂
Same bro I see the dude Faizaan Ahmed everywhere
If you count the gt86 then there would be 4 different cars ...
That would make it the Omni86.
Man a subaru fr....i mean scion br....dammit
😂😂
Subion FRZ. You're welcome.
Sciaru BRS
Toyobaru 8RZ6
Can no one else like this comment, it has 69 Likes. Noice! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
My favorite thing about the 86/FRS/BRZ is the handling. I love swinging it around corners.
so this is why all the ones i’ve been seeing for sale are salvaged title🙁
@@LOSAY- most likely haha
@@LOSAY- lol haha
Corporate needs you to find the difference between the FRS and BRZ
They’re the same
I'd go Subaru just for the community. Subie Fam is huge and passionate about there brand.
if u have brz frs or 86 youre in all the fams thats a major up side, but... youd think since theres so many of them prices for parts would be a lil bit cheaper oem parts
Shhh just put Subaru badges on the frs or 86 😉
idk dude theres a LOT of elitism with the brz fans and they often trash the 86 and frs drivers in my local communities.
@@jayjaybirdsnest find a new community lol my local community is AWESOME
I'm old school so this is the modern equivalent of Camaro/firebird. The same car but different enough to have their own styles. Or in the truck world Chevy/GMC.
I would say Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eagle Talon, without the Turbo!!
Except they’re literally the same car, all produced by Toyota, technically because Toyota owns a portion of Subaru, they made it different brands because 1 Toyota wanted a boxer engine in it, and 2 for marketing purposes
@@lizzofan if you drive both the suspension is set up quite differently frs is more prone to oversteer and the bro likes to understeer
Funny the Toyota has UEL headers so the Toyota has the “ Subie Rumble” lol
I think the Toyota badge makes it seem so much more unsuspecting. But you nailed it, I would choose Scion/Toyota purely out of brand loyalty.
My 2013 scion came rebadged with toyota emblems.
I got a brz and only because toyota didn't know how to do the valve spring recall and blew those engines or have engines rolling that might blow soon. My car before the brz was a 90 toyota celica so I was faced with a hard decision 😅.
Love this platform. ❤️
Both cars look nice imo, however I do like the scion/86 better because of that front bumper. It looks and stands out more.
You could always get a frs bumper and put it on a brz
Devon Thurston or you can skip that step and save money and just get the scion💀
That’s the reason I have a frs and not a brz the front end is more aggressive
@@Triggeredjpg I liked the frs better than the brz back in the day but like the new brz better than the 86. Low key think the frs looked better than the 86 even though it's older
I like the FRS front bumper more, even than the “newer” GT86!!
I just got a lava frs a few months back and I have absolutely fell in love with it. It's my first manual ever and I have never smiled so much.
"So I can hear every time a squirrel humps a tree" is probably the most accurate saying for a stripped interior lol
Love my dso2 wheels and tein coilovers! Thank you for the amazing fitment!
Reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson with the GT86 and BRZ.
u can drift while reading
I gotta say it, at first I didn’t like gels’ car but man, looks so good now!!!😍😍😍
Agree on the lego part. I'll probably never sell my FRS and just keep modding it over time. Someday maybe giving it to my son when he's old enough. Probably still be rocking the Raijins and BR Coilovers by then too. Thanks for those guys!
Max just savage af, tellin' it like it is 16:37
No matter which one you end up choosing I think the really valuable aspect of these cars is what he lovingly refers to as 'lego'. These are great, comfortable, easy, and when taken care of reliable platforms to learn how to work with vehicles. At the end of the day, more could you as for in a coupe daily driver.
What an awesome analogy at the end!
Do 2020 supra and 2020 Z4 next!
need tht
The wheels on that BRZ look really good
What’s the exhaust on the FRS? Sounds wonderful....
GReddy Revolution RS Ti and unequal length headers
y’all should do something with then GENESIS COUPE. i really love those cars!!!
I want Gels' exhaust on my BRZ. It's so perfect sounding
I have a FRS. My friend has the BRZ. I'd still pick my FRS over the BRZ. Though I would like the newer 86.
Great video as always. What wheels are on the FRS? I need some for my Genesis. thanks.
nevermind just saw it in the video.
on the bright side, if that brz rolls over, you'll be perfectly safe and strapped in!
You buy the subaru cause its a subaru engine in it. Ask 2013 owners with valve springs issues.. I would prefer a subaru tech working on my engine than a toyota one.
Yup, I would feel the same way if I had a pre-2015 one (the year the valve spring issues were fixed). Even then, I'd still rather take it to a Subaru dealership because boxers are all they do.
Just needed a turbo option oh well
People are too cheap for that bro. You'd end up with a $42K 4 cylinder Supra.
L W That’s LITERALLY what just came out for 2021 and it sucks ass. A turbo BRZ/FRS/86 for the same cost would easily trash that 4 cylinder Z4.
