To anyone reading this, you got this. I know. You're tired and know that your brain is not in the homework doing place. Same. Here's some motivation: If you can get your homework done before the end of the day, after you can relax for hours :) You got this friend!!
I feel you 100% You tell yourself " Imma go home and Imma at least put in 1hour of studying" When you reach home you be like "aight time to study" then you sit down in bed with your bed and next thing you know it's 9am the next day
Maybe go for a walk while studying? Like you can read your textbook and highlight key points and topic sentences all the while taking a walk, and then you can take notes at home! That’s just what I think though.
Oh god, I've once more entered this vicious cycle of feeling stressed, therefore procrastinating to forget/avoid that stress, only to get more stressed cuz I realized just how much time I wasted procastinating... I genuinely have no will power, and it's messing me up the wrong way
I think that might be depression and /or anxiety, when you're having an episode, you feel so overloaded with exhaustion, heaviness and the excruciating pain that the emotions are bombarding you, so much to the point of complete inability to do anything. I have extreme procastination because of this, often times it would feel so unbearable that i would just end up browsing my phone or sleeping just to be distracted from the horrible feelings, even when i get myself to study, that brain fog and dullness makes it kinda impossible for me to execute my study quickly and efficiently. I think we'll just have to force ourselves to study or work at one time, so that when we get the stuff done, we would feel prouder, motivated and have a sense of control, so we can keep continuing the next times one by one, opposite to avoiding and creating bigger problems as the feeling of guilt and regret of not doing anything just build up, it's like the domino effect.
I noticed that I can't study at my house. I get distracted so easily because I can't have a study place. So, I just got a membership at a nice library near my house and so far, it has been great.
In my case I can't study in my room because I just feel too comfortable and relaxed to the point of just forgetting what I was supposed to be doing... So I just started waking up early, taking a shower and going to the library, even if I didn't have any reason to go out that day.. The fact that I'm in a public place, out of my comfort zone has helped me quite a lot

Then sees the flower bed could use some more plants and needs more mulch. Goes to gardening center, buys more plants and mulch, plants the new plants and spreads mulch. Then walks over to garden to check on it, and spends the next five hours tending to it. Then goes for walk, and comes back barely before dark. Feels accomplished about what I got done outside, and decides to study tomorrow. 😅 Once I go outside it’s hard for me to come back in! I definitely do find spending time outside very helpful to my mental health!

