Super helpful...I understand what you mean re. the S curve and collapsing into the larger thoracic curve.. thank you so much for these helpful, simple tips.
Thank you so much for making this channel💖you are helping so many with this , if I slouch my back hurts so bad so correct posture is important with scoliosis
I'm a nurse and I'm just now realizing that my desk is set up completely wrong reinforcing my curve and rotation. (Blue eyed blond with the same curve pattern you have.) I sit on a stool that swivels. I can't move my computer monitor but I can adjust my legs so I unwind my spine rather than making it worse. I've been at this job for two years and wondered why my right hand now rests on the front of my thigh instead of the side of my leg when standing naturally and why it seemed my left leg was shorter than the right! You've been very helpful. I stopped lifting weights last year due to back pain and that really made things even worse. I didn't realize that I was looking in the mirror while lifting and self-correcting my posture and rotation. You may have given me my life back! ❤
I'm so glad the video is helping you! Any exercise including lifting weights is good but you might just have to re-assess HOW you lift the weights and always making sure you adjust which sounds like you're doing so well done!
Very helpful! Thank you! Do you have a video on how your posture should be when you're walking etc? Sometimes I notice that I slouch or just don't have a good posture when walking, especially if I'm carrying a bag or backpack, but I'm not sure how to improve it when taking my scoliosis into consideration
Walking is probably the most complicated one and depends on your individual curve pattern! Notice if you have any habits of turning one foot out more than the other or carrying the bag always on the same shoulder. That will give you some clues
@@MoveWithScoliosis can you please elaborate.. My foot is always out while walking why is that.? I have a mild scoliosis. 29yrs old. I have no idea whom to approach...
Having two massive curves in my spine and working at a desk 8hrs a day, this might prove to be very helpful! Thank you! I also put some foam under my left hip while sitting, I figured it out one day and it works so I sit more evenly ;) btw, what do you think about those fitness/sitting balls that makes you sit more actively? Do you think it will make the condition even worse or will be like activating those lazy muscles to support the back?
Great question! I've been talking to physios about this and have come to the conclusion that I won't bother! If you have a certain pattern of sitting then you will just take this onto the cusion as well. Having said that I think a ball can be useful because it makes you get up more often and bounce around :-)
It really is a struggle just to sit, especially holding a mouse just for ten minutes. I can feel my shoulder muscles becoming really tense… i don’t understand how to do my job if I have to sit in front of the computer most of the time. I do stand up and do exercises. But the effect wears off once I sit again. It’s exhausting
I have 45 degree towards right scoliosis over the past 20yrs+, i had an accident 2 yrs ago and due to long hours of sitting on the wheelchair, now my back muscle seems more weaker and i couldn't breathe properly if i dont lean my back to the left side. Even have difficulty to eat by myself this way. Sometimes, this issue really drains me down so much that i feel life is so miserable for me. All i wish for now is to find a way to sit up straight and to have a proper meal.
I have a mild Right thoracic curve. lumbar is ok. I tend to get pain on Left mid thoracic just above bra strap line very close to spine, especially with simple things like brushing my teeth, cooking, washing dishes but usually dont get the pain while working out or doing more active/strenuous activities. Any thoughts on anything specific to target this? Imaging has ruled out anything serious to this area
very difficult to recommend anything without seeing you but my instinct would be to release and mobilise gently. Breathing exercises and restorative yoga can be very powerful for this region which is so hard to access!
Mine is also same thoraic scoliosis and feeling sometime pain at left side of chest while taking deep breath. And how you correct your scoliosis? Can you suggest me some tips
I want to watch tv in my carpeted living room. I have a rare physical hannidicap. The scoliosis has been bothering me lately and making it hard to watch tv. What do i do?
I am a nail technician..and I have a curve on my right side..I tend to use my right side alot ,cos am right handed.sometimes after work,my body becomes very sore..I want to know if my work is making my scoliosis worse…lemme know what I should do,and if there’s a possible solution or a way I can manage my condition with my work.
for scoliosis it's all about finding balance and resetting! If you use your right hand a lot it probably means your right shoulder is rounded forwards more than your left. If your curve is going to the right you already have a natural tendency for the right shoulder to roll forward. I would start with being aware how you sit at work maybe and then make sure you release the muscles at the front of the right shoulder (pectorials) so they don't shorten even more. It's about resetting after work... Hope this helps?
When you say "left lumbar curvature" does that mean your concave side is your left or right? /// also, when you put that small towel under your buttocks, do you place it on the convex or concave side? Thanks so much.
Hi! Sorry, I’m still a little confused. So if my lumbar curve is curving towards the left, so the left is my convex side, should I be wedging under my left side when sitting? Thanks to much!
Great explanation. I highly recommend you check out Ed Paget.com He is an osteopath that specializes in scoliosis. He has some great videos explaining scoliosis. He uses the terms S curve and reverse S curve, C curve and reverse C curve. Both very helpful ways to describe scoliotic curves.
It's sad that I have to watch this on just 'how to sit' because of my stupid scoliosis.

Should we not sit so as to compensate for the curve?
Hi uhm do you also have scoliosis? Because I checked your channel and it's all about scoliosis, thank you!
Yes I do!
Madam, can it be useful for combine scoliosis.
I want to watch tv in my carpeted living room. I have a rare physical hannidicap. The scoliosis has been bothering me lately and making it hard to watch tv. What do i do?
Not sure I understand your question right. What makes it difficult to watch TV? Sitting on a chair?
Is there anything gentle to improve the mod back weakness.
Is there a good way to sit while driving?

Same question
when left or right is mentioned it's always the convex side of the curve. Towel under the convex side of the lumbar curve 😀

yes you can try that. You want to lengthen the right side!

Is folding leg harmful?
not necessarily! Only if you always do the same side.
does backjoy or similar products help with sitting properly?
My curve is at the bottom of my back bone. I have a S curve but the more curve part is to the end of the back bone right next to my pelvis