Scion FRS owner, any tips for where to start nodding? I'm thinking about getting a little more engine power and speed. Also I love this car, hugs curves and sharp turns like a champion
I'd get a BRZ because: It comes with heated seats and dual zone climate control and where I live the winters are ROUGH. (also I like how the headlights and gauge cluster looks more but...those are very simple to swap between the two cars)
Do you guys ever have plans on expanding? Maybe a Fitment Industries LA or anywhere else
We’ll have to see! Not any time soon though!
Does the KW suspension works with the 2017 BRZ/86? Need link if ever works.
I think the biggest difference you missed was just interior. When they first came out, from what I saw when I was spec-ing them out, the brz had the cooler interior with little race style toggle switches near the shifter and the digital display for your dual climate control. The frs however had the really cheap looking three dials that looked like my '98 jetta
The frs got that option in the later years as well as the Toyota version when the gt86 came out.
Other than that, same car.
Congrats on 500k
🙏🏼
Love my 2013 FRS. #1 reason why I picked FRS over BRZ: The FRS has the "86" badge. Need to pay respect to it's older brother the AE86.😊😉
What exhaust and header setup is on the frs?
Gels’ 86 is coming along niceley👌
What you got against racing harness. I love my 3 point sparco harness in my daily evo x.
I've got a 13' BRZ. The only mods i've done is Suspension, wheels, sti lip kit, Ducktail, and UEL PSR Header. That's all i need. and all will ever need.
mostly cosmetic mod and sound.
Agreed Alex, please stop making loud/angry BRZ, FRS, 86 and put some power based performance stuff or just leave them at the stock power and just make it look good.
These cars are becoming more and more this generations ricer Civic
Next episode: JDM vs EURO the epic battle!
Yeah baby!
I am from europe and at first I really didn't get what (mostly american) people like so much about euro cars, to me they just seemed so basic because I saw them so often, but I have started to appreciate them a lot more because I feel like some people would love to have some of the cars we have because they are quite unique sometimes.
There isn't a battle. JDM outshines Euro trash every time. There's only one Asian company that doesn't beat Euro trash every time, and that's Subaru, and even that's only due to the Boxer engine.
@@Dominik189 lmao jdm makes the slowest cars 😂 euro cars are born fast, jdm cars you have to make fast
@@Jmj__ who the fuck cares about fast when your car has to go to the mechanic every month to spite being brand new. The last euro car that was worth a fuck in terms of reliability was the old Mercedes 240 from 1980. Call me when you have production cars capable to going 1000000 km and still going with just regular maintenance. Also most of those JDM cars that were "made" fast by the owners, STILL outshine euro trash in reliability.
I have a '15 BRZ. I went to both local dealerships, Subaru and Scion, and what an eyeopener. The Scion dealership was one corner of a Chevrolet - Toyota regional dealership chain with a 'Meh' reputation and their salesmen weren't interested in talking to me about the one FR-S. they had: an automatic parked inside the showroom. If I were a teenager or some 20-something I might have understood, but I was in my fifties! On the other hand the local Subaru dealership has a long standing stellar reputation for excellent service and many of my co-workers recommend them. Their salesmen happily let me test drive a car and even though I didn't take the engine over the break-in limit of 4500rpm I could tell that it was what I wanted. My decision was made by the dealership reputation and the fact that the BRZ could be optioned with heated seats, pushbutton start, etc. - better options!
I agree, the car needs more power. The problem isn't the 'only 200HP' issue, it's mostly the 'barely 151 ft-lbs' of torque that pretty much disappears between 3000 and 5000 rpm issue! Out of the box, the car barely has enough power off the line to beat it's own shadow - its almost dangerous! You learned that once up to speed you would need to downshift two or three gears to accelerate, which was quite intimidating at first! I strongly suggest any BRZ/FR-S owner spring $500 for the Open Flash Tablet as is does a decent job of filling in the "Torque Dip". I also installed a catted UEL header and a cat-back exhaust. They also fill in the torque deficit and cut down on the need for heroic downshifting! There is no local dyno so I am guessing it might make 220 HP, maybe? The Prius tires don't help at all, they wear like iron and have the same traction. My winter wheel/tire set has more traction. I have Pilot Sport 4s' on Enkei RPF-1s for summer tires and they increase the BRZ's grip by an order of magnitude.
I use mine as a daily driver. I switch between an older BMW 3-series (not an M!) and the BRZ. They are comparable in performance but totally different in personality.
I hope the person with the race harness actually takes his car to the track. If he doesn’t... why
It's looks faster parked with a harness.
Sure do! My car has been to more track days than car shows. I like to daily it in the summer so it gets annoying at times.
A big advantage for me in canada when i looked at buying one (decided not to) is insurance savings but it would take you 10 years to come out at zero $
So can i still take my scion to suburu meets? I mean it has suburb engine right
Do you guys sell that fitmentindustries north face jacket?
I went with an FRS for a few reasons. The FRS has lower insurance rates and yes it was less used. (FRS wheel specs?)
Where do u get that north face fitment industries??
Alex bruh you’re the best! Been subscribed for so long and I never miss a vid with you man!