Nida Kamal I think the best advice I got from this channel was to concentrate on doing one thing and only a thing by time. Also having pomodoro sessions in a certain amount of time. I think the best video I follow religiously it's 'Study less, study smart', but any other it's good
1. Get more sunlight exposure 2. Exercise, even light exercise will work 3. Organize/ Clean your work places 4. Single-tasking 5. Minimum effort hack My favorite is number 5. That actually is an idea which has been proven effective and explained under different names and terms, one of which is Kaizen.
I've found that in the past eliminating UA-cam (Except for tutorials) gives me more of a reason to expand and either get things done or motivate me to become better at something.
This was uploaded at exactly the right time, I'll let THIS one be the LAST video I watch until I actually get on with my assignments! Edit: I actually went and watched way more of Thomas's videos ahaha but after that my god I was productive
Every time I’m struggling with some things such as no motivation and procrastination, I open up UA-cam and Thomas Frank has done a video about it. Believe it or not I actually take notes on your videos and they have helped me a ton. It made me feel a lot better to know that I’m not the only person who struggles with these things, and somebody who is as successful as you are struggled with them too. I’m glad you decided to do this type of thing with your time. your video about bouncing back from failure helped me more than you’ll ever know.
Pretty sure this applies to anytime you’re not feeling motivated to do any task. I’d consider myself a very hard worker, but have moments of procrastination or laziness. What I’ve found that works for me is literally to create a smaller list of “checkpoints” I need to accomplish to finish my task. Then I just start on the first one on the list to build that momentum. Great video!
the more I think about it that momentum building part is super important, you typically dont go from 0 motivation to concentrated hard worker. Thanks for the tip.
I hope Thomas sees this! But I feel like there should be more of an emphasis on self care, since doing this without allowing yourself the time to love yourself and the things you do, will result in depression. I used to work very hard everyday and push myself very hard everyday, because I cannot motivate myself to do things due to my depression. I feel like this is a problem that is not discussed enough especially among those who DO work hard towards leading fulfilling lives. (sorry for any language mistakes)
This video is motivational tool I use everytime I don't feel like doing the work! I've saved it to a inspirational playlist and meditate to the words ! Some of you struggling with concentration should test yourselves this way. Actually listen to the video and nothing more !! Hope this helps 😘
How to make yourself study when you have zero motivation(Short-term) 1. Go outside and take a walk Recommendations: Use your phone light to wake you up but playing exercise app on while you have nature music on 2. Commitment to one task Recommendations: Sketch book and chrome extension: Momentum 3. Clear to neutral Recommendations: Clearing up the clutter( A place for everything and everything in it's place) 4. Low effort app Recommendations: Do what's easy first
this might be hella late but a good tip is taking a small power nap around 15 minutes. Its crazy effective and you feel like you took a 3 hour nap instead. Life-saver for sure
I never leave comments on videos normally and I know you won't see this but I wanted to say thank you so much for this video. I have recently started my final year of university during the covid pandemic and I had just lost motivation. I wanted to let go of everything and just stop caring. I started skipping classes and getting behind on assignments which is really unusual for me. I started eating crappy food and just not keeping a good sleep schedule. This video is the only video that has helped me break down what seems like an insurmountable task of recovering my semester. The whole premise of doing it little by little and not seeing it as this big scary task honestly does work! I'm now in the library busting out assignmenta and actually enjoying doing so. You have saved my degree and for that I thank you 💯❤️
Dude, me too. I have 8 subjects and 2 more exams of 3 total. I was awfully bad in the first exams and I can't fail in any of them, or else I'll have to spend 1 more semester in college... But I'm focused right now and I now for a fact that we both will top our grades. The most important move that we've done was to look for study advice. Keep it up man, we can do it.
WOW! The production effort you put into that one is really insane. The differents shots, angles and locations really add up to the overall quality of the video. Don't stop making such quality content. P.S. Your french pronounciation has really improved since the start of the channel, and that is coming from a native french speaker.
How am I supposed to be motivated if I spend my life learning things that I am not interested in? Only for an exam that I probably won't be able to do anyways because I wasn't motivated to learn enough? Of course there are also things in school that I am interested in... so why can't I just learn more about these things? Instead, I have to learn about things where I know that I'll never need them later in life and which I am not interested in... *Why does this school system exist?!*
What if those things u study are the opportunity which will let u to go and do in the end what u wanted or be something u wanted. I want to be a developper but i study physics chimestry and math , these things thay i wont need but im obliged to study it the first years
How can we tell the difference between "i'm not motivated" and "I think I chose the wrong path for me, I have no interest in doing this" (for uni students)
Well, it would depend on where your unmotivated-ness is coming from. Do you want to refrain from doing a certain task because of the way it has to be completed/how hard it is, or because the subject itself doesn't interest you?
I minute into this video I went this video is to long, put down my phone, threw it away and got down to work. Three hours later and I got a lot of work done so thank you genuinely thank you!
Something that turned my life around: Getting enough vitamin D. If you live in a country above the 40th parallel and or you don't spend much time in the sun and you rarely eat fish and eggs, you might have a vitamin D deficiency and that would make you feel chronically tired and low in motivation. Get your blood vitamin levels checked and make sure to take about 5000 IU in liquid D3 supplements daily if you are low. A walk in the sun is not nearly enough if you live in the North.
@@ironbullet9956 Depends on where you live but 35000 will be way too much anywhere in the world. Too much is toxic for your liver so make sure you get a blood test before taking high doses.
What helps me the most is definitely taking the time to organize my work space and, because of COVID I work in my bedroom, I also make sure to do my bed, sometimes open a window and keep my room organized enough. It's the first thing I do when I come to work, I organize everything those before me left and plan my things.
Battling depression while having a career and future to work on is absolutely terrifying. Baby steps are required. So Thanks for the vid, off to work! :)
I'm actually on my study break. And thank all the stars I needed this exact video. I think I'm going through a mid-semster crisis. Thanks such for this video and your whole channel.
Honestly none of these videos can really motivate you until you want to be motivated , i watch these videos and do nothing so its better to motivate your ownself because nobody in this world knows you better than your ownself , just start studying without even thinking for a second ,open your book, word document or ppt and just start ,that's the only thing that is going to work
I just force myself, but since studying is about a fun as playing in the steaming hot depths of hell, I have developed a panic disorder when I start studying. I have mild panic attacks that subside within 15 minutes because the process of studying is so tortuous to my psyche. I'd rather be doing anything else. After about 10-15 minutes, I can focus and finish what I've set out to do, but the physiological symptoms I've developed, probably triggered by the psychological reluctance to want to study has been something that I cannot overcome and has been with me for several years now. Studying is akin to torture for me, a necessary evil, and there are days where I've felt like I just want to give up on my academic career because I hate it so much.
Your method of forcing yourself to study might be the reason why studying is so tortuous to you. You have conditioned yourself to treat studying as an evil to be overcome. I have similar problems and I think a possible solution is to find intristic motivators, to learn to enjoy the act of studying or whatever else you want to accomplish rather than forcing yourself through them to meet the expectations of others or yourself. That said, I still haven't found a way to completely shift from extrinsic to intristic motivation myself, it is a continuous process that drains a lot of willpower.
Convence your subconcious mind that you love studying. Say Every day stuff like: i love studying ,studying is so easy, I percive studying as something normal. (Fake it till hoy make it!
@Carly Fournier lol but it works there's a lot of studies that it works, CBS your subconscious mind controls 90% of your actions. For example I have been telling myself that I hava and amazing memory and that I am a positive person, and you know what after a week I feel that is working .
I find that when I have no motivation to study, it's often because my monkey mind is going berzerk. Meditating and journaling has helped tremendously. Exercise is definitely amazing, especially on those low energy days.
I never had this problem during college/university, because when I was accepted into my program, I promised myself to remain 100% focused. I locked myself in my room for 3.5 years and did exactly that, graduating in the top tier of my class. I still get asked by family/friends how I was able to do that. It all boils down to one thing and that is commitment! I am the biggest procrastinator of them all and find it difficult just to stay motivated from day to day. If you commit yourself though and stay true to yourself, anything's possible.
I was in the absolute dead zone of motivation... this actually helped. I forgot I used to make lists so I am making it now. Thank you so much. I'm taking 5 classes at a University and drowning in homework and had zero will power.
This is EXACTLY what i needed. I have an exam at 9am tomorrow, its currently 11pm here, gonna have to do an all-nighter cuz i didnt study ANYTHING before. Thanks dude
@Rayne Hala literally said she lives in a desert lol. There's this thing called the Rub al-Khali on the Arabian Peninsula, part of the middle east, which is the largest sand desert in the world. I don't know how much of the middle east you're aware of but there most certainly is sand.
Wow! This really gave me the motivation, I immediately started studying once i watched this and it's been over 2 hours and I'm still going! (I'm on a pomodoro break)
Got a physics exam in 2 days that might decide which uni I go to. So glad youtube actually recommended something that got me off youtube for a couple of weeks.
He failed and didn’t get into college and now he can’t get a job so he’s broke now and had to sell his phone so he can’t go on UA-cam and tell us how it went
I usually find myself unmotivated after school when I'm tired. Instead of forcing myself to stay upp for studying, I have started to pick the habit of going to bed at 6 or 7pm and putting the alarm for as early as 4am and then study couple hours before going to classes. Things get done so much smoother when I am rested!
Points: -Commit to one task at a time, don't look at the whole to-do list -Go outside, take a walk or do some sports -Clear up your workspace and set it to the specific task that you working towards accomplishing -dont always put a lot of effort into things, try using low efforts first, later on when youre looking back on the task improve on the things you were lousy on -change your state of mind before you start you're work, here's a quote; it's not the exact line BC Im too lazy to rewind: " sometimes your PR's are set on off days "

The 24K Life aHHH THANK YOU! this is a great tip duddd

This is not a joke

Well, it would depend on where your unmotivated-ness is coming from. Do you want to refrain from doing a certain task because of the way it has to be completed/how hard it is, or because the subject itself doesn't interest you?
Here I am, 1 year later, searching for this video again..

Usually my motivation is the imminent dread that comes with knowing that my test is tomorrow and I have done nothing
Ikr. But quarantine makes me procrastinate like a bih. Monotonous days. It's like living the same way over and over again. Nothing's new.
Something that turned my life around:
Getting enough vitamin D.
5000 UI is a very snall amount its mostly used for kids tho I'm usşng 35000 UI
Oh well that makes more sence of why im so tired and not at all motivated these last couple months....
@@ironbullet9956 Depends on where you live but 35000 will be way too much anywhere in the world. Too much is toxic for your liver so make sure you get a blood test before taking high doses.

You're already motivated. This motivation is for who is in zero motivation zone.
I am a 9 year old and i was having problems with math, decided to go to youtube, this helped me SO MUCH, thank you.
Omg
You seem good at writing tho😊

Points:
-Commit to one task at a time, don't look at the whole to-do list
-Go outside, take a walk or do some sports
-Clear up your workspace and set it to the specific task that you working towards accomplishing
-dont always put a lot of effort into things, try using low efforts first, later on when youre looking back on the task improve on the things you were lousy on
-change your state of mind before you start you're work, here's a quote; it's not the exact line BC Im too lazy to rewind: " sometimes your PR's are set on off days "