I needed this video lol
I love the intro, what song is that?
Can you break out the mullets and compare a 90s Camaro and a 90s Firebird?
Alex's frs looks very nice 👌
What is the front fender on the subaru called?
THANK YOU racing harness on a daily driver is beyond dumb. Unless track boi
Visual lol I have a racing hardness on my daily, you just mad you broke 😂😂
@@julioaguilar7680 you seen my car? Lol jokes on you
I take it to the track too much lmao. I daily it in the summer but its main purpose of this car was to introduce me into time attack, and its doing just that!
Visual 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ not the same thing buddy, lets talk credit and jobs 🤔
What type of exhaust does Gels have on his FRS?
Can you post the mod list for both cars?
Comparing these to SRT4 and civics is not giving them enough credit. The chassis an the weight distribution is one of the best in the business and makes for an extraordinary platform to build on..... TASTEFULLY.... If you can keep them unsullied, they’re going to be classics.. The FRS is a good example of this.
That’s the problem though, people that don’t drive these cars 10/10 will never feel the brilliance of them. I personally have one and it’s perfect for me, however I am a 10/10 driver and I go to autox events. I could imagine someone that isn’t THAT hardcore to not find these as much fun.
Hearing the engine rev out but the trees behind him were still passing by at a modest speed
Whats gels exhaust and intake setup?
what a beautiful car
If you compare the two you need to point out the fact that the frs had a different spring rate front and back than the brz. When the 86 took the frs place they matched the spring rate to the brz, but early models where different
Anyone know where to get that spoiler that’s on the brz?
The unequal length headers gives that traditional “Subie” rumble. But he’s going to want to watch his pistons. The 2.0 is meant to be equal length. So doing that cause extra stress.
What Rims are those for the BRZ
Do opposite Lanes Lexus is300 vs Toyota Supra please I love your guys content💯🔰
I think something that needs to be said. As a Toyobaru owner you can shop for parts at both Subaru and Toyota dealers. The exact same part can have a huge price difference between 2 dealers.
What front lip is on the frs?
Good thing you had that racing harness and roll cage to go 58mph LOL
BRZ comes with more features without having to look for the special editions of the FR-S (Monogram, 10 Series, Hakone). I took on the mission of converting my FR-S to a BRZ (all harnesses swapped and smart access features installed). it was a painful project, but thankfully I completed it. FR-S does carry a more aggressive front while the 86 and BRZ is a more refined look. Overall... Left shoe, right shoe.
Grrr8 Video!!!
Some brz comes with the sti red intake manifold and brembo brakes. Not sure if the frs does.
men drive the brz and women drive the frs 😂
what is gels' exhaust setup?
@1:52 The doors hold cups/water bottlers.
What exhaust is the frs running?
Does anyone know the make and model of the brz's wing?
I may want to really get one
LOL as I was watching the end of this video a random FRS goes by my house with a loud exhaust
Which would I choose? The Subaru. 2 Main reasons: there is a terrific Subie specialist near me (and, yes, I know that both cars are pretty much Subarus), and since I have a mountain of CDs, I would pick the Subaru because of the 2-3 cars it is the only one factory fitted with a CD player. Try finding the Scion or Toyota with a factory CD player.
what side skirts are those?
Bumping in both 😂
Love that the BRZ and the FRS are basically the same price in germany...
Love my Toyobaru
I own a used 2013 base model FR-S and my buddy has a new(one owner) 2018 BRZ Ts and we had this discussion once because his girlfriend asked what is the difference? We asked around owners from varies age groups and found the results interesting. The younger owners would prefer the FR-S since it is cheaper as a used vehicle compared to a BRZ of the same year. Save some money for the first few mods. With the older generations ie baby boomers, they rather buy a BRZ since the car brand is better know, it offers different trim levels, and it one complete package deal.
Regardless, I would pick the FR-S since Scion only sold the car only one trim level with a fix MSRP (with special editions throughout the years); therefore, I can enjoy building it. Plus I always have a good ice breaker since a lot of people would ask, "Scion, is that a new brand? I never heard of it. They must make expensive cars." - (me in my head, it is just a Toyota/Subaru)
Gels should slap on the greddy t518z turbo kit and call it a day
If only my brz looked that nice and clean! I daily mine and due to the pandemic i had to move into the country side. So much for keeping the blue all shiny. Dang dusty roads! 😭
350z & Rx8!
exhaust sounds like garb on blue one
Nitpicking here, but that FRS looks like a 2013, not a 2016. You can tell because it doesn’t have a sharkfin antenna and the stock radio isn’t a touchscreen. Overall great video, and awesome series idea
you should do the hyundai veloster vs hyundai genesis (2014-15)
Do an episode on domestic vs import!
The song in the beginning went so hard, anyone know the name?
Do a 4 cylinder American Muscle
debating on BRZ or FRS. BRZ handling is spot on from what I hear, is the FRS the same? from where I live it snows a lot so handling is very important!
I owned both. Brz is better.
Phillip Huynh how about in the snow?
